We're going to sit and we're going to go into the mind.
And this may be challenging,
So your refuge as always is breath.
You just step outside of this meditation,
This visualization and breath.
If you find yourself feeling anxious or if you find that this is silly or not for you,
Just step outside the experience,
Your thoughts and breath and wait and listen.
Just breath.
And we'll begin our journey into the mind by focusing on a spot between our eyebrows and a couple of inches into the brain.
Imagine that in that space there is a cave and you're looking into the cave and you see three little versions of yourself sitting there.
They look exactly the same.
They're sitting there meditating,
Breathing,
Just like you are.
The first figure,
This is your personality.
This little figure is preoccupied with all kinds of thoughts,
Likes and dislikes,
Attractions,
Aversions,
Narratives,
Dramas,
He said,
She said and oh if I'd only said and I'll never forget when.
And I'm so worried about and it's a constant hum of these thoughts.
It's a sometimes roar of these thoughts.
This little version of you cannot escape.
And as you're listening,
This little version of you is evaluating so many things about my voice,
About this content,
About your reactions,
Everything.
There's also some discernment and some judgment that is good and keeps you operating in the world.
So we have love for this little version of you and gently invited to leave the cave for now.
Two versions remain.
This next little version of you is your sense of I,
Me,
Mine.
Your sense of identity based on what you have,
Who you are in the world,
Your self-perceived status,
Your sense of worth,
Your feeling of importance or lack of importance,
Substance or lack of substance,
The things you own,
The jobs,
The titles,
The accomplishments,
The so-called failures.
This is your ego,
Ahankara,
I am-ness,
Mine,
Me.
With love,
Can you gently ask this version of yourself to leave the cave?
So now you're in the cave with this third version.
And so what are you and what is this third version?
Just breathe for a moment.
Think of this third person as a wise elder version of you.
Sweet,
Benevolent,
Loving,
Maybe like a grandparent,
Gentle,
Accepting,
Most of all wise.
And intuitive,
Knowledgeable,
Connected,
Compassionate,
Unchanging,
Unaffected by the other two versions of you but entirely loving towards them.
This version of you has all the answers you seek.
Ask it a question.
Trust the answer.
This version of you,
Of your mind,
Is inviting you to come and sit any time.
Any time.
You ride the magic carpet of your breath into that cave and sit down.
This version of you is completely content and happy to sit with you in silence.
And with enough gentle concentration and attentioned focus,
You may find yourself merging with this person,
This image,
This higher mind,
This unchanging,
Formless,
Loving,
Sweet,
Happy,
Content.
You are you.
This is you.
This is you.
This is you.
This is you.
This is you.
This is you.
