Start by finding a comfortable seat.
Feel connected to the earth.
Feel the base of your body grounded.
You might rock back and forth a little bit to find that center.
Take your time settling into your body to feel grounded.
Your hands could be on your lap in any comfortable position.
Don't worry about that too much.
Find comfort and straighten your spine,
But not stiff.
Imagine your head is a helium balloon.
Feel it float up the crown of your head toward the sky just a bit.
That will straighten your spine just enough.
And anytime you sit to meditate,
Start to focus on your breath and notice the breath.
This is just an observation,
Not changing the breath too much,
Just noticing.
Notice how just with the intention of meditation,
Your breath starts becoming a little deeper and more even.
Start by thinking of all of the things that you are in this physical world.
All of your organs of perception,
Your eyes,
Your skin,
Your nose,
Your mouth,
Your ears,
And all of your limbs and your organs.
And then think of all of that which can be seen,
Which can be smelled,
Heard,
Touched.
And turn to your breath.
Now picture the elements of earth and air and fire and water and the fifth element called ether which is space.
And imagine your mind,
The part that's processing this and thinking,
Evaluating,
Participating,
And the part of your mind that we call ego which is your I am-ness,
Your feeling of unique identity separate from others and your association with that which you own and your titles and your feelings of accomplishment or failure,
Whatever that is.
All of that is ego.
A third part of your mind is wisdom.
That's the part of your mind that brought you here today.
And that part of your mind is able to understand that beyond all of these organs of perception,
These limbs,
All of that which can be perceived,
And all of the elements beyond all of that and surrounding all of that and the three layers of your mind.
Collectively these are called prakriti.
There is something else.
Call it purusha.
It is everything else.
Everything that is not your organs of perception,
That which can be perceived,
The elements and the three layers of your mind.
What else is there?
Purusha is soul.
Purusha is consciousness.
Purusha,
If you will allow it,
Is divinity.
Purusha is Self.
Purusha is yours to determine.
Soul,
Higher consciousness,
Divinity,
Self.
Formless,
Nameless,
Unchanging.
Without flaw.
You,
Your prakriti,
Are a unique expression of purusha.
You are a spark.
You animate purusha in your own unique way.
Purusha delights in this animation that is you,
Your Self.
Purusha and prakriti,
You are in a continual,
Constant,
Divine dance.
Now let all of this go,
All of this conceptual wandering and wondering,
And just be.
Your breath brings you back.
Your spine realigns.
Just sit.
Stay as long as you want.
Ring the bell in two minutes.
