Big Mind Meditation is a guided meditation practice that guides the meditator into a receptive, open quality of awareness, that is spacious, open, clear and radiant. The meditation points to the naturalness of awareness and allows the meditator to rest in an open clear state of mind, that is both naturally relaxed and bright. You will be guided to become aware of all experiences, sounds, breath, body sensations, emotions, thoughts and seeing how they are all known and experienced naturally in the open field of awareness.

So in this meditation,

Invite you to sit in a very relaxed,

Open posture,

Sitting with dignity and ease,

Relaxation.

And throughout the meditation,

I'll be using the sound of bells as an invitation to presence,

An invitation for awareness.

This meditation is oriented towards cultivating a natural,

Open,

Spacious wakefulness of mind,

Pointing to the natural,

Luminous clarity of awareness itself,

Effortless and spontaneous.

So beginning by opening the awareness to hearing,

To sounds,

To the silence and the sounds that emerge out of that silence.

The sound of my voice,

The sound of the bells.

Letting attention rest at ease.

Sounds appear and are known effortlessly in awareness.

No inside,

No outside.

Simply sounds appearing and disappearing in this open field of awareness.

No need for effort,

Struggle.

Please continue.

Sound.

Sounds arise and then known in awareness.

Notice when attention wanders,

Sound naturally allows awareness to reassert itself in the field of the present.

Nothing to do or undo.

Awareness ever present.

Rest in this knowing quality of awareness.

Whenever it appears in the field of your experience,

Noticing how it's known,

How it's seen,

Felt,

Quite effortlessly.

Sound.

Sound.

Becoming aware of the sensations in the body that appear,

That arise and pass at their own accord selflessly.

Sense how they appear like touch points in space.

When we let go of the idea or the image of the body,

What's here right now?

Sensations,

Tingling,

Vibration,

Energy,

Movement,

Density,

Hardness,

Lightness.

Appearing and disappearing in this space-like nature of awareness.

Know this for yourself.

Look directly at your own experience.

No arms,

No legs,

No torso,

No head.

Simply sensations being known in this open field of attention.

Sound.

Sound.

Sensations that arise from the process of breathing,

Happening naturally by itself.

Breath comes in,

Sensations unknown,

Naturally,

Spontaneously.

Letting go even of the concept of breath.

There is no breath.

Simply movement of air,

Movement of sensation,

Felt directly like touch points in space,

Coming and going by itself.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sounds appearing and disappearing in this vast open space of attention.

Sensations coming and going in the field of awareness.

Sound.

Sound.

From time to time,

Feelings,

Emotions appear like mist,

Like rain,

Like storms passing through the field of awareness,

Field of the body.

Know directly the nature of these feelings,

These emotions.

Arising from nowhere,

Returning to nowhere.

Touching,

Reverberating through the field of awareness.

Not I,

Not mine.

Simply feelings arising due to conditions,

Passing away due to conditions.

These too can be known effortlessly in this luminous clarity of awareness.

Look directly to your own experience.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sounds appearing and disappearing.

Sensations coming and going.

Feelings,

Emotions blowing through like the breeze.

Known spontaneously in awareness.

Natural knowing of mind.

Nothing to do.

No effort required.

Simply resting in this knowing quality of awareness.

Sound.

Sound.

In the sky-like nature of your own mind,

Thoughts appear like clouds across this vast expanse of sky.

No need to do anything with the clouds to interfere.

Simply resting in awareness.

Clouds come,

Clouds go.

Arising and passing out of conditions.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Abiding in awareness.

Sounds appear and are known.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Look directly at the nature of your mind itself.

Empty,

Open,

Clear,

Cognizant.

Awake to whatever appears in the field of awareness.

Sounds,

Sensations,

Feelings,

Thoughts,

Images.

The cascading waterfall of experience.

Mind naturally present.

Naturally cognizant.

Sound.

Look directly at awareness itself.

Does it have a location,

A color,

A shape,

A form?

Can it be owned?

Does it arise and pass away?

Look directly at the nature of awareness itself.

Open,

Clear,

Luminous,

Unobstructed,

Radiant,

Cognizant,

Clarity itself.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

The nature of awareness is vivid,

Vivid as a flawless piece of crystal.

Intrinsically empty,

Naturally radiant,

Ceaselessly responsive.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Keep returning to the simplicity of this moment.

Sound.

Sound.

Whatever arises in the field of your experience,

Spontaneously with awareness.

Rest in this knowing.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

Sound.

So as you hear the final three bells,

These are the bells that signify the end of the meditation.

Continue resting in this open field of receptivity,

This open awareness.

And as the last bell is rung,

You're welcome to stay sitting in the meditation if you choose to open your eyes and maintain a continuity of awareness.

Continuity of this effortless quality of knowing.

Eyes open,

Form,

Images,

Color appear and are also simply known in awareness.

Nothing to do about it,

Nothing to fix.

Simply rest in the center of your own knowing.
