Hello,
And welcome.
We'll be anchoring ourselves in the present moment,
Using our breath and visualization to cultivate inner balance and a sense of calm.
Settle in to a relaxed but alert position,
Whether it may be sitting,
Standing,
Or lying down.
Rest your hands wherever they fall naturally.
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze,
And begin to bring awareness to the natural rhythm of your breath.
If at any time you find your mind wandering,
Just bring your focus back to your breath.
You can think of your breath as your anchor,
Your home base.
And from here,
You can always begin again.
On your next inhale,
Imagine your breath flowing through your body,
From the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
And as you exhale,
Release any tension as you ease into the present moment.
Now,
Slowly begin to bring your awareness to the part of your body making contact with the ground.
Feel the weight of your body connecting to the earth with each breath.
Begin to imagine roots growing beneath you,
Into the earth,
Penetrating the soil,
Sediment.
With each breath,
Imagine your roots growing deeper,
Allowing you to become more still,
Centered,
And solid.
With each in-breath,
Feel anchored.
With each out-breath,
Feel your roots grow.
Trees are a powerful symbol of strength.
In a storm,
The crown of a tree may bend and sway,
And smaller branches may even break off.
But because of its roots that run deep,
The trunk of the tree remains stable,
Strong,
And grounded.
So are you.
Stable,
Strong,
And grounded.
Slowly bring your awareness back to your breath and its natural rhythm,
Noticing what it feels like to breathe in,
Noticing what it feels like to breathe out.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes if they were closed.
And if you soften your gaze,
Slowly widen your view to receive your surroundings.
Thank you for practicing this grounding meditation with me.
