Hello,
This is Mary Ellen Van Dyke Brown and today I'll be guiding you through a short meditation to help boost your confidence if you're feeling insecure,
Anxious,
Or just need a pick-me-up.
Begin by finding a comfortable position,
Either seated or reclined.
Use pillows or cushions to support yourself so your body can fully relax.
When you're settled,
Close your eyes.
We'll begin with some breath work to relax the body and then use affirmations to help create a positive inner dialogue to carry you through hard times.
Our breath work is called the one-two breath because the exhale is twice as long as the inhale.
Extending your exhale helps to remove all the deoxygenated air from your lungs and it creates a parasympathetic or rest and digest response in your body.
We'll begin by exhaling completely.
Then inhale to the count of four and exhale to the count of eight.
Again,
Inhale to the count of four and exhale to the count of eight.
One more time,
Inhale to the count of four and exhale to the count of eight.
Let your breath return to its normal rhythm and do a quick scan of your body.
If you notice any areas of tension,
See if you can relax your muscles and soften your skin in those areas.
You can check in with your jaw,
Your neck and shoulders,
Your back,
Hips,
Legs,
Hands and feet.
Let your body soften into gravity and fully relax.
Now we'll move on to our confidence boosting affirmations.
Remember that with affirmations we say what we want to be true and we don't need to think about whether or not a statement is true in this moment.
We're planting seeds and manifesting what we want to realize.
I'll say a statement and you'll repeat it silently to yourself.
I am brave and resilient.
I move through life's challenges with grace.
I speak to myself with kindness and compassion.
I trust my body and my mind.
I have what it takes to be successful.
When I need to begin again I do so with compassion.
I am always growing and learning more about myself and the world.
I believe in myself.
I am ready for what today will bring.
Take a deep breath in and exhale completely.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes and when you're ready open your eyes and notice how you feel.
