Hello,
Welcome to this postpartum yoga nidra.
We will start this yoga nidra laying down on your back.
During the session you might feel like you're dozing in and out of consciousness.
It is really okay,
You just need to know that your brain will be awake.
The point here is not to fall asleep and the point is just to enter this deep yogic sleep with your brain following my voice.
And I'm gonna offer this intention for this yoga nidra session.
The intention is to feel supported,
To be supported.
So you're lying down on your back in a comfortable position with your arms and your legs extended.
Your palms are facing upwards.
Take a deep breath in and as you exhale allow your body to sink deeply into the surface below you.
Take another deep breath in and as you exhale imagine a sense of grounding and stability flowing through your body.
You know that you are exactly where you need to be in this moment and that everything is unfolding exactly as it should.
As you are laying down on your back bring first your attention to your toes,
To the palms of your feet and the top of your feet and to your ankles,
Your calves,
Your leg,
Your knees,
To your thighs and your hips,
Your buttocks,
Your belly,
Your lower back,
Upper back and your chest,
Your armpits,
Your shoulder,
Your arms,
Your elbows,
Your forearms,
Your wrists,
Your thumbs,
Your index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Pinky finger and bring back the attention up through your arms to the shoulders and to the neck,
The throat,
The chin,
The jaw,
The back of your ears,
The mouth,
Cheeks,
The ears,
The nose,
Under your eyes,
Your temples,
The back of your head,
Your eyes,
Your forehead and the crown of your head.
Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
Now bring your attention to the five elements earth,
Water,
Fire,
Air and ether.
As you rest in this peaceful state imagine each element flowing through your body nourishing and supporting you in its own unique way.
Take another deep breath in and exhale.
We begin with the element of earth.
Visualize the earth beneath you feeling its solidity and stability.
Mama earth,
Imagine this element flowing through your body grounding and anchoring you to the present moment.
Allow yourself to feel a deep sense of stability and security.
Next move your attention to the element of water.
Visualize a gentle stream flowing through your body washing away any tension or stress.
Imagine the water nourishing your body and your spirit allowing you to feel calm,
Peaceful and content.
Focus now on the element of fire.
Visualize a warm glowing light flowing through your body filling you with warm energy and vitality.
Allow this element to kindle the flame of your inner strength and resilience.
Move then your attention to the element of air.
Visualize a gentle breeze flowing through your body clearing any stagnant energy and refreshing your mind and your spirit.
Imagine this element filling you with a sense of lightness and ease.
Finally focus on the element of ether.
Visualize the vast expanse of the sky above you filled with endless possibility and potential.
Imagine this element connecting you to the infinite wisdom and creativity of the universe allowing you to tap into your inner wisdom and intuition.
As you rest in this peaceful state allow yourself to feel the interconnectedness of all things.
Know that you are part of something greater and that you are deeply supported and nourished by the energy of the five elements.
These five elements are here.
They support you.
They support you as a mother,
As you are supporting your child.
They support you in your rest and your recovery during your postpartum journey.
They support you to anchor and stabilize your mind and your emotions that can be flowing in the period of postpartum.
Know and trust that these five elements have been here for you since the day you were born and they continue to be here and support you in your role as a mother.
Take a few deep breaths and as you exhale gently bring awareness back to your body.
Wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes.
You maybe want to rotate your wrists and your ankles.
Move your head from side to side and when you are ready you can slowly sit up.
Take a moment to acknowledge yourself for taking this time to nourish and support your postpartum journey.
Knowing that you can return to this state of peace and relaxation whenever you need it.
Namaste.
