It is time,
My dear soul friend,
It's time to reflect back on your day.
To notice the blessings,
The challenges,
Even the opportunities to turn deeper into God.
To reflect on the day helps you to notice even the most gentlest of movements of the Holy Spirit that are sometimes lost in all of the activity.
Each day is a gift,
Although at times it may not always feel that way.
There are those moments,
Those conversations,
Situations or events that invite you to turn to God,
Invite you into a deeper connection with God.
May even bring you peace and joy.
And then there are those times that draw you deeper into fear,
Into doubt,
Even a feeling of desolation.
Perhaps causing you to feel like you've lost your connection with God or that you forget your faith and trust.
Those times may have even caused you to respond in a way that was reactive and perhaps not the way that you intended at all.
Let us now begin.
Getting in a comfortable position,
Sitting or laying down,
Take a deep cleansing breath,
Closing your eyes and let your body relax.
As you relax,
As you notice where in your body you might be holding tension,
Breathe into that area,
Allowing your muscles to soften and to relax even further.
With each gentle breath,
Release and let go.
Beloved Lord,
I ask for your blessing on this,
Your child.
Give them the grace to look back over the day through the light of your presence.
As we say,
Come Holy Spirit.
Looking back over the day,
Starting at the beginning when you opened your eyes and you greeted the new morning.
What were the moments that drew you deeper into God?
What were the feelings?
What were the thoughts that accompanied those moments?
Continue to observe the morning into the early afternoon.
What do you notice?
As the day unfolded,
What were the moments that brought you consolation?
That is to say,
That drew you deeper into God.
Was there a particular time that you noticed God's presence?
What were the feelings and the thoughts that you experienced?
Now reflecting the middle of the afternoon to late afternoon,
What do you notice that may have brought you consolation?
Which is to say,
That drew you deeper into God?
Was there a time that you noticed God's presence?
What were the feelings and the thoughts that you experienced?
And now receive the gentleness of the Holy Spirit to look upon your entire day,
To notice those moments,
Perhaps the situations,
Conversations,
Events,
Particular person that may have drawn you into a sense of fear or doubt,
Of loneliness,
Desolation,
Those moments that may have caused you to respond in a way that was reactive,
Perhaps not the way that you intended at all,
Those times that may have pulled you into a sense of resentment or frustration,
Causing you to turn from peace and faith.
What did you feel?
What were the thoughts?
And now allow yourself to embrace gratitude and acceptance for the entire day with all that has been revealed to you.
Allow yourself to feel the love of God.
The peace that surpasses all understanding is yours.
Remember,
This day was a gift to you.
What grace do you need for tomorrow?
Beloved Lord,
You know what this,
Your child,
Needs.
Pour out your grace,
Your mercy,
The light of your presence upon them now as they rest and sleep and as they awaken to the new day,
Ready to receive all of the blessings and the gift that you have for them.
Let it be so.
Let it be now.
And with much gratitude,
Amen.
