It is said that we can have 80,000 thoughts a day - most of which are repeated day in and day out. A dialogue that runs on in the background like a running commentary. Now if your dialogue is mainly positive and confidence boosting then that is great, however in reality we are usually our own worst critiques and we speak to ourselves in a way that we would no other. Affirmations are simple sentences that can interrupt our negative thought processes and help build a more balanced dialogue after a period of time and consistent practice.

Welcome to this short relaxation with an added affirmation.

This affirmation is about feeling secure,

Feeling safe.

So we'll get started straight away.

You can do this laying down,

Sat up,

Stood up,

And it's so short you can actually do this anywhere at any time without really anyone else noticing that you're doing it.

So if you're seated,

Just make sure you have your feet on the ground,

The soles of your feet connecting with the surface beneath you.

Bring to attention your shoulders,

All those tension areas,

Your neck,

Your eyes,

You may just want to lower your gaze as if you're reading a piece of paper beneath you.

Bring attention to your back.

You want to be upright but really softening the muscles all the way down.

Feeling the connection through your base.

The gravity pulling it down into the earth.

Whilst from the crown,

Maybe feeling it lengthening through a slight tug up into the universe.

I'm gonna just ask you to take two or three deeper breaths,

Just smooth breathing out for just one or two counts more than what you're breathing in.

Just allowing your body to have a moment of relaxation and for you to get to that nice still space within.

And the affirmation that I want to share with you today is a really simple one.

It's one that I've used many times.

Really feel,

First of all,

The feet,

The way your feet is connecting,

How solid the earth is beneath you.

And see if you can't bring that solidness up into that space.

See if you can't bring that solidness up into that space of stillness.

And say in your own mind these really easy words of I am safe.

I am safe.

I am safe wherever I am and in whatever I do.

I am safe.

See if you can't say these words,

I'll leave a gap in between,

In your own mind,

In your own heart.

I am safe.

I am safe.

I am safe.

I am safe wherever I am and whatever I do.

I am safe.

Just allow that to shake through your body.

Thank you for joining me.

This concludes our short relaxation.

Thank you.
