Hello and welcome to the space!
My name is Maya and I'm going to be guiding you through this meditation today.
So this meditation is specifically supportive if you are experiencing some discomfort.
We are going to sit with the discomfort and this can be either specifically somewhere in your body that you're experiencing this discomfort,
It can be a stuckness that you're witnessing somewhere in your life.
When we go through these uncomfortable seasons,
These uncomfortable moments,
Our first inclination is often to run away.
We want to get rid of the discomfort as quickly as we can and yet by avoiding it we often prolong that very thing that we're wishing to get away from.
So today we're just going to give space to what that discomfort is trying to teach us and hold the possibility that there are solutions that are just waiting to drop in the moment that you give them space to do so.
All right?
So to begin,
I just invite you to get settled into your space.
Make sure that you're somewhere where you will not be disturbed for a few minutes and you feel safe to really just relax and be fully present with yourself.
When you feel ready,
You can gently lower your gaze so it's resting somewhere on the horizon or you can close your eyes if you feel safe and ready to do so.
So just allowing yourself a moment to land here.
How are you feeling today?
Noticing any thoughts that are at the forefront of your mind,
Any emotions that may be coming to the surface now that you're giving yourself a little space to just be with what is.
Remembering that there is no right or wrong way to do this meditation.
Simply by showing up you are receiving exactly what it is that you need.
Now we're going to work with a breathing technique to start to bring some ease to the nervous system.
So I'll invite you to bring your index finger and your middle finger or your thumb just to rest on your right nostril.
So we're going to be breathing in and out through the left nostril for a few moments.
All right?
You can take a nice deep breath in through the nose.
And you're going to exhale through the nose.
Inhaling through the nose.
And exhale.
Inhale through the nose.
And exhale through the nose.
I'll invite you to just keep going like this.
Inhaling and exhaling through the left nostril.
And inhale.
Exhale.
One last round.
Inhale.
And exhale.
You can let go of the breathing technique and bring your arm down to rest at your side again.
And just take stock of how you feel after working with the nervous system a little bit.
Notice if anything feels any different.
If you feel any more settled here in this moment.
Beautiful.
Now I'm going to invite you to bring your attention to the body.
We're just going to lightly scan over the body and notice if there are any places that really stick out to you.
Just tracking sensations.
So there's no right or wrong answers here.
There is no good or bad.
Just notice.
Are there any places in your body that are a little more tender or a little more tense?
Maybe you feel some constriction in the throat.
Maybe you feel like your shoulders are hunched forward to protect your heart.
Maybe you find you are really bracing in the belly.
Or maybe there is some pain or tension in your hips.
Whichever area of the body is coming to mind in this moment that feels the most present for you,
I'm going to bring your attention and awareness into that space.
And just notice.
What is the quality of sensation that is present in this part of the body today?
Is it a constriction?
Does it feel like there is a ball of tension located in this spot?
Does it feel heavy or clouded?
Notice if any images come to mind.
So we're going to sit with this discomfort.
I'm going to acknowledge it and just gently ask it to reveal itself.
To you in front of your body.
So asking this discomfort to take shape and take form that you can look at just to give yourself a little space from the discomfort.
This can look like a ball of energy that's being held in front of your body.
In front of the area where it originated from.
Let yourself observe.
Does this discomfort have a specific color,
A specific texture,
A specific shape?
It's okay if what comes to mind is a little wild.
Sometimes discomfort can take the form of a spirit animal or a glob of ink.
Notice if it's saying anything as well.
If there is any murmured whispers or words that it is shouting at you before you even ask it what it wants to tell you.
Again,
Just notice.
Notice how benign this discomfort is.
It's not causing you any harm per se.
In this moment,
You're just coexisting with it.
And now that you have a little space from it,
Maybe it doesn't seem like such a big deal.
Maybe it doesn't seem quite so scary.
You continue to sit with this discomfort.
You're going to awaken your curiosity.
And ask this ball of energy what it is trying to bring to your awareness.
What is it here to teach you?
Why has it come to the forefront for you today?
Remember this discomfort cannot hurt you.
It is simply a ball of energy.
So whatever words it has to say,
Let them wash over you.
Take them in and examine them.
Thank you,
Discomfort.
Is there anything else that you have to say to me today?
Is there anything else that you need for me to know?
You can tell this discomfort that you hear it,
You understand.
That makes sense.
Once you feel this discomfort has voiced everything it needs to tell you,
Notice if there's anything that you want to say to this discomfort.
You can voice these words out loud or just in your heart.
Whatever feels most true for you in this moment.
Let yourself get it out.
If there's frustration,
If there is anger,
If there is sadness or fear,
You're going to let yourself have the space now to speak what you need.
And this discomfort has the wherewithal to hear you.
So you are being understood by one another in this moment.
Once you feel you've said everything you need to express,
Just going to let yourself pause here for a moment.
What would it look like for this discomfort to feel safe enough to dissolve?
Calling forth divine love,
Divine light to hold the space for the situation to resolve itself.
You can imagine just this brilliant white golden light surrounding the space that you find yourself in now.
Allowing this light to hold you as well as holding this ball of energy that has been existing within your body that now exists outside of your body.
This discomfort that you've been walking with for many days.
Knowing that it is safe to let it go.
You've learned what you need to do.
This discomfort has heard you out.
You understand each other.
The energy is now safe to dissolve.
Let it return to the light.
Let it be released with love.
Let it go.
And take a nice deep breath in through the nose.
And open your mouth,
Sigh it out.
Bring your awareness back into the body and just see how you feel.
Notice if anything has shifted for you.
If there is a new levity that you find.
Within your body.
If there is more ease.
If there is just a little bit more space for you to exist.
We're just going to wrap you in a warm bubble of soft white light.
Just to seal in the work that you've done today.
So you can imagine this light just surrounding you now.
Intending that it stay with you as long as you need this protection.
When you feel ready you can bring your hands together over your chest space.
Thanking yourself for showing up for you today.
For letting go of what no longer serves you.
Of what you no longer need to carry with you.
Through the rest of your week.
Through the rest of this month.
Through the rest of this year.
Take all the time you need here.
When you feel ready.
You can open your eyes.
