In this episode, Dr. Gina discusses the 5-Day Life Clarity Formula Course. She explains why she created this program, whom it's for, and how it will bring you from ambivalence and chaos to clarity. We discuss what the program is all about and what you will get out of it. You don't know what you don't know and you can't transform your life if you don't know where to start or if you don't uncover what the real issues are. Clarity is the first step to transformation.

Welcome to Living Simply,

A guide to mindful living and mindful parenting with your host,

Dr.

Gina.

Hey,

Everybody.

Welcome to Living Simply with Dr.

Gina Maggirogrono.

Dr.

Gina,

How are you today?

I'm pretty good.

How are you,

Ben and Crystal?

I'm wonderful.

Thank you.

Yeah,

So we are joined as always by Crystal Tubbs.

So today we are talking about something that everybody needs a little bit more of,

Gina,

And that is clarity.

And I'm excited about this.

You have a new program that you've been working on that you've talked a lot about with us behind the scenes,

And I'm really excited about it.

It's called the Life Clarity Formula.

And so do you want to tell us a little bit about that first,

Or do you want to talk about why?

Well,

I have a question for you to start.

Why clarity?

Why is clarity so important?

Because clarity gives us direction on the next steps to take.

So it really stems from my work with clients when,

Whether it was in my forensic work,

Whether it was when I did assessments for the school board,

Or whether it's clients just showing up to find solutions to their problem,

We can't find a solution until we get clear on what's wrong.

So usually when people show up,

They think it's one thing,

But it often ends up being something else.

And how do we do that?

It's through a process called an intake where we assess the situation,

We assess the person,

The context,

Their personality,

Circumstances,

And through guided questions we get clearer and clearer about what's happening,

What's going on.

So sometimes clients will think,

Let's say,

I have an issue with anxiety and stress,

And in the end we discover,

Well,

You don't have anxiety,

You're in a marriage,

And you're totally unhappy,

And let's unpack that.

So they think it's anxiety because they Google and Dr.

Google tells them they have anxiety,

But it ends up being something totally different that they were unwilling to see or unconscious.

So when we're not clear about what's happening,

We look for the solution in the wrong places.

And often we don't know what we don't know.

So I thought it'd be good to create a program where people can go through a process of questioning so they can get a bit of clarity on what's going on in their life that maybe is not working.

So that would guide them as to what to do next.

So that's how it came about.

I'm kind of curious about why you decided to go this route as like a group thing,

Because there's a Facebook group,

But people go through the course on their own,

Right?

So why did you decide to kind of create a community around it?

Because obviously it's an online course and it's not guided.

You go at your own pace.

It's over five days.

But if people want to take more days,

They can.

And the group allows community sharing of questions.

I'll pop in there and do the lives like we're doing now and answer questions that will dive deeper into clarity.

And also,

Because this is a beta program and I'm offering it for free,

I'm testing it.

Also open to feedback.

Maybe people want more questions to get more clarity.

So the group allows them to not go through this alone.

They go,

I'm there to help them out through the group.

I'm curious when this starts then too.

And then are you is this going to be an ongoing Facebook group or are you only going to be in there like after the course opens and you're only doing it for the five days while people are going through it?

Or how does that work?

So the course is open now and I will stay in that group the whole duration of it.

And for as long as this course exists.

So that's the private Facebook group for the Life Clarity formula.

But then I will have different Facebook groups for the paid program.

So it's really for this program and I will be in there personally.

I have no plan of closing it for now,

But it's open.

Yeah,

I like it.

And this is exciting stuff.

You know what I mean?

I think that any time I really like the idea of Facebook groups.

Facebook groups are a wonderful way for people to feel connected.

And this is sort of a wonderful opportunity for people to have their own like shared community in this sense of people that are all looking for the same answers to the same questions or similar answers to similar questions,

Which is always very important.

So we talked about why clarity and we talked about what the Facebook group is and what the program is going to be.

Can you sort of go through a little bit about what you're talking about in this?

And what are some of the ways to gain clarity?

Yes.

So in the program,

It's spread over five days because I want people to take their time.

This is not a quick fix.

Just fill out questionnaires.

So it goes from general to specific.

So the first day we look at people's level of happiness in various domains in their life.

So we go.

It's a fairly very short questionnaire.

And then what they need to do that day is answer.

But there's a workbook that goes with it where they can reflect and journal about what pops up after they've responded to these questions.

So I want them to have time to reflect versus just quickly answer the questions.

And then the next day you will be sent another questionnaire,

But it looks at your life satisfaction.

So one is happiness.

The other one is life satisfaction because they're interconnected.

So we look again at various domains in their life and their level of satisfaction.

So because people tend to live on autopilots,

Unconscious,

They most often don't ask the right questions.

Now the life satisfaction pushes it a little bit further.

And then day four,

That's where a lot.

There's a lot more work that's put into it.

And we look at life stressors again in various domains of their lives.

So work,

Family,

The couple,

Personal life stressors with health,

Mental health,

Physical health.

So we're really diving deeper in the various domains.

And again,

It's a third day.

There's the workbook where they reflect what popped up.

If there's more questions that are coming up,

More answers coming up.

And then we end on the fourth day on a self-care questionnaire.

So it looks at different levels of self-care and boundaries throughout your life.

So throughout various domains of your life,

People think self-care,

Like we talked about in the last podcast,

That it might just be about getting your hair done,

Your nails done,

Getting a massage,

Going to the gym.

But it goes beyond that.

Self-care is a way of life is how do you set boundaries with people?

Do you say no too much?

Do you say yes too much?

It's basically looking at how you place yourself in the world with your family,

With your partners at work and how you prioritize yourself.

So there's also a connection there with self-esteem,

Self-worth and how you value your own health.

And then on the last day,

We wrap it all up and we bring all the results together.

And I give you a little bit of direction how to set goals for the next three months,

What you should target,

Where you want to create some change to increase your level of happiness and satisfaction.

So that's a bit of a wrap up of the whole five day program.

And in the Facebook group,

We would go over that.

But I'll also offer good tools,

Answer questions,

Bits of wisdom here and there.

And that's how the program will work.

Awesome.

Yeah,

That's that's fantastic.

So let's talk about some of those things individually.

Right.

So the five days to go from I think the the tagline on the on the course is from chaos to clarity in five days.

It's a bold,

Bold statement.

But you're but you're diving deep on these things.

So let's dive deep a little bit right now into some of these aspects of gaining clarity.

Right.

And so you just explained where you would start on that.

How how can somebody what what is the first step that you would say for somebody like just,

You know,

Without the course,

For example,

Right now at their house,

Their life is chaotic.

They're doing way too many things all at the same time.

They have you know,

Maybe they have a kid starting distance learning or in-person learning right now and they work and blah,

Blah,

Blah.

You know,

Just life is a mess right now for everybody.

And it's really hard to to be clear on that.

So what would be like your first steps right now that somebody could do to be proactive about this?

So what I usually do,

Actually,

When I first meet a client and I before I see them,

I have them complete a questionnaire that gives me a good idea of where they're at in their life.

I start with the end in mind.

So I ask I tell them,

Assume I'm taking a movie of your life so I can't read your mind.

I really it's like a movie.

You see it and there's a narrative and you see behaviors.

And I say,

You've you've been working with me for six months,

A year,

And you know that the work we did together really worked.

What would we see differently in this movie?

What would I see?

So often people know what they don't want,

But they don't know what they do want.

So they'll often go,

Oh,

I'll be less stressed.

I'll be I'll have less arguments.

My mind won't be so busy when I hit the pillows.

I said,

OK,

If I watch a movie,

I can't see that.

What do I see?

So right there,

People have to struggle and sit and wait.

What do I want my life to look like?

So if I'm like,

OK,

If you're not stressed,

What do I see?

Because not stress for you is different than not stress for me.

So they would see them.

Oh,

Yeah,

I'm waking up in the morning and I'm having my cup of coffee,

Reading the newspaper or magazine or a book.

And I'm laughing with my kids and I have a smile on my face.

So I make them go really,

Really deep into what does it look like in the positive sense?

Not what you don't want,

But what do what do I see that you want?

So example could be I we see an alarm clock and they wake up at seven and they're perky and they're going for a jog and they go to bed with a smile on their face and hugging their partner.

So I walk them through their whole life at the end of our journey together.

What does it look like?

What does it feel like?

And right there,

They start seeing and visualizing the positive narrative versus what I hate about my life.

And when you start seeing there,

You start then stuff starts popping up,

Because let's say they didn't come and talk about issues with their partner.

Right there,

We'll see,

Oh,

My partner and I are laughing more.

We're doing stuff together.

So now I know,

Well,

You're actually not laughing together.

You're not doing stuff together.

So the negative is insinuated by the positive that they want to see.

So we we start with the end.

What does happy look like?

What does you being satisfied in various domains look like?

So I go to work and I can talk with my boss or I shut off my work at five.

I'm home playing with my kids,

Seeing my friends.

So that's why I look at happiness and life satisfaction now.

And where do you project yourself in the future after you've done the work?

And then going back,

Then we can dive deeper.

OK,

What is stressing you out?

What is not working the way you'd like it to?

And we finish with the best part,

Which is how are you taking care of yourself?

Which is the self care portion.

You know,

A lot of people say,

You know,

Don't talk about things in the negative,

Like when you are doing this kind of work.

Why is it so important to kind of flip that and start thinking about exactly what you do want instead of what you don't want?

Because the brain doesn't hear the negative in the sense,

I'll give you an example.

It works that way with kids when they're very little and we go,

Don't go in the street.

Well,

It doesn't tell them what to do.

It's better to say stay on the sidewalk.

So when we say I don't want this,

I don't want that.

OK,

What do you want?

The negative doesn't give you direction.

It just reinforces what you don't want.

So it's not about just being fluffy,

Positive.

The brain cannot get direction if you don't tell it what it does want.

So if you know what you do want,

Then you'll know what to look for.

You'll see the opportunities versus focus on the things you don't like.

So when you get clear on what you want,

What you want to see,

What you want present in your life.

Well,

When opportunities do show up,

You'll be open to receiving them.

Whereas if you're in the negative,

What you don't want,

You only see more of what you don't like.

I don't know if it answers your question.

No,

No,

It does.

Sometimes people get caught up in the positive,

Negative aspect of advice.

There's a lot of think positive kind of stuff that goes around.

But it's not good to be Pollyanna.

I think that's kind of where people get tripped up to.

I think having that deeper explanation is really helpful.

Yeah,

And also,

Yeah,

When I meant the positive and negative wasn't the label of positive is what's present and what's absent versus positive,

Negative,

Good or bad.

But also,

You're totally right.

When we want to reframe someone's mindset,

We don't want to go to the other extreme because they won't believe it anyway.

So it's better to go from negative to a neutral mindset than go to the other extreme of,

You know,

Let's say someone's body image issues and they go,

Oh,

My my thighs are too big.

You go,

Oh,

No,

My thighs are beautiful.

I'm beautiful as I am.

They'll never believe it.

So you want to bring them to the neutral.

Oh,

Many other women have thighs like this and there are other women I find beautiful who have bigger thighs versus I'm extremely beautiful and you won't believe it anyways.

So you're totally right.

You don't want to go to Pollyanna extreme positive because you won't believe it.

So it'll have no impact to create change.

I like it.

So the Facebook group that's involved with this right,

The clarity method,

Women of clarity,

The group is called Women of Clarity Moving Forward.

Is that correct?

I have it on here.

Moving from a clarity.

Yes.

Sorry.

Moving forward.

Sorry.

I was trying to get the cut off and I didn't want to get it wrong.

So like tell us a little bit about like what's going to happen inside of the group more so.

And I really love the obviously and it says on here on the Web site,

Like personal Facebook,

You can connect directly with Gina,

Which is always a great help,

Especially when you're when you're trying out this course.

It's free right now.

It's amazing.

And you can.

But this free group,

That's really what I think is going to be super important.

You're going to be doing lives in the group and people are going to be able to talk to other like minded people who are looking for the same answers that they are.

Can you tell us a little bit about what sort of things are going to be happening when you go live,

For example?

So lives,

I could either based on the discussions that are happening within the community.

So people who do complete the group have comments.

So I want to have Q&A's or lives that are related to what's actually happening in the group.

So I can't predict yet what is going to happen,

But I really want to make it really connected to the program and what is popping up so people can ask questions before there's a live during.

I'll probably also have prerecorded videos.

I've already posted a free PDF.

Right now I forget what it was because I've done so much work in the last week.

But resources for them,

Even possibly podcasts that would help or books that I think would be helpful to dive deeper if they're not ready to do one on one coaching.

I'd like to promote other people as well and how it's in line with the work that I do.

So I really want to offer a lot of tools,

Tips,

Tricks,

Strategies that are related to the program,

But also answer questions and interests that would be relating to clarity or if there's too much chaos.

And if you're not in a chaotic state,

It doesn't matter if you're in an ambivalent state,

You're still unclear as to what to do.

So from ambivalence to chaos to clarity.

I was going to say that most of us are probably in a chaotic state right now.

And then you said ambivalent.

I was like,

No,

That's the other half.

I don't think most people right now are either chaotic or ambivalent.

And I think that community helps.

Research shows when people are accountable to other people and they show up with like minded people,

They tend to commit more to growth and change and changing habits.

Absolutely.

That kind of brings me to another question that popped up.

Who is this course for?

Like people that are ready to change their lives,

People that feel like they're stuck and maybe don't know how to move forward.

This is course designed for.

Yes.

So this course,

I work a lot with business women,

Professionals,

Entrepreneurs.

So people who are ready to move at the next level in their life.

I rarely seen people in their 20s asking these questions.

So often it's people 35 to women older.

There's also men,

But often there's more women that are seeking my help.

So,

You know,

Once they've passed the hump,

Their career is kind of moving along.

Often people have kids.

So they're really a lot of them near midlife.

They're asking questions because suddenly things,

The dust is starting to settle.

They're in a groove and they're like,

OK,

There's got to be more to life than this craziness that often I don't necessarily see in 20 year olds.

But if there's a mature 20 year old who's interested,

I'm not closing it to anybody.

But typically it's older people.

But I've seen younger people been interested as well.

And guys,

But right now I'm working more with women.

I'm offended.

I know.

But you're part of the group,

So I welcome to you.

I'm part of the group so that I can share things.

But I think in the life there's already I think there's a guy who got the Life Clarity program,

If I'm not mistaken,

Unless it's his partner.

I'm just kidding.

That is why you asked me to join the group.

I know.

So anyway,

No,

And this is wonderful.

And again,

I'm a big proponent of Facebook groups in general because they do a lot of good for a lot of people.

And this is going to be one of them.

And it's a great way,

If you have questions and you can't,

Like Gina said a couple of minutes ago,

Like some people aren't ready for one on one coaching.

Some people can't afford one on one coaching,

But they need the help.

And joining this Facebook group is a wonderful way to do that.

And you get the free five day program and then you have the access.

You're in the group.

You're going to get the live videos.

You're going to get the Q&As.

You're going to be able to send Gina a message at any point that you want.

You're going to be able to post it.

Other people are going to be there to share their experiences with you,

Which is all really wonderful,

Positive stuff.

And,

You know,

A lot of times in these groups,

Just talking about stuff and seeing that you're not alone is really important.

And especially when your life is filled with chaos or ambivalence,

It's very isolating.

Right?

So if your life is chaos and you're juggling a lot of things in the air all at one time,

That's very hard.

And it can feel isolating and it can feel like you're on an island.

And this group is a bridge.

It's a bridge or at least a telescope to let you know.

A rope,

Maybe?

For an island,

You want a boat?

Oh,

A boat.

I thought a rope.

I was like,

A rope to a helicopter.

This is a very involved analogy,

Kristin.

So,

You know,

It's letting you know that there are other people out there who are going through the same things and who are looking for the same answers and who can help you.

The way that you can help them just by being there and being with each other and forming that sort of community.

So I think that the course is exciting for me.

And I'm excited to.

.

.

I really love the idea of filling out the questionnaires and sort of seeing your own growth in it.

And the way that you.

.

.

I think that writing things down.

.

.

Because the whole course is about clarity,

Gina.

And one of the biggest things that you always talk about that is stopping us from getting clarity is living consciously.

And the thing that these workbooks and that these questionnaires and the way that everything is mapped out is making you do is sort of organize your thoughts and organize your values and really consider things that you usually take for granted and you don't take the time to ever consider for yourself.

So I think that,

You know,

Even if you take out the fact that you have an expert in the field who's a wonderful coach and doctor who is going to be guiding everybody through this,

You know,

Literally just doing that for yourself is amazing.

So that's all really wonderful.

And I think that this is a wonderful course that you've set up here.

You're welcome.

So let's take a look at it here.

I love the images of this.

People can join the community.

They can literally just go to the website,

Drgena.

Ca,

Which will be in the description of this video.

So you can click it there and you can go check that out.

You can find Gina on her personal Facebook page to check it out there.

And it'll have the links all over there.

And the links are all at drgena.

Ca.

What's inside the Life Clarity Formula?

Obviously,

If you just go to this website,

You can see everything that's in there.

Day one,

Happiness ranking,

Day two,

Life satisfaction,

Day three,

Life stressors,

Day four,

Self-care,

Day five,

Putting it all together,

Bonuses and free resources.

And not only is it a group,

But it is a community.

And I think that that's very,

Very important for everybody who is looking for this right now.

So I just want to say thank you for everything that you're doing,

Because it's going to help a lot of people.

Thanks.

It's 100 percent.

My pleasure.

So that being said,

We have come to the time in the show where we talk about our moment of gratitude,

What we are grateful for.

And can you start this week?

Well,

First,

Gina,

Can you?

Well,

I was asking Crystal to start,

As always.

That was ambiguous,

But go on.

But Gina,

Can you,

Before we start,

Can you tell us why we take a moment at the end of every episode to talk about what we're grateful for today?

Well,

It's part of getting clarity,

Actually.

When you're all busy looking at what's not working in your life,

You get really stressed,

Depressed,

Anxious.

What helps is to look through the fog and look for what's working in your life,

What is already good.

And that helps reduce a bit of stress or perk up your mood and see that it's not that bad.

Even if there are bad things happening,

They will pass.

And in the difficult times,

There's always some good.

Awesome.

Crystal,

What are you grateful for this week?

Mine's kind of broad.

I don't know.

I am grateful for the discovery of yeast.

My friend gave me a sourdough starter.

I finally made it yesterday,

And that bread is delicious.

I'm so grateful that she gave it to me,

But not possible without yeast.

We had some friends come over and sit on the lawn.

It was funny.

It was the first time that I had ever met their baby,

And we're 30 feet away from each other with masks on.

But it was really nice,

And they brought a sourdough starter over for Allie.

And the male friend is like,

We gave you a homework assignment.

If you don't want it,

Throw it away.

You've got to feed it.

I think that's hilarious,

But I love that you discovered yeast.

I've never made yeast bread.

Don't judge me.

I'm not judging you.

I think it's great.

And obviously,

So many people have found a lot of comfort in that.

And a new hobby and a new passion.

Thank God for yeast during this pandemic.

Unless,

Of course,

You're gluten intolerant.

And it's not so fun anymore,

Is it?

Anyway,

My thing that I'm grateful for is actually clarity.

Yeah.

And so basically,

I had two conversations this weekend with two different friends.

And they both really opened my eyes.

The first conversation was about some things that opened my eyes to the wrong way that I had been approaching things in my life.

And then the second conversation referenced the first conversation and sort of figured out some of the things that I had been doing wrong.

And I changed those things even just the last few days.

And I feel so much better already,

Like just with the approach to letting go of things and breathing easier,

Metaphorically.

And just the joy that comes with clarity.

This is not a sell for this program at all.

This is literally just the thing I'm grateful for this week.

The joy that came with the clarity of some situations that had been bothering me for a few months.

Those.

Yeah,

I've literally slept easier the last few nights after I've had some clarity on this stuff.

So it's very,

Very nice.

And every day has been more full of joy.

Yeah.

Gina.

And you backed it up with actions.

So that's the perfect combination.

I did.

I did.

And they had immediate results.

Nice.

Yeah.

What am I grateful for?

I had an amazing weekend.

I rented an Airbnb in a tiny little shack by a lake.

No internet.

In the forest.

And I went there with my daughter and we had a blast.

We were like 10 feet from a deer.

We walked near in the forest with beautiful scenery.

It was just peaceful and just so great to be disconnected from everything and be in nature.

We're like,

We've got to do this again soon.

So I'm really grateful for this weekend.

That's amazing.

All right.
