The Cleansing
This material world around us seems weary, in a state of upheaval and chaos. At times we may go unaware and take those energies upon ourselves-creating fear, anxiety, helplessness and hopelessness through our negative thoughts. It is truly possible to wash everything off and feel clean and lighter. I invite you to this Christ-centered cleansing meditation.

Welcome to the cleansing.
You may notice that this wonderful Mother Earth is possibly weary of all that's going on in this troubled world.
And perhaps you're aware of the disturbance,
Stress,
And anguish around you,
And even perhaps within you,
And the fears and the worries.
And you may feel that you just want to wash it all off with wonderful,
Clear,
Healing water.
It has become too much.
And perhaps in the midst of all this chaos,
For just a moment,
It is possible to simply focus on your breathing,
And do some cleansing,
And let it all go.
So for now,
I invite you to take a wonderful deep breath,
And notice its coolness.
As you breathe out,
Notice its warmth.
Simply focus on your breathing for a moment.
And perhaps at this time,
As you breathe in,
Imagine a beautiful color and a healing light.
Whatever color comes up is the right one for you at this time.
Simply allow the light to fill you like sunshine in every cell of your body.
And as you breathe out,
Simply let all the darkness and weariness go.
As you breathe in,
Simply gather up all the stress,
Worry,
And fear that you notice in your head,
Face,
Throat,
Shoulders,
Arms,
And hands.
And as you exhale,
Turn it into a warm purple smoke,
And allow it to flow down your body,
Down your legs,
And out into the universe.
Another wonderful breath full of light and color.
And gather up all the darkness and fear in your chest,
Your heart,
Lungs,
Stomach,
And abdomen.
And as you exhale,
Turn it into a warm purple smoke,
Since it is illusion anyway,
And allow it to flow down your body,
Down your legs,
And out into the universe.
Allow yourself to be more deeply relaxed than you've ever been.
Wonderful.
And once more,
A deep cleansing breath of color and healing light.
Gather up all the anxiety and weariness in your legs,
Ankles,
And feet.
And as you exhale,
Turn it into a warm purple smoke,
And let it flow out into the universe.
Allow yourself to rest from the troubles of the world,
From the voices in your head.
Focus on your breathing,
And allow yourself to be more deeply relaxed than you've ever been.
Wonderful.
And allow your emotional self to be still and calm,
Like a lake with no ripples.
Notice that someplace above you,
A cone of white light descends around you.
You are safe.
And in this safe place,
It is okay to recognize the roots of the tension you've been experiencing.
You can be more aware of the voices you often hear in your head.
I'm not worthy.
I don't deserve love.
There's something wrong with me.
I will always be lonely.
I will never be loved and accepted just as I am.
No one cares.
And on and on.
They've been with you since you were very young,
And you've listened to them so long that you believe them.
And just notice how those thoughts create feelings of rejection,
Depression,
Abandonment,
And loneliness.
And of course,
You notice the actions taken because of those self-limiting beliefs,
Such as I'm not good enough,
Also created more darkness,
And perhaps created more loneliness and discouragement,
Feelings of hopeless,
And feeling dark and hoping for some cleansing water to just wash everything off.
So being aware of all of that,
Perhaps you notice a pinpoint of light inviting you to follow it.
You find yourself on a path leading into a dark forest.
It's frightening,
But you choose to trust that light.
And you know it is a path you must traverse.
The darkness is almost overwhelming as you move against the dark trees,
Feeling frightened,
Hoping for something of comfort.
Something startles you and brushes against your foot.
As you glance down,
You see a white rabbit at your side.
You don't know how long he's been there.
You kneel to touch his soft fur.
He looks into your eyes.
He knows you.
And you realize that you know him.
You've always known him.
As you cuddle him in your arms,
You bow your head and apologize to him for being so worn and soiled in his presence.
And you express your desire for crystal clean water,
To wash it all off and be clean.
He nods his head.
He understands.
As you travel together,
You notice again the dark green of the trees on each side of the path.
You feel a gentle breeze rustling your hair.
And you can hear it as it rustles the leaves on the trees as well.
Still following that point of light,
You move further into the dark forest.
You hear the song of the birds as they fly from tree to tree.
They are far above you.
And somehow,
Their song seems sad to you,
Like the echo of the whippoorwill.
As you travel this dark path,
You notice a caterpillar on the back of your left hand.
You are not afraid.
In fact,
You may feel comforted.
It may remind you of when you were young.
And you saw many caterpillars and wondered about them,
As children do,
With all their curious questions.
A caterpillar just living on a little leaf,
Eating and sleeping,
Eating and sleeping.
And you know that it will turn into a butterfly one day.
So one day a caterpillar,
And then a chrysalis or cocoon,
And the next day a butterfly.
Natural wonders.
And speaking of butterflies,
A beautiful yellow monarch lights right on your right hand.
As if you wished it so.
And perhaps you did.
You expressed your sadness to the caterpillar and the butterfly for never seeing the transformation that occurred in the chrysalis.
You always wanted to.
You continue on this dark path,
Still hoping for light and the cleansing water.
On your right you see a very large lion.
He looks ferocious.
Thank goodness he's asleep.
You tiptoe carefully.
You don't want to wake him.
As you are safely past him,
You glance over your shoulder and notice a little lamb cuddled under the ferocious lion's chin.
The lamb and lion,
Lying down together.
So interesting.
The path gets even darker.
The light is more dim.
You can barely see the tops of the trees.
It's difficult to focus.
You can smell the fragrance of flowers,
But can't see them.
The sun must have gone down.
It seems even darker.
You notice your tiredness,
The weariness of the world,
The voices in your head.
It truly does seem hopeless.
The desire for water and cleansing light increases.
As you continue down the path,
You sense that light and water are close.
But then,
A locked gate,
And it blocks your way.
What next?
It's the story of my life.
And it gets darker as you think that thought.
A small voice whispers,
The gate is your negative experiences,
Your lack of hope and doubt.
You don't have the key for this gate.
You simply fall down against it.
Feel such regret and anguish,
And just want to give up.
Then from the darkness,
Again,
A small voice.
Just listen and repeat after me.
I am so sorry for creating this darkness,
For the negative thoughts and self-limiting beliefs I adopted.
And as you speak those words,
You feel regret.
The next phrase,
Please forgive me.
And you certainly have a desire for a change of heart.
The third phrase,
Thank you.
Perhaps you feel great gratitude that through the atonement,
It is possible to change.
And the last phrase,
I love you.
And you remember that you are love.
That is your state of being.
You were always looking for it.
Well,
You didn't need to look for it.
You already are love.
And at this moment,
Perhaps,
You feel love for yourself,
For everyone and everything in this world.
The light around you increases.
And Christ stands before you.
You understand why the light increased.
He smiles at you and hands you a key.
And on it is written a word,
Forgiveness.
You understand.
As you forgive others and yourself,
It sets you free.
The darkness begins to lift.
And you unlock the gate.
And as you move down the path,
There's a beautiful pond.
The water you've been hoping for.
He takes your hand and leads you into the pool.
As you wade in,
You notice that the water is washing away all the dirt,
All the tears and anguish,
The doubts and fear.
Just your friend is playful.
Perhaps you'd forgotten that about him.
He laughs and splashes you with water.
And of course,
You splash right back.
Perhaps you never thought you would have a water fight with the Savior.
As you dive under the cleansing water,
You notice that the dirt simply washes away.
He reaches down and takes your hand and pulls you up.
You shake the water from your face and head.
You feel clean inside and out at last.
You wade to the shore and he begins to do a dance.
And you dance as well.
It's Jewish,
They dance.
And then he invites you to sit on a nice warm rock.
The sun is shining.
It is warm against your skin.
As you rest in that beautiful warm space,
A voice whispers yet again.
The rabbit represented your compassion,
Even in dark and difficult times.
And you didn't realize that you were the chrysalis,
The transforming power between the caterpillar and the butterfly.
They represent different stages of your journey.
The lion and lamb represent your strength and compassion that perhaps you were not aware of.
And then he puts his hand on your head,
Cleanses and blesses you,
Expresses his love for you and assures you that in your life's journey,
There will be struggles and hardships,
Reminds you that they are just there for your learning.
In order to have joy,
There must be some suffering or you wouldn't know the difference between suffering and joy.
He helps you remember that you have a purpose in this space.
Even as he embraces you and you are surrounded by brilliant light.
Perhaps you have a new appreciation of who you are,
Transforming more and more as you let go of harsh judgments towards yourself and others.
You can let go of the impossible expectations you had about yourself and have a softness for yourself and allow yourself to be who you really are in your own distinct,
Unique,
Creative way.
My sweet child,
You are more than enough.
And as the brilliant light begins to fade,
Perhaps you feel a powerful shift has taken place and will continue to do so as you continue your wonderful journey.
And for now,
Just feel yourself breathing gently in and out.
When you're ready,
I invite you to count to three,
Open your eyes and gently come back here and simply enjoy your wonderful transforming journey.
And so it is,
Sweet child.
