Struggling to quiet your thoughts at bedtime? This is a soothing sleep practice to help ease the mind from worry. This meditation is designed for when you are having obsessive thoughts that are keeping you awake, or when you are worrying about tomorrow. This meditation should not be listened to while driving or operating heavy machinery. Here we utilize three techniques to release worry and bring the body to a sense of calm. We allow space for conversations to be had in the mind space, for the visualization of the positive outcomes, and finally grounding into the earth. Hello,

My name is Kala and this is a guided meditation to help you to ease your mind when you're unable to sleep.

Perhaps something has triggered you,

Perhaps something someone said or some unresolved situation is circling around in your mind.

This meditation is not suitable if the thing keeping you awake is PTSD or some intense trauma,

But rather the obsessive flow of thoughts of something unresolved or unsaid or a conversation that needs to happen.

Begin by preparing your space.

Make sure the house is locked and you have water next to your bed.

Switch off the lights and ensure everything is ready and there is nothing to distract your thoughts.

Find your comfortable sleeping position.

At any point in this meditation,

Feel free to let go of the active listening and to drift gently off to sleep.

Begin by tapping into the flow of your breath.

Gently observe the breath traveling through the body.

Grant your stomach permission to expand as you inhale.

You might constrict the back of your throat ever so slightly so as to create an audible sound in your head.

Invite that breath to deepen,

Allow it to slow right down and begin to gently scan the body and locate the space in the body where stress or tension or anxiety is sitting.

It may be in the solar plexus associated with the digestive system or perhaps the ache is within the heart space.

Maybe you even have tension in the head.

Allow this breath to release and relax,

Inviting in healing energy on the inhale and simply granting yourself permission to let go as you exhale.

Allow this breath to become a friend and an aid as we move through this process.

If there is indeed a conversation that needs to be had,

I invite you to call upon the higher self of that person now.

Imagine that person in front of you now and say the thing that needs to be said but before you do,

Embed yourself into compassion.

Bring your focus to the heart center.

Imagine the heart expanding outwards as you breathe.

See if you can have this conversation in a way that calls for resolution.

Allow yourself to hear the words you need to hear from this other person.

If indeed the thing that's keeping you up is some kind of situation you're waiting to hear about,

Perhaps you're waiting for a sail to go through,

Maybe you're moving house,

Ask yourself the question,

What is it that you truly fear here?

If everything was to not go according to plan,

Could you survive?

Could you make another plan?

I invite you now to visualize the unfolding of this stressful situation in the best way possible,

Allowing yourself to plant and weave the seeds of success in this situation.

When all is said and done,

We cannot control all of the outer circumstances.

Our point of power,

Our ability to affect change is only in our own response to things.

There is nothing that can unfold that you cannot cope with or deal with.

And certainly your sleep right now is the most positive and empowering thing that you can allow to happen.

Anything that is tomorrow's problem can be left for tomorrow.

Right now,

The most important thing is to bring yourself into a space of calm and ease.

Use the breath and your ability to weave seeds through the imagination by way of visualization to bring yourself into peace.

Breathe in the ease.

Release the tension.

Imagine now that there is a system of roots growing out from beneath the body in all the places where you meet the surface below you.

Allow those roots to reach all the way to the center of the earth.

At the center of the earth is a pool of liquid healing golden light.

Allow your roots to take that in.

Watch as this liquid nutrient is absorbed all the way up this root system and enters into the body.

Allow yourself to be reminded of your connection to the earth and the world around you.

Allow this to trigger you into the remembrance that all of the things you worry about are really so small in the grander scheme of your life.

Allow now any of the stress,

The worry,

The tension to leave the body and exit through these roots,

Sending it into the earth to be composted.

Use the breath to direct that energy where it is needed within the body.

Allow that liquid golden substance to overflow from the crown of the head and to create a bubble of safety and healing surrounding you.

Allow yourself to remain in this healing chamber as you release and allow yourself to drift off into sleep.
