Hello and welcome to this special and enlightening meditation experience.

My name is Lee Anderson and I'm honored to guide you through this journey tonight.

This is Shadow and Light,

A guided meditation.

So we gather in a moment of reflection when the light around us is soft and the veal between inner and outer becomes thinner.

It is time for turning inward for quiet awareness,

For gently meeting what has been hidden.

You may have noticed the moon in the sky recently,

Bright,

Full and watching over us.

And then you may have seen it disappear,

Obscured in shadow.

This natural dance of light and dark,

Of brightness and stillness mirrors what we too experience in our lives.

Sometimes we shine,

Sometimes we hide.

And sometimes the shadows we see are simply parts of ourselves we haven't yet come to fully understand.

So tonight,

We'll explore both the light and the shadow with gentleness,

With curiosity and with compassion.

So let's begin.

Please take a moment to settle into a comfortable position.

You might like to be seated on a cushion,

In a chair,

Or perhaps lying down.

Allow your body to find a sense of symmetry,

Balanced and open so your energy can flow freely.

You may choose to place one palm facing upward,

Open to receive,

And the other palm facing down to ground and give.

So you can softly lower your gaze or perhaps close your eyes.

And then notice that deep breath coming in and turning around as you exhale slowly,

Letting and watching your breath as it begins to slow and deepen.

So let's begin to inhale for a count of 4,

3,

Exhale extending 5,

Letting the breath guide you gently now into stillness.

And let's let go of any ideas of how this should feel and letting go of any pressure to do anything right.

Tonight we simply practice being and if your thoughts wander,

It's okay.

Gently return to the breath,

Letting each inhale invite ease,

Letting each exhale release tension,

Allowing any sounds around you to fade into the background.

There's no need to label them or follow them.

Let your awareness draw inward like a tide returning to the sea.

And now imagine a soft luminous light shining above you.

It could be the moon,

A lantern,

Or simply a warm glow,

However you wish to visualize it.

This light is steady and calm.

It reveals,

It soothes,

And it invites clarity.

So breathing in its warmth,

Breathing out all that no longer needs to be carried.

And now imagine a pond is nearby.

Its surface is still and reflective.

Looking in,

You can see yourself clearly,

Your wholeness,

Your beauty,

Your truth.

And then a breeze stirs the water.

The reflection scatters,

No longer perfect,

But still present.

This is life.

We shift,

We change,

We ripple,

And still the light remains.

In life,

There are parts of ourselves we have hidden,

Sometimes out of fear,

Sometimes out of conditioning.

We tuck pieces away,

Pieces that may have once been misunderstood or dismissed or made to feel unwelcome.

These are our shadows.

Not flaws,

Not mistakes,

Just unacknowledged parts of who we are.

Breathe in courage,

Exhale resistance.

Now I invite you to bring to mind a person who challenges you,

Someone whose energy or behavior unsettles you.

And notice the qualities they bring up in you,

Control,

Arrogance,

Indifference.

Just observe,

Not the person,

But the energy.

Now try something brave.

Whisper gently to yourself,

I am.

I am controlling.

I am arrogant.

I am indifferent.

And these words may feel strange,

Even uncomfortable,

But remember,

To be human is to hold the capacity for all things.

And by recognizing this,

We loosen the grip of resistance and create space for balance.

So now bring to mind someone you admire,

Someone whose energy inspires you,

Warms you,

Stirs a sense of longing or awe.

And what are their qualities?

Grace,

Strength,

Kindness,

Confidence.

So once again,

Whisper gently,

I am strong.

I am kind.

I am capable.

Let the truth of these words settle within you,

Like a warm glow in the chest,

Spreading softly throughout your being.

And now we turn to gratitude.

Gratitude for the breath.

Gratitude for the courage to turn inward.

Gratitude for all you've learned and all that is yet to be discovered.

Feel this gratitude in your body.

Where do you feel?

Where do you notice it?

Does it have a texture?

A warmth?

A color?

And as your breath flows slowly and deeply,

Let this sensation of gratitude expand.

And let it soften you.

Let it hold you exactly as you are.

So we're going to begin to return now.

Gently bring your awareness back to your breath.

Feel where your body touches the ground.

Notice the space around you.

The quiet.

The support.

And you may wish to stretch or even place your hands over your heart.

Feel into your wholeness.

Your light.

Your shadow.

All of it welcome.

All of it yours.

And when you're ready,

Gently open your eyes.

Welcome back.

Thank you for meditating with me tonight.

May the insights you've gathered stay with you.

And may you walk gently with yourself in the days ahead.

Many blessings.
