We are all looking for our key,
And although we look for it in different places,
The key ultimately comes down to reconnecting with our essence,
To the recovery of a compassionate and detached attitude,
To the feeling of acceptance and belonging,
To a state of calm and plenitude.
But normally,
We look for keys that do not lead us to cover our original need,
So we move forward looking for substitutes.
We want to satisfy that deep desire through meals,
Exciting activities,
Trips,
Material acquisitions,
Flattery,
Power,
Sex,
Series,
Reading,
Knowledge,
Recognition on social networks,
Intoxicants,
Etc,
Etc.
And although many of these satisfactions help us feel better,
Even to tune in to that desired state,
They are not the solution themselves.
They cannot replace a stable state of calm and plenitude,
A state of spiritual self-sufficiency.
Therefore,
We are always enslaved trying to find a definitive satisfaction,
A master key,
Where we cannot.
Nothing to do,
Nowhere to go.
This masterful phrase summarizes very well the state where it is no longer necessary to try to feed ourselves with substitutes,
The state where we have already the key well located,
And our sacred mechanism has been activated,
Giving us access to the invaluable treasures to which it leads.
These words remind me of the third session of Ingredients for Awakening,
From noisy happiness to subtle joy.
Returning to our analysis,
It turns out that all these satisfactions are met exclusively through external stimulation,
And it seems to be the most common and direct way.
In fact,
It is the way in which we satisfy our most basic physiological needs,
Such as food and shelter.
Nevertheless,
It is convenient to keep in mind that once this fundamental and original need is satisfied,
It can overshadow any physiological need.
However,
The master key we seek,
Our connection with divinity,
With the sacred,
Is found where at first it seems most difficult to find,
Or at least it goes unnoticed,
Where we do not imagine,
Within us.
It is our internal technology which we need to activate,
To settle down in a calm and open attitude.
This way,
It doesn't matter what you are doing,
You can always be fully nourished,
Embodying appeasement and a spacious attitude.
In the other way,
Unfortunately,
The usual one,
We go like a donkey with a carrot dangling in front,
Always chasing something that we can't really grasp.
Although,
Hopefully,
You are already looking for your keys within yourself,
Through contemplation,
Being in touch with your sensations,
That would be great.
But perhaps you still put too much emphasis on finding it through other types of more ephemeral and in some ways harmful satisfactions,
Some that can make you angry,
Sad or frustrated when they are no longer available or do not occur as you expect.
In those cases,
Remember,
You are looking for the key under the lamppost.
