Welcome to this Yoga Nidra.

My name is Lucy McCarthy.

This practice is a portal into your true potency,

Inviting a reclamation of your power and sovereignty.

To prepare for the practice,

Come to lie on your back,

On the floor,

Supporting the backs of the knees with either a bolster or a few cushions,

A light eye covering for the eyes,

A thin pillow for underneath the back of the head,

And a blanket to cover you.

Take your time to set yourself up with precision,

In order to allow for maximal comfort and ease,

So that the body can relax and let go deeply.

Place the body symmetrically,

With the arms gently out to the sides,

Palms facing up.

Make any final adjustments to your posture,

So that you can melt your body into stillness for the duration of the practice.

The more soft and relaxed the body,

The deeper a journey we can go upon.

Lay down your social mask,

Take off any armoring,

Allow yourself to be held by the deep support of the earth beneath you.

Know that there is power in simply allowing yourself to be,

Trusting in your innate potency.

If you haven't already,

Gently close the eyes,

The eyelids like heavy curtains lowering,

Eyes softening and melting in towards the back of the skull.

Become aware of the dance of light and dark behind the closed eyes.

In this ancient practice of sacred yogic sleep known as yoga nidra,

We temporarily close our eyes on the external world,

So that we can ignite our inner vision.

This inner vision allows us to go on a quest,

Deep within,

To uncover all that we have been seeking,

All that we have been longing for,

To reclaim our power and potency.

The practice of yoga nidra begins now.

Make an internal commitment now to stay awake and aware for the duration of the practice.

Now,

Guide your awareness to your solar plexus,

The point just below the base of the ribs in front of the body.

Invite your natural breath and focused awareness to pool at the solar plexus,

And allow the breath to soften and melt away any tension here.

Who do you want to be?

How would you like to act?

What is it that you most sincerely long for in this life?

Whatever wisdom rises up from within,

Use this as the foundation for creating what we refer to in this practice as your sankalpa.

This is a statement of our becoming,

A profound ancient coding that invites us to rise up into our highest.

We state our sankalpa in the present tense and with positive language,

Starting with the words I am,

Followed by whichever word or words best express your most heartfelt inner longing.

For example,

I am empowered.

I am worthy.

Allow yours to reveal itself to you now.

Once you have it,

State it three times silently within,

With conviction,

Passion and confidence.

Now trust that you have strongly sent this message out into the universe to be co-created into manifestation.

We will now move through a rotation of consciousness within the physical body.

Each body part named,

Take your awareness to it and sense and observe what you can feel there.

Then at each named place,

Silently chant the sacred mantra Ram,

While envisaging a single flame.

We will move through 61 sacred points in the body,

Invoking and awakening power and potency within,

Through our awareness,

The mantra Ram and the envisioning of a flame.

Start by guiding your awareness to the brow center,

The point between the two eyebrows,

And first notice any sensations you observe there.

Then silently place the sacred sound of the mantra Ram at the brow center as you envision a small flame of fire.

Now ride the awareness into the throat center,

See the flame,

Chant Ram,

Right shoulder,

Right elbow,

Right wrist joint,

Tip of the right thumb,

Tip of the right index finger,

Tip of the right middle finger,

Tip of the right ring finger,

Tip of the right baby finger.

Keep moving through the body,

Each body part named,

Feel,

Chant the sacred sound of Ram and envision a flame of fire.

Center of the right wrist,

Center of the right elbow,

Center of the right shoulder,

Center of the throat,

Brow center,

Feel the whole body,

The whole body,

The whole body felt,

Now.

Alit with the sacred mantra Ram each of those 61 sacred points bright with the flame of transformation and power.

Now reach your awareness onto your natural breath.

Simply observe yourself being breathed.

The effortless,

Spontaneous rising and falling of the breath.

The inhalation victoriously rising and expansive.

The exhalation cleansing and clearing.

Witness the breath.

It's majesty animating you from the inside out.

Now as you continue to observe the natural breath,

As you inhale,

Internally chant the mantra So.

As you exhale,

Internally chant the mantra Hum.

Inhale So.

Exhale Hum.

This ancient,

Potent mantra So Hum meaning I am.

Imprinting into us a powerful remembrance of our true identity.

More vast,

Potent and awesome than we could ever imagine.

Inhale So.

Exhale Hum.

Now let the mantra fall away and begin to sense and feel into the powerful energy behind or beneath the breath.

This vital life force energy that animates all living things,

Including this body.

A gently pulsating energetic circuitry that moves both within and beyond the physical boundaries of the body.

Sense your whole energetic body.

Now fold your awareness into the midpoint between the two eyebrows and slightly backwards in towards the midbrain.

A point known as Chid Akash.

A powerful portal that transcends all time and space.

The seat of unlimited potentiality and infinite possibilities.

We will tether ourselves back into this point as we play with pairs of opposites.

Each sensation or emotion stated is to be awakened as fully as possible in the here and now whilst remaining utterly relaxed and at ease.

Now awaken the sensation of being indecisive.

What does indecisiveness feel like?

When you have no sense of certainty about what to do next of how to act or which decision to make fill your whole being with the quality of indecision.

Now let that melt away.

And now bring forth the feeling of being decisive.

What does decisiveness feel like?

To be filled with clarity.

A surety in who and what you are.

Fill yourself with the state of being decisive.

Let it fill you up.

Now gently surrender that back into the ether.

And tether your awareness back to the point between the brows.

Back into the midbrain.

Now what does it feel like to be impotent?

How does impotency feel?

Where does it show up in your body?

To feel helpless,

Lost and alone.

Powerless to take action.

Notice any storylines,

Memories or images that rise up along with this feeling of impotency.

Stay with the pure feeling itself.

Now release that fully.

And bring forth the feeling of potency.

What does being potent feel like?

To feel vital,

Strong,

Confident and powerful.

Immerse your whole being in the feeling of potency.

Now even let that go too.

And once more,

Return your awareness to the point in the midbrain.

This powerhouse of unity beyond all seeming division.

We will now go on an inner vision quest in search of our most sovereign self.

Take your awareness back to the solar plexus.

And imagine a radiant golden ball of fire here.

Burning brightly,

Filling you with an inner sense of potency and power.

As you continue to see,

Visualize and imagine this golden ball of fire at the solar plexus.

Begin to sense its alchemy.

Its fierce heat burning up any impurities within.

Impurities of old storylines and narratives of your struggles with self-worth and inner validation.

Hotter and hotter,

This burning golden orb cleanses and banishes any feelings of inadequacy,

Weakness,

Anything which pulls you out of your power and center.

Begin to feel the alchemy of this golden orb filling your entire inner body,

Leaving no obstacle uncleansed.

The further this heat and alchemy stretches through the inner body,

The more and more vital and empowered you begin to feel.

Feel your energy body begin to grow bigger and bigger,

Taller and taller,

Until you have the sensation of your energy body being that of a giant rising up to the stars.

A fire burning within you with potency,

Confidence and self-sovereignty.

Feel yourself vast and regal,

Standing in your power,

Filled with a sense of clarity and courage.

Courage to show up in the world as a unique expression of divinity that you are.

Courage to be you,

To act,

To create,

To self- govern.

Now open yourself into sacred silence,

Pristine presence,

Basking in your own glory.

It is not arrogant to know your own true self-worth.

It is simply you rising into your highest.

Fulfilling your potential,

Allowing yourself to be the radiant,

Empowered being that you truly are.

Bask in this.

Now from this sweet self-emancipated space,

Call back in your sankalpa,

The sacred I AM statement.

Let it fill this vastness,

Chiming out through the entire universe with truth and instant manifestation.

State it three times internally in the fertile soil of your sovereign self.

Now let that integrate.

And once more,

Gently begin to reintegrate your awareness back into your physical body,

Feeling the density of your bones,

Heavily rooted in towards the earth.

Sense any sounds in the distance meeting your ears.

And then sense any sounds in your close environment.

Now glide your awareness onto the natural cadence of your breath.

Perhaps deepening it ever so slightly as a way of re-emerging into the here and now.

The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.

Slowly begin to express movement through the fingers and toes.

Perhaps the ankles and wrists too.

Then one by one,

Hug your knees up into your chest before rolling onto one side and resting here a moment in this seed-like position.

Pause here.

Listen inwards.

Notice how you feel.

The quality of your mind.

Then slowly press yourself up to a comfortable,

Tall seat.

Bringing the hands together in prayer in front of the heart.

If you are willing and committed to embodying your true potency and power from this moment forwards,

Sit up a little taller.

Thank yourself for showing up for this practice.

Thank yourself for having the willingness to stand in your power.

Trust in this.

Allow yourself to be all that you are.

Hari Om Tat Sat.

Hari Om Tat Sat.

Hari Om Tat Sat.

As above,

So below.

All is one.

Many blessings.
