So,
Just getting yourselves lovely and comfy,
Lovely and cosy.
Would you settle yourselves now?
Just in these opening moments of finding comfort,
Just inviting in a real luxuriousness.
So if there's an extra cushion within reach or a comfier spot that you could be in,
May I heartily invite you just to indulge yourself in a really lovely,
Lovely way.
That's good.
And in these first moments,
Arriving,
Just allowing the weight of the whole of you melt down into the earth.
All of the weight of responsibility,
Carrying that round the whole of the day.
Now we're at the point where we no longer need to,
We can just rest and arrive.
Be reassured that there is absolutely nothing that you need to do.
Find comfort and enjoy yourself.
And so inviting the lovely curiosity of the attention just to go for a little wander around the body.
Noticing if there's anywhere that needs a little bit more relaxing.
Noticing if there's anywhere that perhaps is finding it hard to let go.
Becoming aware of the lovely,
Easy flow of the breath.
Noticing which parts of the body move with the breath as it flows in,
As it flows out.
And so into this place of rest,
Repose of rejuvenation and restoration.
Just inviting all of you to arrive,
To melt and feel utterly supported.
Key aspect of earth energy is that of nourishment and support.
And so allowing the roots,
The trunk,
The branches,
The crown of you to really feel utterly held,
Utterly supported,
Utterly nurtured.
Just very lightly invite our awareness around the body.
And so out on my walks,
The leaves are unfurling here.
The blossom trees are in full soft pom-pom of pink and white delight.
I've got yellow and purple and stripy tulips waxily blooming in my garden.
And birdsong laces every waking moment.
And so inviting the essence of spring to flow very comfortably around the body without any bother.
Just a little light awareness,
Almost as light as a seed or a tiny star or a petal from a blossom flower.
Just the lighting in the eyebrow center.
And then one in between the collarbones.
One on the right shoulder,
At the elbow,
On the right arm and on the wrist.
Then imagining a whole handful,
A palmful of beautiful soft light scented blossom petals in that right palm.
So that the whole of the hand feels weighted luxuriously into the earth.
Little petals at the tip of the thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger and little finger.
Bringing the awareness back to the wrist,
Elbow and shoulder.
Back over to a soft space in between the collarbones where there's little petals,
Seeds placed.
And then over to the left shoulder.
Blossom petal there in the crook of the left elbow,
On the wrist.
And the sumptuous handful of petals waiting down that left palm.
They're so light and so soft and so beautiful and yet just that little bit of weight invites the whole of that left hand and arm to feel very,
Very relaxed.
Tiny petal at the tip of the left thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger and little finger.
Bringing the awareness back to the wrist,
Elbow,
Shoulder.
Soft space in between the collarbones.
Bringing the awareness down to the chest and into the very centre,
A very light petal.
Placing a petal at the tip of the right breast,
Coming back to the petal in the centre of the chest at the heart centre and then placing a petal at the tip of the left breast.
Coming back to the petal at the heart.
The awareness flowing softly and lightly down the body to the navel,
Placing a petal there.
And then down again to the pelvis and in the centre of the pelvis,
Placing another light petal.
Becoming aware of the right hip,
Petals in turn at the hip,
The knee and the ankle on that right side.
And then imagining the whole of the right foot just covered in a soft feathery billowy mound of petals.
Petals at the tip of the big toe,
The second toe,
The third and the fourth and the fifth toes.
Bringing the awareness back to the ankle,
Knee and hip,
To the centre of the pelvis and then on that left side,
Placing soft fragrant petals in turn at the hip,
At the knee,
At the ankle.
And then imagining that left foot in a beautiful billowing mound,
Soft beautiful petals at the tip of the big toe,
Second toe,
Third,
Fourth and fifth toes.
Awareness of the whole body mapped as if the whole body is lying on a bed of petals,
Blossom,
Just inviting in the very essence of the blossom trees,
Create a soft and nourishing bed.
Bringing the awareness back up to the ankle,
Knee and hip,
To the centre of the pelvis,
Rising like the rising energy of spring coming up through the roots of the legs and then up into the trunk of the body,
The centre of the pelvis,
The navel,
The centre of the chest,
The heart,
Back up to the centre of the collarbones and then to the first petal or star or seed,
Place the eyebrow centre.
Just imagining petals around every,
Every edge of the body,
The crown of the head,
The shoulders,
As if you're relying on the most fragrant,
Soft,
Most beautiful,
Beautiful bed.
As if in our small journey around the body,
It's an act of pilgrimage and we're celebrating the beauty of each and every one of us.
Being aware of the very edges of your rootlets,
Of your twiglets,
Of your fingers,
Of the rootlets of your toes,
Of the eyelashes,
Of the crown of the head,
The tip of the nose,
The back.
Becoming aware of the volume of the whole of the body,
All of the outer edges of the body.
And then focusing in on a tiny little point in the centre of the chest,
Like a seed in the centre of the heart.
As if we can see it clearly with our mind's eye,
Glowing brightly and expanding outwards into the very edges,
The volume of the whole of you.
And it may well be that energetically that volume is bigger and brighter than the limits of the body.
Maybe you would like to imagine a certain colour or hues or vibrancy.
And then focusing once again on that tiny,
Tiny point,
As small as a seed in the centre of the heart.
And then inviting both in,
Awareness of the very edges,
Beyond the very edges,
As if the whole body,
The whole energy of you is gently expansive,
Voluminous.
And at the same time being aware of that very bright seed of focus and energy in the middle of the heart.
And then letting that go,
Just as you can imagine or even remember the soft,
Watery tinkle of birdsong to bathe our senses.
Tuning in to the ebb and flow of the breath as if the breath itself were birdsong,
Lightly floating and playing through all of the branches,
Soft trim and melody.
And as we start to set our course for home,
In this in-between space,
Which is neither branch nor root nor trunk,
Neither sap word or heart word or bark,
In this magical place that is yoga-mitra,
If you wish,
You can offer yourself something to bring back,
Gift,
Something to truly nourish you.
And so it may be something to anchor yourself,
An affirmation,
Statement of intention,
Something positive and supportive,
Or it could simply be something else.
And then very carefully,
Very slowly,
Starting to move fingers,
Twiglets and toes,
Rootlets,
Starting to move through the hands,
Twigs,
The feet,
The roots into the whole body,
The whole of the tree,
Stretching from the very tips of the twigs,
The very tips of the roots,
Stretching the whole body out,
Making the tree beautifully long and supple,
Enjoying the sap word qualities in the body.
And then hugging the knees and making yourself dense and as compact as a nut,
Enjoying the heart word qualities of the body,
Rocking from side to side and gently arriving back at the shore by rolling onto the comfiest side and just resting there.
And so we're going to finish,
Instead of the three arms,
We're going to finish with some palming.
So you're welcome to do it lying down or just come up to a comfortable seated position,
But palming is where you just rub into the palms of the hands,
Draw the fingers away,
So you can really feel the heat building in the hearts of the hands.
You want to do it enough that when you place them over your eyes,
It feels nourishing.
So over your clotheslets,
You just place the palms and if you're seated,
You can rest the weight of the head into the hands.
And from here,
I'd like you to imagine that you're looking from the back of the head,
The eyes thoroughly relaxed and let go.
So from this place of utter relaxation,
This practice of yoga nidra is now over and complete.
Thank you very much for listening.
