The start of a new year often brings the pressure to set resolutions or goals. But, many of us set goals shaped on external voices rather than our own inner truths. This talk serves as an invitation to pause before pursuing your resolutions. Instead, take a moment to reconnect with your inner voice; the steady part of you that knows what you genuinely need and want in this season of your life. This journey is about recalibrating toward what feels genuine and aligned. To support your introspection, there will be a segment featuring guided journaling prompts.

So welcome.

My name is Nandi.

And if you've found your way here,

More than likely you've been feeling that there's this unlived life within you,

A part of you that never quite got an opportunity to be expressed.

Maybe it's something that's been calling to you for a while and for whatever reason you pushed it to the back burner.

So if this sounds like you,

You are in the right place because I am passionate about helping professionals just like you to slow down,

To truly listen to that inner calling,

And guide you in sharing your creative gifts that you were meant to share with the world.

And so for many of us,

The new year feels like a reset button.

And around this time,

We tend to harness that energy to set new resolutions or goals,

Or make these big,

Bold declarations that this year I will finally,

And I don't know,

You fill in the blanks,

Whether that's shed those extra pounds,

Or become more disciplined,

Or find the love of your life,

Or finally make that six-figure income you've always wanted.

But when we set these intentions,

We usually mean well,

But often they're coming from this deeper belief that something is wrong with us,

And we need to do something to fix it so that way we can feel good about ourselves inside.

And what we don't see is that many of these beliefs are shaped by external voices,

Whether it's our parents,

Our friends,

Society,

And yes,

Even our favorite influencers.

And so while many of these voices have helped us to achieve some level of success,

They often come with a cost,

An immense sidelining your inner voice,

That quiet voice within us that nudges us to show up more fully as our authentic self,

To pursue our dreams,

Our desires,

And share our gifts with the world.

So many of us were discouraged from listening to that voice because it could mean losing a sense of belonging or not being accepted or fitting in,

But I'm here to remind you that your inner voice is the voice of your soul.

It is your inner compass guiding you towards a life that doesn't just look good on the outside,

But it actually feels good on the inside.

It points you towards your growth,

A deeper sense of meaning,

And a feeling of wholeness and completion without the need to perform or continuously prove yourself.

So trust me when I say it will never lead you astray.

So here's a question for you.

Are your goals or resolutions rooted in what your inner voice is asking of you,

Or are they rooted in other people's expectations or ideals of who you should be?

And if you realize that you've been operating from this external pressure rather than your inner truth,

That's okay.

So when I say recalibrate,

I'm not talking about fixing yourself or becoming someone new.

I'm talking about tuning back into the essence of who you are before the world told you who you should be.

To make this a little bit more concrete,

Recalibration is about listening to your inner voice and recognizing what it's asking you to create or contribute or share in this world.

And your responsibility,

Your sole responsibility is to begin aligning your actions with that calling.

And so if you're like many people,

Tuning into your inner voice can be very challenging,

Especially seeing that everyone and everything is pulling for your attention.

So I want you to see this as developing a muscle.

So the more you practice listening or tuning into your inner voice,

The more you'll be able to hear it.

So if you're open to it,

I'd love to guide you through a short practice right now.

So before we begin,

Take a moment to get comfortable.

You might wanna grab a journal and a pen and maybe even a blanket or a warm beverage.

Feel free to pause this and get settled.

And when you're ready,

Let's begin by slowing down together.

And if it feels comfortable,

Gently close your eyes and take a slow breath in through your nose and a soft breath out.

Ah.

Again,

Breathing in slowly and exhaling fully.

And allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm.

And imagine your breath slowly flowing in and out through your heart.

And as you inhale,

Allow your heart space to gently expand.

And as you exhale,

Allow the muscles around your heart to soften.

And as you continue to breathe here,

I invite you to bring to mind something simple that brings a sense of joy or warmth or ease.

It could be a person you love,

A place you enjoy,

A moment of kindness,

Or even a small win from your day.

And there's no need to force anything.

Just allow a sense of appreciation to be present.

When we breathe through the heart and invite a gentle feeling of joy and warmth,

We naturally move out of the survival mode and into a state of coherence where our mind and body are in alignment.

And so from this place,

It becomes easier to hear our inner voice.

So as you stay connected to your heart,

Ask yourself,

What is quietly calling to me right now?

What is quietly calling to me right now?

Another way to think about this is what do you really want to pursue in this season of your life?

Not what you should do,

But what your inner voice is asking you to do.

And so there's no need to overthink this.

Just allow your first response to be enough.

And take one slow breath in.

And as you exhale,

Gently open your eyes.

So take about three minutes to journal on this first question.

What is quietly calling to me right now?

And now let's begin to wrap up your response.

Our second reflection question is,

What do I need to let go of in order to truly honor my inner voice?

What do I need to let go of in order to truly honor my inner voice?

This might be a need to let go of validation from others,

Or perfectionism,

Or overthinking.

Or maybe this belief that you need to feel ready before you can move forward.

Take about three minutes to journal your response.

Take a moment to begin to wrap up your response.

And now for our final prompt,

What is one small grounded step I can take to acknowledge what my inner voice is asking me?

What is one small grounded step I can take to acknowledge what my inner voice is asking of me?

And I will encourage you to make this step small,

But doable,

And allow it to,

Again,

Align with your inner voice.

Take about three minutes to journal your response.

Beautiful,

Great job.

Take a moment to acknowledge yourself for showing up,

For listening,

For creating a space for yourself.

For creating space to connect inward.

And again,

This kind of listening isn't a one-time practice.

It is a practice we return to again and again.

So it's my hope that you'll continue to carve out time to listen to your inner voice.

And if you feel a call,

I'd love to hear what came up for you.

You're more than welcome to share your reflections in the comments below.

And thank you for taking this time to recalibrate to the real you.
