The Illumination Game Ep. 4: The Breath
As simplistic and natural as the breath may seem, it is truly your most important built in tool. Your breath is the gift that keeps on giving and continues to expand and deepen you. Your breath is your bridge into your soul, your divine light embodiment and growth.

All of your emotions are aware As it's building magic in the air Not unless your feelings cut you down Open up your eyes and look around It's just an illusion Cause we are An illusion To be my own It's just an illusion To be my own It's just an illusion Hello,
Hello,
Hello and welcome to the Illumination Game.
I was rocking out over here.
I didn't want to turn the music off.
I love that song.
It's funny when I hear this song it just gets me moving right away.
Right away.
But so here we are.
Hello and welcome to episode number 37.
And today's topic is the breath.
And it came to me.
I was like,
Okay,
I know I've been talking about the breath.
I know I'm encouraging the breath but I haven't done an episode on the breath.
And I looked through the episodes.
I was like,
Wow,
I can't believe I haven't really addressed the breath in full.
But here we are making up for it now.
Everything happens in its own timing.
And anybody who knows me,
Anybody who's listened to this podcast,
You know how much I work with the breath and how strongly I promote the use of the breath and how important it is.
And so yet there is so much to be said about the breath.
And so for this entire episode,
For this entire time that you are listening to this podcast,
I challenge you to stay in your breath and go ahead and find your breath.
And however you are comfortable,
Right?
This is not about forcing anything.
This is not about having to follow a certain formula.
Right now,
I just want you to settle into your breath and find your breath and connect with your breath.
And simply just practice staying with it.
And if you get distracted,
If your thoughts manage to take your attention away from your breath,
Then simply come back to it.
Just keep coming back to it and make your breath comfortable.
Deepen it slightly.
Slow it down.
Slow down your breath.
Deepen it to your comfort.
So that on the inhale as well as on the exhale,
You're having about the same length of time that it takes for this inhale to complete and for the exhale to complete.
And so this is really so that you understand and you learn to control your breath.
And so we're going to leave it at this for the moment.
But again,
Stay with your breath as you are listening.
I would like for you to hold your main focus,
Your main attention,
Your main commitment on to your breath.
You're in charge.
You're in control of your breath.
You are deepening and slowing it on the inhale as well as on the exhale.
And because the breath is the beginning of life,
And it is the end of life.
We start life with an inhale.
This is when the soul fully anchors into the body,
When the baby takes its first breath outside of the mother's body.
And this is also when we depart,
When the soul departs the body,
When we take our last exhale.
That's when the soul just shifts and transitions home.
And besides the conscious breath and you being aware of your breath and learning to use your breath,
Birth is very much an automatic process driven by the brain stream,
The part of your brain controlling such life sustaining functions as heartbeat or sleeping patterns,
Right?
So your breath is a very simple side effect that your body takes care of for you naturally and automatically.
And maybe because it is this simple process that your body takes care of for you that we think that,
Oh,
It's not priority or that's not what I should focus on.
Right?
Maybe it's this understanding that,
Okay,
This is already taken care of for me by my body.
That humans feel it is not necessary to tend to the breath,
To care about the breath,
To actually choose the breath themselves.
Right?
It's always the simple things,
The simple things that we forget about.
When in truth,
Spirituality is all about simplicity.
When it gets too complicated,
Then you know there's something else at play.
But it's always coming back to the simplicity.
It's always come back to the foundation,
To the simple things and your breath,
The conscious breath is so much more than just a natural involuntary process taken care of by your body.
You know,
Your breath is so vastly,
Vastly,
Vastly important and science surprisingly enough has only very recently been getting up to speed.
When in truth,
The science of breathing stands on ancient foundations,
Ancient,
The science of breath truly goes back to our ancestors,
To the high priestesses and the high priests and the goddesses and gods and the witches and the warlocks and everybody working with energy and working with spirit and working with the divine and working with the light.
They've all known the breath and used the breath and taught the breath to their students,
To their disciples.
The breath has been,
I almost want to call it a hidden secret,
Not so hidden at all,
But highly underestimated.
And so surprisingly,
It was only very recently,
Just about two years ago,
That modern science has really understood and is still not all the way into it yet.
But modern science is now really seeing and understanding that there is something called a peacemaker,
A breathing peacemaker,
What that's what they've labeled it in science,
That is in your brain and so different breath control actually opens up different parts of your brain,
Different kind of breath control and the person using their breath in different ways and in different rhythms,
Stimulates and connects different parts of the brain.
And so this is a really fascinating thing because medicine has been,
You know,
Really promoting the use of the breath and advertising meditation,
Right?
But now science is really beginning to back it all up.
And so with these experiments,
They've been observing the neural circuit in the brain stem,
And that this really plays a key role in breathing and brain control connection.
And so what they have called and labeled the breathing peacemaker can be adjusted by altering the breathing rhythm.
So when the breath is slowed and controlled by the individual,
It decreases the activity in the circuit.
But when the breath is erratic and fast and unconscious and uncontrolled,
Then that increases the activity in that circuit.
And so what they realized is that by controlling the breath and slowing it down,
The person was now in charge of themselves and they were now able to control their emotional experience and they were now able to consciously choose the correct thinking or to not think at all.
And so of course,
This has tremendous physical beneficial side effects,
Right?
So we're now understanding that the controlled breath lowers blood pressure,
For example,
Right?
And we now also see and learn very clearly that it lowers the stress levels and the cortisol levels.
And it also enhances recall and ability to access memory.
And as basic of a function as the breath could be perceived as,
And that's probably why it's been ignored for so long,
Because it's basic.
That is how powerful and how important and I want to say your greatest built in tool that you can possess and own and claim and really become aware of.
And so from here,
I want to just share a little tidbit about what science has also been realizing is that humans have kind of gone into the wrong direction with their evolution in terms of it's all been the intellectual evolution,
Right?
It's all been the thinking,
The scientific believing what you can see and what you can touch,
Evolution.
And not to say that it was wrong because everything happens in its own divine timing and everything is perfect in its timing.
And so yes,
Of course,
We have advanced greatly in those areas of life.
But it's costing us,
It's costing us greatly.
And it is also a part of this process of awakening of this earth evolving and shifting in consciousness into this beautiful transformation,
Right?
Into heaven on earth.
And so what they're showing is,
Is that the attention span,
The average attention span used to be 12 seconds and it's dropped.
It's lowered to eight seconds.
So the average human being can only hold their attention onto something for about eight seconds.
And that's not good people.
That's not a positive thing.
So I'm asking you right now,
Have you stopped breathing?
Are you still aware of your breath?
Are you still consciously controlling your breath?
Is it still slow?
Is it still deep and conscious?
If it isn't,
Just come back to it.
Just keep coming back to it because that's another wonderful thing that the breath will help you with.
It will strengthen your ability to focus and hold your focus and stay connected and committed to what it is that you're focusing on.
And I think that this is,
This is a very important thing for all of us to come back to.
And I strongly,
Strongly encourage you to find this beautiful,
Beautiful breath of yours and this tool of yours and to work as hard as you can to reconnect with it and to use it.
Even though it's already a natural process that the body does for you.
If you leave it at that,
You're just going to keep skating on the surface of things,
Skating on the surface of life,
Right?
So many people hold their breath and I'm speaking especially to the sensitive ones,
Right?
Because most people finding me are very deeply,
Deeply feeling and deeply open and connected and sensitive,
Often empaths that come to me.
And when those sensitive beings are holding their breath,
It causes a lot of imbalance,
A lot of tightening and tension within the energy field,
Within your energy bodies and within the physical body,
Right?
And so if you are too known to hold your breath when you're feeling threatened or fearful or when you're overwhelmed or when you're working through something with other people,
Try your best.
Intend to your utmost ability to shift this and bring your awareness into it,
Right?
We're talking about this.
I'm sharing these things with you to bring awareness to you about yourself.
So if you know that you are sometimes holding your breath,
Or if you know that you sometimes forget to consciously breathe,
Go ahead and own that right now.
First off,
Just say to yourself,
Okay,
Yes,
That's what happens.
That's what I do.
That's what I tend to do.
And be okay with that.
Just make peace with it.
Acceptance.
Remember acceptance only when you can be in a place of acceptance with yourself is then the opening,
The energetic opening and shifting available for you to change,
To transform,
To grow,
To evolve more fully.
And so the most important thing here about your breath,
And I could recite studies for you,
But that's really besides the point because you can go on the internet and Google it,
Right?
Google the breath,
The importance of the breath and how it affects the emotions and how it affects the brain.
You know,
Check it out for yourself.
Do your research if you're feeling any kind of resistance toward it,
Or you need more conviction.
What I want to share with you is what I already know about the breath because I have been keen onto the breath for for a very long time.
It was really my very first teacher that shared with me about the breath and she was like,
Just hold on to your breath,
Whatever,
Whatever happens wherever you are,
Hold on to your breath,
Remember your breath,
Use your breath.
And she was right because it really continues to deepen you into yourself.
And that's the truth of your breath.
There are levels to you and layers to you because remember you're a spiral.
And so the more you use your breath and the more you work with your breath,
The deeper you go through the layers down the spiral inward into yourself,
Into your alignment,
Into your center.
And so the breath work that is out there is really amazing,
Right?
So there are a lot of breath work teachers or practitioners that assist healing greatly,
Right?
So there's a lot of trauma release that happens through breath work.
And there is a lot of emotional clearing that happens through the breath work.
And of course,
It's through the yoga practice that we connect into the breath because that's really what they say,
Right?
It doesn't matter,
You could be sitting in child's pose for the entire yoga class,
As long as you're breathing,
You're already being successful.
And so they're also encouraging the student to breathe through the challenging moments in a pose when a pose is seemingly challenging to just keep breathing,
Focus on your breath,
Not the resistance,
Not the pain,
But focus on the breath,
Right?
And this is all the correlation when we look at meditation.
When we look at meditation,
What is really the goal of meditation?
The goal of meditation is to strengthen the muscle,
The ability to not engage anything,
Not the thoughts,
Not physical sensation,
Not any emotion arising.
It's the ability to just be,
Be in your connection with yourself in your center,
In your clarity.
And as thoughts come and go,
Or sensations come and go or emotions come and go.
It is the practice to stay connected and committed to the breath in order to create further opening,
Opening into your soul,
The higher parts of your soul,
The wisdom of your soul,
The guidance of your soul,
The inspiration of your soul,
Right?
So,
So many practices,
As you can see in so many wonderful modalities that are encouraging the use of the breath.
But I'm here to tell you that it's not just up to the meditation time or the yoga time or the breath workshop or the session with somebody that you integrate the breath into that time.
No,
I'm here to tell you that you ought to be focusing onto your breath yourself.
All the time,
As much as possible,
With the intention of getting to the place where your breath is your connection with yourself,
No matter where you are,
No matter what you're doing,
No matter who you're with,
It doesn't even matter.
You are always using your breath and you're always coming back into your breath because your breath connects you into your feeling guidance into your intuition into your knowing your breath helps you.
Sort through energy sensory,
Feeling sensory of what you're picking up on from your surroundings or another person,
Or even further out into an event or upcoming situation.
Your breath creates space within yourself and within your outer bodies,
It stimulates movement so that you can clear out your energy bodies at all times.
And your breath not only moves your energy,
But it also accesses your light.
It is through the use of your breath that you are connecting with this higher part of you,
The real self,
You,
Your essence,
Your breath is your bridge into yourself.
And of course it is also the breath,
The breath that helps with the grounding,
Right?
The breath is also of course the tool that you want to be using when you are getting triggered.
And this is where of course we've spoken about this many times that especially when you're getting triggered,
The first thing always breath,
Breath,
Breath,
Breathe through what you're feeling,
Let go of the thoughts,
Nothing good,
No good thought will ever come out of you not feeling well.
And so you dealing with what is coming up within you from within you first is always your responsibility and the breath assists it,
Right?
Your breath is your assistance in processing through yourself and understanding yourself and feeling yourself and hearing yourself and knowing yourself and owning yourself on so many levels on all levels.
Really.
And there are incredible beings on this planet right now,
Masters,
Powerful,
Powerful masters,
And they are controlling their breath to such an extent that they are by using that breath correctly,
They are controlling their biology,
And they are able to dissolve and disintegrate their biology and reappear.
And reappear on two separate parts of Earth at the same time simultaneously just by using the breath and by using the breath connecting into their essence self and being the light and being the creator self.
And then from there from those two simultaneous manifestations,
Then they revert back into unifying back into the one existence of their manifestation physically.
And so this is,
Of course,
Highly,
Highly,
Highly advanced work,
But just to let you know and to open up your mind to what is possible and what in who you really are.
And the breath,
My friend,
Is for you to use so that you can even begin to deepen so that you can even begin to allow and accept the power that is possible.
But even if it's just you wanting to be in charge of yourself and more composed and more in control of yourself,
As you are focusing on to your immediate personal challenges or goals.
The breath is absolutely necessary,
Absolutely important for you to connect with and form a relationship with.
And again,
It's up to you to make it important,
It's up to you to get it and to realize and to have the aha moment with this information so that you make it so important for yourself that you find the ways that work for you to integrate the breath into your life,
Into every moment of your life.
And that is a practice,
Right?
You have to remember that like anything that's new,
Learning a new language,
When you were little learning to ride a bike,
Whatever it is,
You have to practice.
And the more you practice it,
The better you get at it,
Right?
Learning a new craft.
You have to do it again and again and again and again,
Wax on,
Wax off,
Wax on,
Wax off until it is becoming easier and easier and effortless.
And that's when it becomes a part of your conditioning.
And that is when it's a part of your norm.
See,
I have made the breath for myself so important.
I was obsessed with it.
When I understood the importance of my breath when my first teacher first had me realize the importance of it.
And it wasn't even until I had practiced it for a while that I really got it.
And then on deeper levels and on deeper levels and on deeper levels still like in the beginning,
I really just took her word for it.
And I was like,
Okay,
So she says the breath is important and I've already recognized for myself that it does feel good and it does work in certain situations.
Okay,
So I'm just going to do it.
I'm going to commit to it and when I do it,
I'm going to make it important.
And that's what I did.
And I would write it on my hand and I had sticker notes all over my apartment.
And then I realized after a few days,
I would not see the sticker notes anymore.
And then I realized,
Oh,
That's because I got,
I've gotten used to them.
And the subconscious just begins to overlook.
That's why when people say,
Oh,
I'm just going to wear this bracelet or this ring is going to remind me of my breath.
Well,
You have to change it up every two,
Three days.
You have to change it up and you have to really be proactive with it in order to integrate this into yourself as a new conditioning.
And I want to share with you how much I am getting out of my breath and I've really taken this on fully.
And so my breath is with me all the time.
I have really owned my breath and I have earned this awareness and relationship with my breath.
And so it doesn't matter who I'm with,
Where I'm at the situation I'm going through.
And for me,
It's the opposite.
Now I am so aware of my breath all the time that immediately when,
When I'm not consciously breathing,
I notice it.
I'm like,
Well,
Hang on,
What's going on?
It's almost like an internal little,
Um,
Red light starts flashing and reminding me,
Hang on,
Hang on.
This is not the norm.
Something's going on.
And so for me,
It's already reversed itself now that I'm always breathing and it's my norm and it's my natural to be consciously in myself and connected to myself and listening from this place of my essence.
And this has benefited me greatly in all my relationships.
Um,
And especially in my work,
Because when I am with a client,
I have to be present,
Right?
I have to not only be present to them and what they're saying,
But also what they're feeling and what I'm reading from their energy,
Right?
So that is the outer that I'm present to.
And I have to be present to myself and my higher guidance and my light channeling and information that is coming through in regard to this person and what I'm to say to them and what I'm not to say to them.
It's just information for myself that I will use later on when we're actually getting into the active part of the work.
And so as you can see,
For me,
The breath is already a part of my new conditioning and the benefits of it and the way it assists me in my deepening is what I'm here to share with you because I feel that for you to hear this from me and understand that yes,
It's possible,
But it does take time.
And commitment and focus and dedication to yourself to do that.
But I'm hoping to inspire you to want to do that for yourself.
Because,
Of course,
Doing the work I do,
And living the life I live,
Me walking my own talk,
And me focusing on my deepening and the illumination of myself is present every day.
I give myself sessions.
I work on deepening,
I work on expanding myself and my light and so using the breath has not only opened my eyes and my heart and my energy and my consciousness.
But it's assisting me as I'm journeying right I'm a Viking shaman and so I journey I journey to other dimensions,
Where I work with my ancestors,
And I'm being trained by them.
And sometimes when I do my goddess bath,
When I take my goddess bath.
I blast my light through all the incarnations I ever had.
In order to heal and clear anything that's still within my soul from any other incarnation,
I've ever lived.
And so sometimes I reach so far and so wide into so many dimensions of my existence,
Which allows me to shift my vibration and increase my vibration and own and hold and carry so much more energy and so much more wisdom and so much more recall and memory.
From everything I've ever been and everything I've ever known and everything I've ever done.
And so just allow yourself to relax into all of this possibility for yourself and I hope you are breathing.
And I hope you are still feeling your breath and deepened and slowed in a beautiful flow.
And a beautiful dance of the inhale and the exhale,
The inhale and the exhale.
And so for you,
Again,
Make it important however you can find your own tools,
Right?
This is when you get to work with yourself and of course I'm going to give you some guiding points.
But in the end,
You have to find what works for you.
So yes,
I would write it on my hand and I would have sticker notes around the house.
So no matter where I turned,
I would see a sticker note looking at me saying,
Breathe,
Reminding me to breathe.
And then I would go,
Oh,
That's right.
Here's my breath.
Here's my breath.
Yay.
Okay.
And then I would breathe for a while and then I would forget again only to turn around and see another sticker note on the fridge saying breathe.
And I would be like,
Oh yes,
The breath,
The breath.
And so you have to remind yourself some people write in a calendar,
Other people program their phone to be reminded and again,
Little,
Little knickknacks on your desk or you wear a certain piece of jewelry.
But always remember,
You have to shift it up,
Change it up,
Right?
Stay proactive with it all the time.
And so this is the first step,
Right?
You can't put the cart before the horse.
You will go deeper.
You will go into expansion.
You will go into opening.
You will go into traveling or journeying or whatever will be next for your soul to open up into.
But you've got to make the breath priority first.
And this is where you have to remember to be patient and be patient with yourself to firstly not expect anything other than you.
Reclaiming yourself,
You reconnecting with yourself,
You giving so much attention to your breath.
And what does that mean?
It means that you are loving yourself.
You are loving yourself because you're not allowing the craziness of this world to take away from your attention span so that what all of a sudden,
Like everybody is just being induced with a DD.
Now,
Stand up for yourself,
Protect yourself,
Own yourself,
Fight for your power.
Nobody will do it for you.
Going to the yoga class,
Going to the breath work workshop,
Going to a practitioner for a certain kind of work or sitting down for meditation.
This is all wonderful and good.
But you have to take much more responsibility on the day to day basis.
The 24 hours that you have in your day.
Right.
You get that?
Yes.
So you have to understand that it's up to you to slow down your breath.
It's up to you to bring your attention spam back into an elongated ability into you being in control of yourself.
Don't let the screens and the dramas and the craziness of your conditioning take you away from yourself because that's what's happening.
And the most important thing is for you to hold on to yourself and you do that by holding on to your breath.
Never let go of your breath because when you're not in control of your breath and when you're not conscious of your breath,
You're out there.
In the illusion being tossed and turned by whatever experience or drama or words or choices that are occurring on the outside of you.
And then whatever occurs in reaction to the outside,
The illusion within you.
But that's not what your soul wants and that's not what is your power.
You're not a feather in the wind blown by the occurrences.
No,
You are meant to go within and you are meant to learn for yourself about yourself.
And you were meant to learn to love yourself and get to know yourself unconditionally with full acceptance.
And the only way that this can truly be is by being present to everything,
To every moment,
To every situation that you are experiencing in your life.
And how can you be present?
Because you're breathing.
I'm telling you there is nothing more important to your illumination and to your evolution and to your empowerment than your breath.
Good.
And so from here,
I just want to address a few more thoughts on breathing because as I know you all,
A whole bunch of you are going to want to now figure out which breath practice is the best.
But really,
There are about a thousand different breath practices and they are through the nose and through the mouth and activating this and activating that and this and then and then and then and I want you to take a look at all of that.
And that's fantastic.
Satisfy that thirst,
That need for information.
That's great.
But then I want you to let it all go again.
Because on the day to day basis,
I want you to just breathe.
You can sit down and do this breath practice or you can,
You know,
Look to try that out over the weekend or play with it.
Discover it.
Yes,
Yes,
Yes.
But when you are with yourself living your human earthly life experience,
Just be present to your breath.
Don't integrate any particular breath practice into the specific moment.
No,
No,
No.
It's about you slowing down your breath,
Which already has you control it,
Deepening it to your comfort on the inhale,
As well as on the exhale.
Sometimes it's going to be easier to breathe through the nose.
Sometimes it's going to be easier to breathe through the mouth.
And there are again 500 different breath practices that say through the nose and the other 500 say through the mouth.
And there's a time and a place for all of these practices separately.
But when you are in your life,
The first step here is for you to connect to your breath and to integrate it into your conditioning into your norm.
The focus here is for the conscious breath,
The slowed breath,
The deep and breath to be your normal,
Your comfort zone,
So that you get to the point where you notice when you're not doing it,
You're like,
Oh,
Hang on,
What am I doing?
Hang on,
Let me get right back into myself.
Let me get right back into the connection,
The relationship of your self,
Your true self,
So that you can become much more conscious and much more present to yourself as you are relating to and with the illusion.
Because remember,
That's for you to work with.
That's the material for you to grow through and heal through and evolve through,
Right?
And so the reminders,
The commitment,
The goal,
The wanting,
The will to bring the breath into your norm and you're used to your normal,
Your comfort zone right now is number one.
And depending on how you're feeling and depending on what you're doing,
You know,
Your breath is going to fluctuate and that's okay too.
It's okay sometimes to have a little bit more of a shallow breath going or other times when you're in a much more relaxed setting to be able to deepen it and use much more time on the inhale and the exhale.
And that's okay too.
But then again,
That will change,
Right?
It's always changing depending on what's going on.
And that's okay.
As long as you are aware of your breath.
As long as you are not leaving it up to your body to breathe for you as long as you are still in charge and you are still controlling your breath,
No matter how fast,
No matter how slow.
You must get in charge of yourself.
And the only way to do it and the only way to get there is to be connected to your breath.
Yes.
Have I said it enough?
Have I drilled it in?
Good.
Happy breathing.
Fantastic.
And also quick one more time.
I've now I've said it before,
But sometimes it's easy to overhear.
See if you can always work with letting the breath be the same length of time on the inhale as well as the exhale.
If I want to give you one thing to remember,
One extra thing to work with,
No matter if your breath is quick or fast,
Or shallow or deep.
See if you can always pay attention to the breath actually being the same length of time on the inhale as well as the exhale.
That would be the one thing that you definitely want to be working with because they're both very,
Very important.
Inhale as well as the exhale,
Equally important.
And we never want to get into the habit of quick exhale,
Right?
Because the inhale was so long and so controlled that the exhale becomes a need and you know,
Just getting rid so you can get more air in.
So you're forming a pattern and you're forming a conditioning.
And the most important thing here,
Same length of time.
Inhale as well as exhale.
Good.
And so from here,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
Thank you for spending your time with me.
Thank you for your energy.
Thank you for being you.
Use your breath as I'm sending you much love and light blessings to you and yours.
Until next time.
Mwah,
Mwah,
Mwah,
Mwah,
Hugs and kisses.
Bye bye.
Sure.

Some fantastic methods for reminding me to breathe. Thank you💕
