Welcome to this meditation on inner child healing.
Some feelings and emotions may come to the surface during this process and that's completely natural so just allow them to flow without any judgement.
I encourage you to sit up for this practice.
Inhale deeply into the belly and exhale slowly as you relax and settle into this space.
Take another deep inhale and a long slow exhale.
Allow your breathing to go back to its natural pattern and just notice how your body moves as you breathe in and as you breathe out.
Notice the parts of your body that are in contact with the chair or floor.
Notice the parts of your skin that are in contact with clothing.
Notice the parts of your skin that are in contact with the air.
What are the sensations there?
Can you feel your whole body at the same time?
I invite you now to imagine in the centre of your chest at your heart space a golden sunshine.
The light radiates outwards shining brightly.
You'll see it in your chest.
Now as you breathe in this light intensifies and as you breathe out this light begins to expand with the heart at the centre.
So breathing in the light is bright.
Breathing out the light expands.
Follow your breath.
See the light.
Allow that light to expand now to encompass your whole body.
It surrounds your body like a safe cocoon.
Bring your awareness to the whole cocoon at the same time with your heart at the centre.
You are safe and protected within this light.
I invite you now very gently to bring to mind a time in your life when you were a child when things were particularly difficult.
Maybe something had just happened or maybe it was just a difficult time in general.
See this scene from your life with a young version of you in it.
And when you are ready let that young self know that you are here.
Speak to them.
And let them know that everything is okay.
Ask your young self if they would like to come and sit upon your lap.
If the answer is yes allow them to come and be within your energy field sitting upon your lap.
Maybe you want to cuddle them.
Maybe you want to stroke their hair.
Maybe you just want to hold their hand.
Whatever you feel is right is right.
Allow any emotions to come up and be felt as you stay present with your inner child.
If this feels difficult it's okay.
Just stay and breathe.
Give your inner child this comfort at this time.
Feel them that you love them unconditionally.
Just feel that.
And now tell them that you are always here for them and that they are never alone.
How does that feel to you?
Just notice.
And when you are ready tell them that this time in their life is temporary.
And again just feel that.
Take the next couple of minutes to tell your inner child anything that they need to hear right now.
Think that your younger self needs to hear.
Let them hear you.
Remember to let emotions flow freely.
If your dialogue has ended,
Just enjoy this time,
Just being.
With the young version of you.
At this point,
I invite you to give them a choice.
Ask them,
Would they like to stay where they are back in that scene where you reconnected with them?
Or would they like to come and be and stay in your heart and listen to what they would like?
If they choose to go back to the scene where you met them,
Allow them to leave your lab and go back to that place and spend the next few moments sending them your love from where you are.
If they decided they want to come and be within your heart,
See them slowly shrinking until they are small enough that they could sit in the palm of your hand.
See them sitting in your palm.
And when you are ready,
When it feels right,
Bring them into that ball of light in your heart space.
Just feel.
Wherever your inner child currently is,
They are always protected.
They are always loved.
They are never alone.
Now spend the next minute or so saying your farewell for now.
Know that you can come back and visit anytime.
As we come to the end of this meditation,
We will start coming back into the physical by deepening the breath.
Change your belly as you inhale.
Contracting the belly as you exhale.
Slowly take some small movements.
The fingers and the toes.
Maybe smiling.
Rolling the shoulders.
Maybe you want to take a stretch.
And when you feel in the full physicality of your body,
Gently opening your eyes.
