Yoga Nidra: Message From Your Intuition
by Lotte Bouws
Yoga nidra, also known as the yogic sleep, is where we enter altered states of being. We reach the unconscious, subconscious and superconscious mind. It is a space for deep healing of the physical and mental body and a powerful place to plant seeds. This yoga nidra is a journey to a message from deep within, your inner wisdom. Unwind, rest and heal.
Transcript
Welcome to this Yoga Nidra.
Before we start,
Make sure that you are completely comfortable,
Lying down on your back,
Either on a yoga mat or on your bed.
Making sure that you are completely comfortable and able to fully let go and surrender into stillness.
So making sure the body is nice and warm by covering yourself with a blanket.
Maybe also using an eye pillow.
During the practice I will ask you to state a sankalpa.
Sankalpa is an intention,
A wish or a desire.
Something you wish to manifest in your life or a state you desire.
You are planting a seed within your soul.
To repeat the sankalpa in your yoga nidra practice,
It helps you to get in touch with who you truly are and what your desires are in terms of growth and insights.
During the nidra practice we will reach a state of deep relaxation and we move through the subtler layers of the mind.
Therefore the sankalpa works through in your subconscious mind.
So state your sankalpa always positive in the present tense,
As it is already manifested,
Already there.
So feel and listen to what arises for you when I ask you to state your sankalpa and trust your intuition.
So get comfortable and see if you can adjust your posture maybe even 5% more so that you can fully fully let go.
I follow the sound of my voice.
Close your eyes.
Start arriving in the room,
In the space you're in.
Noticing which body parts are in touch with the floor,
The mat or the mattress.
Feel that you are carried by the earth,
With each exhalation allowing the body to become heavy,
To really melt into the floor,
Completely shifting from doing into being.
Then notice any sounds you're hearing around you.
Maybe you hear sound of traffic rushing by,
Sounds of people talking,
Maybe a bird is chirping,
Can be anything.
And begin to notice the sounds that you hear close by,
In the room or the yoga hall you're in.
Maybe the sound of your breath,
Sound of my voice.
Just notice any sounds.
Anything that sounds arise from stillness and dissolve back into stillness again.
Bring the attention to your body,
To your skin.
Notice the temperature.
Is it warm?
Is it cold?
Maybe on a subtle level,
Notice the air brushing your skin.
Just notice the temperature.
Now I will guide you and name body parts.
So see if you can follow my voice with your full awareness into the body part I name.
Start bringing your attention to all of your toes.
All of your toes.
Feet,
Top of the feet,
The heels.
And notice how the heels are gently pressing into the floor or the mattress.
Notice your ankles,
Your lower leg from ankle to the knees.
The calf muscle gently pressing into the floor.
The chin bone.
Just notice.
And notice your knees.
The kneecap,
The back of the knees.
Your upper leg from knees to hip joint.
Your upper leg from knees to hip joint.
Your buttocks.
And notice the weight of your buttocks on the mat.
Begin to notice your pelvic area.
The hips,
Pelvic floor.
Noticing and softening the muscles and the tissues there.
Bringing the attention to your torso,
Front and back.
At the back side of the torso begin to notice your lower back.
And now it is gently lifted off the floor.
Notice your middle back,
Upper back.
The whole spine from tailbone to neck.
Bring attention to your front torso.
Your abdominal area,
Stomach,
Chest.
The whole torso,
Front and back.
Now bring attention to your neck.
Notice how the neck is gently touching a pillow.
Maybe your neck is off the floor.
Notice how the neck is the connection,
The body and the head.
Making it one.
Bring your attention up to your head.
And notice the weight of the back of your head on the blanket,
Cushion.
Back of the head,
Top of the head,
Crown of the head and the forehead.
Allowing the forehead to soften.
Let go.
Notice your eyebrows,
Your eyeballs and how they are resting in the eye sockets.
Your eyelid protecting your eyes.
Notice the weight of your eyelid on your eyes.
Always resting deeply in the eye sockets.
Bring the attention to your ears,
Your cheeks,
Your jaw,
Your jaw.
Then your jaw.
Your nose.
Tip of the nose.
The whole nose.
Nostrils.
Upper lip.
Losing the teeth,
The tongue,
Lying in the mouth.
Bring attention to your lower lip.
Your chin.
Now notice your neck.
Moving down the shoulders.
The shoulders.
Notice how the shoulder blades on the right and left side are resting on the mat.
Moving your shoulders and your whole upper arm from shoulder to elbow.
Notice your elbow.
Your lower arm from elbow to wrist.
Noticing your wrist.
Your hands.
Your palms.
Back of the hand.
Palm of the hand.
Bring your full awareness to all of your fingers.
You are now aware of the whole body.
The whole body.
You are fully connected to your Annamayya Kosha,
Your physical body.
Your body is calm,
Relaxed and grounded.
Now we are moving deeper into this relaxation.
Bring your awareness under the skin.
At your lower arm from elbow to your fingers.
Under the skin.
At your lower arm from elbow to fingers.
Notice there is an energy flowing,
Rushing towards your fingertips.
It can come to you as a tingly feeling or a warm sensation.
Energy flows,
Rushing towards your fingertips.
Under the skin.
Under the skin.
Just notice any sensation there.
Bring your attention to your fingers and begin to notice your breath at your nostrils or upper lip.
Notice that when you inhale the air is slightly colder than when you exhale.
Now keeping the attention with your breath and notice your fingertips as you breathe.
See what happens to the tingly feeling.
Do not judge,
Just notice.
Your body is now fully connected to your Pranamayya Kosha,
To your energy body.
It's very calming and soothing.
We will go deeper into this relaxation.
I will count from 1 to 7 and with each number you will go deeper into relaxation and your consciousness will rise.
Your consciousness will rise.
I will start the count now.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Now you can state your Sankalpa,
A positive affirmation,
Sentenced in the present tense.
See what rises from your intuition.
Maybe it is I am love,
I am healthy,
I am grounded.
State your Sankalpa three times.
Now we will go on a journey to a deep message from within.
Starting with your intuition.
So imagine yourself standing on a beach.
What does the beach look like?
Is it daytime or is the sun setting?
What is the color of the sand and the ocean?
Just have a look around.
Noticing the ocean breeze brushing your skin.
Maybe you hear birds chirping.
You are watching the peaceful ocean waves and the beautiful sky above it.
Maybe the sun is setting and gently sinking down into the ocean.
Feel the warmth of the sunlight on your skin.
Smell the ocean,
Smell the beach.
Feel your feet grounded down in the sand,
Fully connected with the earth.
Noticing the structure of the sand and feel it in between your toes.
Is the sand warm or cold?
Dry or wet?
Soft or hard?
Just notice.
The beach is completely empty and you have it all to yourself.
You start to walk on the beach all the way up to the ocean until the water gently brushes your ankles.
Noticing the temperature of the water and how it brushes your skin.
Look around you.
Maybe you see birds in the sky,
Clouds,
Little fishes in the water.
Looking over your shoulder behind you.
Is there empty land,
Dunes,
A forest,
A house?
Just noticing your surroundings and enjoying the peacefulness of this beautiful beach.
Look to the ocean again.
Look left or right and decide which way you want to start walking along the shoreline.
Still with your ankles in the water.
You're walking and you're feeling calm and happy.
The ocean breeze is blowing through your hair.
You're feeling the sand under your toes as you walk.
You're slowly walking further.
When a little bit further you see something in the sand.
You notice it is a box,
A wooden box,
Half buried down in the sand.
You start to walk further and further until you reach the box.
Look at the box.
What is it made of?
What does it look like?
Start to reach for the box and dig it up.
Hold the box in your hands,
Observing it.
Is it a tiny box?
Is it heavy?
Is it old or brand new?
Maybe the wood has a structure.
In the box there is a message for you from deep within.
So very gently open the box.
What can you see inside of the box?
It might be a symbol or a message written on paper.
Just notice what is there.
If there is nothing,
That is also a message.
It's your inner voice calling you,
Sending you a message,
What is needed for you.
Hold the message in your hands and see if it resonates.
Looking around,
Find a peaceful place on the beach where you can sit down.
Allow yourself to sit down with the message from deep inside and whatever feelings might arise.
You are sitting down with the message in your hands and close your eyes and meditate on it.
I will let you sit here in this space for three minutes and then I will talk to you again.
If you try to下一 live and can not find yourself the message you need to try again.
.
.
Now you can repeat your sankalpa again.
Repeat it three times.
Now you can rest in this state.
I will talk to your unconscious,
Subconscious and super conscious mind.
If you like you can listen to my voice.
If not that's fine too as healing has already happened.
Beloved unconscious,
Subconscious and super conscious mind.
Whatever healing has happened in this session,
Let it integrate now.
In the body,
In the mind,
In the heart,
In the chakras,
Energy bodies and into your soul.
Whatever is helping you to grow and whatever is not needed now,
Let it be forgotten.
Whatever is helping you to grow,
Evolve and empower,
Trust.
Let it always be there.
Let it always guide you towards love.
Now I will count from seven to one.
When you hear the word one,
You will feel relaxed,
Refreshed and full of energy.
Ready to live your day to day life with trust,
Joy,
Love,
Connection and happiness.
Seven.
Take two deep breaths.
Six.
Feel the oxygen running into your body,
Making it alive.
Five.
Move your fingers and your toes.
Four.
Stretching your arms over your head,
Stretching the whole body.
Three.
Remember where you are.
Two.
When ready,
Gently open up your eyes.
One.
Welcome back.
The practice of Yoga Nidra is now complete.

Wow, that was interesting to put it mildly, or extremely profound, mindblowing and utterly transforming to truly express my experience of this incredible practice. So thank you for this, dear Lotte and thank you whatever forces lead me here. Namaste 🙏 Judging from your name and location I’m assuming that you understand dutch, so please allow me to share with you the words that I wrote down after this practice: zaterdag en week geworden vanaf een uur of vijf heeft onderhuids haar stem de diepste kamers in mezelf, mijn ziel, mijn hart bereikt. ik zing niet meer maar ik vermeld alleen, waarnemend zonder oordeel, mededelend: deze vrouw heeft diep in zich een wijsheid ver voorbij haar jaren en haar stem heeft de unieke gave je aan te raken onderhuids en daar dan je energetisch veld te helen tot volledigheid. ze wijst je genereus (wat onverwacht) de weg aan, het pad waarvan je weet dat je het volgen moet want je herkent haar nu en je vertrouwt haar. en ja, zij (dat is zij, maar dat ben ook jij) vertellen je de waarheid en zonder enige twijfel besef je het ze hebben zonder meer gelijk… Dank je nogmaals 🙏, Tom
