Good evening.

You are so welcome here.

It is time to let the day go.

You may have swirling thoughts about your day—replays of situations,

Conversations,

Thoughts on what is to come the following day.

This is a short meditation to help you let go of the day and invite your body and mind to prepare itself for a healing night's rest.

If sleep does not come easily,

Could you allow the idea of rest to be enough?

Make your intention to take this time to allow rest in whatever shape or form it comes.

Are you ready?

I invite you to take a long,

Deep breath—the longest breath that you've taken all day.

That's it.

Smooth and even.

Now,

Gently let the breath go.

Let us continue to take in breath together.

You may choose to close your eyes if you haven't already.

Drawing each breath,

Extending each exhalation so that it's slightly longer than each inhalation.

Allow the breath to ebb and flow,

Just as it is.

Continue like this.

This time,

As you breathe out,

Bring your attention to your face,

Neck,

And shoulders.

Imagine a warm,

Comforting,

Liquidy feeling flowing down from your scalp,

Relaxing all the tightness in your face,

Neck,

And shoulders.

Breathe.

Bring to mind a welcoming door.

Allow it to take shape.

Draw the edges in your mind's eye.

Allow the image to fill in,

To take colour.

Sketch out the detail.

On the other side of this door is a sanctuary—your safe place.

Know that beyond the door is rest and tranquility.

Just outside of the door is a big,

Round,

Strong,

Woven basket.

Place anything you would like to in this basket—your worry,

Tension,

Lists,

Plans.

They will remain here safe and ready for you to connect what you still need after you have taken rest.

Step through your door to the safe,

Peaceful,

Restful space that you have created for yourself.

Breathing in and breathing out.
