A lovely simple breath practice to do together at the beginning of meetings to support us all to land and focus. By making our exhalation longer than our inhalation, we can engage the calm side of our nervous system and shift from reacting to responding.

Let's breathe together.

Getting into the position you've chosen,

Closing down the eyes or leaving them open,

Just adopting a soft and gentle gaze.

Now without changing or fixing anything,

Take a few moments to notice the fact that you're breathing.

We can become aware of the way the breath moves through different parts of the body.

Perhaps noticing the rise and fall of the belly or the movement of air around the nostrils.

Good.

Now let's take a few moments to synchronize the breath.

We can start by exhaling all of our air out and then breathing in together for a count of four,

Two,

Three,

Four and then exhaling together for a count of six,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Six,

Inhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Exhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Six,

In,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Out,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Six.

Do this on your own for a moment.

Good.

And just allowing the breath now to return to its natural rhythm,

Allowing the breath to breathe you.

And take a moment now to recall the room we're in,

Who we're next to and the purpose for our being together.

You can allow the eyes to gently open if they were closed and gather our attention now towards the task at hand.
