Welcome to Little Shop Meditations.
I'm your host Amy and today I'm going to guide you through a meditation to help you calm anxiety and to offer some comfort today.
These meditations may be played at any point throughout your day and they are to be used as an added tool to add to your daily self-care toolbox.
They are not meant to replace any medical care or any other of your daily wellness needs.
Take a moment and get comfortable.
For this meditation I recommend laying down on a yoga mat,
On a couch in your studio,
Or on your bed and I invite you to close your eyes if that feels okay for you.
This meditation is for those who deal with anxiety or even if you're just having a particularly stressful day.
From my own experience I know that anxiety has no rhyme or reason sometimes and it can happen when you least expect it.
Sometimes it arrives completely out of nowhere.
I've been there and I know what that feels like.
Other times we know of certain triggers that we may have.
Sometimes it's groups of people,
Certain work situations,
Relationship stressors.
Whatever it is you are not alone.
Before we begin I really want to emphasize that there are so many others out there who feel this way.
Everyone from Selena Gomez,
Julia Michaels,
Lady Gaga,
Ryan Reynolds,
Harry Styles,
The list goes on and on.
They have all opened up about their anxiety over the years and I find it healing to simply be reminded some days that we're not alone.
You are not weak,
You're not broken,
You are human.
We are in very complex bodies that are energetically sensitive to our surroundings and we have very physical reactions both inside and outside of us.
In this meditation I'm sharing tools that have helped me personally.
I am not a medical doctor and I completely understand that we have different experiences and different levels of anxiety and stress.
I'm here to share my tools with you and if they resonate or can help you or someone you love in any way please feel free to share them and use them as often and as freely as you wish.
If you're feeling particularly overwhelmed today or in this moment I encourage you to go reach out to someone you love and trust or speak with a medical professional.
There is no shame in getting the help you need and please know that you are not a burden and that you are so loved.
We're going to be doing some deep breathing together to calm the parasympathetic nervous system and to just slow down.
Taking deep inhales through the nose and then exhaling completely through the mouth calms both the body and mind.
We're also just taking this time to relax our muscles,
Relax our bodies and just breathe.
It seems simple right?
Everyone tells us to just breathe when we feel anxious or overwhelmed but I find that breathing together in a group or in a guided meditation like this really makes a huge difference for me.
So that's all we're going to do today.
So that's all we're going to do right here and now.
We're going to take 10 slow deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.
I don't want you to put any added pressure on yourself whatsoever,
I just want you to be here and breathe with me.
Feel free to shake out any tension in your body before we begin.
Loosen your jaw,
Relax every muscle in your body.
And we'll begin.
Take a deep inhale in and exhale out of your mouth for five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Take a deep inhale in through the nose,
Pause and exhale for five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Take another deep inhale in through the nose,
Pause and exhale completely for five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Inhale in through the nose,
Pause and exhale for five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Inhale in and exhale five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Inhale in,
Pause at the top and exhale for five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Inhale in,
Pause and exhale five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Inhale in,
Pause and exhale five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Deep inhale in,
Pause at the top and exhale completely for five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
And last one,
Inhale in,
Deepest inhale of your day.
Inhale in,
Pause and exhale completely for five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Relax every muscle in your body and just melt into the ground.
Feel your heart rate slowing.
And all you have to do is just be here now.
I'm going to give you a few moments here in silence,
But I'll be here holding space with you this whole time.
I'll let you know when our time is up.
And every time your mind drifts,
Just come back to the sounds of the room.
Thank you.
You can begin to wiggle your fingers and toes.
Roll your shoulders out and gently open your eyes.
Take another inhale and exhale on your own time.
And any time that you feel anxious or stress building up,
You can come back to this deep breathing.
You can replay this meditation.
And I hope that it has helped calm you in some small way today.
Sending love from my little shop to you.
