This guided prenatal yoga practice is an opportunity to offer metta, loving-kindness, to yourself, baby and others during their pregnancy journey. I hope mothers find this time as a sacred space to connect with themselves and with baby. These online practices are blossoming out of the need to keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 outbreak. Although in-person classes are canceled, I am honored to offer the gift of connecting through yoga and meditation with mamas.

Hey mama,

Thank you for choosing a time that feels of service to practice together.

Now take your time to find a comfortable and supportive way to stand,

Sit,

Or lie down for this guided practice.

Feel free to use any props like blankets,

Bolsters,

Pillows,

Or blocks to support your practice today.

Let's begin.

Settling in.

Maybe closing the eyes or finding a soft gaze,

Whichever feels comfortable.

And placing palms right at heart center.

Maybe just placing left palm first and then right palm right over left.

Feeling the heartbeat.

Let's land with a deep breath.

Breathing in through the nose.

And exhale,

Sigh out the mouth.

Gently letting the lips come together.

Breathing naturally here.

However it feels of service in this moment.

And noticing if there feels like there's any tension in the arms or the elbows.

Let those soften.

Let your shoulders soften.

Let your hips soften.

Allowing the ground or pillows or bolsters to support you however you're sitting or standing.

This meditation is going to be about offering.

And it derives from a metta meditation or loving kindness meditation.

So with your hands placed over your heart,

Gently repeating these phrases in your head as I say them aloud.

May I be peaceful,

Happy and light in my body and in my spirit.

May I be free and safe and healthy.

May I allow myself the permission to experience whatever emotions are coming up in this moment.

May I allow myself the permission to experience whatever emotions are coming up in this moment.

May I be strong.

May I be strong.

May I love and appreciate others boundlessly and endlessly.

May I love and appreciate others boundlessly and endlessly.

And just noticing what comes up as you offer yourself that wisdom.

Wisdom that you already have within you and carry with you every day.

Perhaps one of the phrases resonated with you or perhaps several.

Maybe choose one or two that you know you can lean on often.

And just gently press your hands a little bit harder on your heart or sternum,

Sending yourself some love.

Gently release and bring the palms right to baby,

To the belly,

Wherever the palms land comfortably.

And so I'll offer some phrases for you to repeat in your head or out loud as you bring baby to mind and inviting baby into this practice with you.

May you be peaceful,

Happy,

And light in your body and your spirit.

May you be free,

Safe,

And healthy.

May you be free,

Safe,

And healthy.

May you allow yourself the permission to welcome whatever feelings are present for you.

May you allow yourself the permission to notice whatever feelings are present with you.

May you be safe,

Happy,

Healthy,

And at peace.

May you be strong.

May you have the power to accept and forgive.

May you love and appreciate others boundlessly and endlessly.

As I promise to love you and appreciate you boundlessly and endlessly,

Now and forever.

Maybe just feeling your palms cradle baby in your belly.

Feeling that connection between the two of you already.

Feeling it strengthen each day.

And now more than ever bringing these wishes and offerings to others beyond ourselves.

Wearing your palms to come to your knees with hands facing the sky,

Palms facing the sky.

And perhaps I'll just name a variety of people that you might know personally and be able to picture or people that have supported you throughout your journey as a mother and who will continue to support you and baby throughout your life and baby's life.

So maybe just picturing many people throughout these phrases as they're read.

Maybe inviting nurses and doctors,

Doulas and midwives,

Wellness coach,

Nutritionist,

Yoga instructors,

Meditation coaches,

Healers,

Spiritual guides,

Mentors,

Your friends,

Team members,

Family,

Partners,

Teachers.

Bringing anyone into this that might benefit from an offering.

May you be safe.

May you be healthy.

May you be happy.

And may you be at peace.

May you be strong.

May you have the power to accept and forgive.

May you love and appreciate others boundlessly and endlessly.

May you allow yourself the permission to welcome any emotions that you're feeling in this moment.

May you be light in the body and in the spirit.

And just taking a few more moments just to be in a sense of stillness,

Offering to others,

To baby,

And to yourself.

You are connected to so much more.

Imagining each one of those people that you pictured reaching their hands out.

And supporting you.

Offering themselves,

Baby,

And you these same wishes.

They're here with you,

Even if not physically with you.

You have their strength and their wisdom guiding you throughout this journey.

Just landing or re-landing by bringing your palms to heart center,

Just palms touch together.

And taking a full breath in through your nose.

Exhale,

Sigh out.

And from my heart to yours.

Thanks for practicing.
