Come into an easy seated position,
This can also be in a chair,
And take some time to fully arrive in the here and now.
Ensure that your spine is in one straight line.
Stack the head over the torso,
Torso over the hips,
Sitting proud and tall.
For this meditation I offer you a mudra,
A hand gesture.
If you need a visual of this mudra you can simply gaze at the picture of this track and follow the instructions to execute the mudra as I read them out to you.
Bring the hands out in front of you and touch the fingertips of the right hand to the fingertips of the left hand,
Forming a little dome over your thumbs.
Bring the outer edges of the thumbs together along the length.
The pads of the thumbs rest just below the index fingers without touching them.
Your four fingers form a round space within the palms as if holding a sphere.
Place the hands facing forward in front of the solar plexus,
With the forearms resting comfortably by the sides.
Relax the shoulders back down and check that your spine is still aligned.
This is the Dharma Pravartana Mudra.
Dharma means truth and Pravartana means to set in motion.
The name of this mudra refers to the Buddha setting in motion the wheel of truth through his teachings.
This mudra sets in motion the process of transformation,
Culminating in health,
Healing and awakening through the balancing of all five elements.
This mudra opens and integrates the first six chakras and all of the five pranava yus,
The currents of energy that animate our body.
This results in an overall sense of well-being that supports the health of all the systems in the physical body.
As you hold this mudra for a few minutes,
Take several natural breaths to tune into all the feelings and sensations awakened by this gesture.
Notice how your breath flows freely throughout your entire torso,
From the pelvic floor to the top of your chest and back down again.
As you follow the dance of your breath,
A sense of growing,
Sense of balance,
Harmony throughout your entire being as each of the five elements comes into balance naturally.
As we bring awareness to each of the five elements,
We also integrate all of their essential qualities.
This allows us to cultivate harmony within all dimensions of our being.
Visualize a red square at the base of your body,
The base of the spine.
This is the seat,
The physical abode of the earth element.
Envision a landscape spreading out from the square,
Encompassing all of the earth with its mountains,
Plains,
Valleys and deserts.
As you tune into the qualities of the earth element,
Take several breaths to smell its rich fragrance and absorb the qualities of stability,
Solidity,
Grounding,
Allowing you to continue your earthly journey in absolute safety.
Moving upwards,
Visualize an orange circle within your pelvis.
This is the home of the water element.
As you fix your gaze and your awareness on this area,
Visualize a circle of life spreading out from this orange circle,
Encompassing the oceans and seas,
Rivers and lakes,
Clouds and rain that constantly renew life's ever flowing stream.
As you connect to the water element,
Take some time to savor its essential quality of fluidity,
Cultivating the ease that allows you to flow with all of life's changing seasons.
Moving upwards,
Focus your internal gaze on your solar plexus.
Visualize an upward facing golden triangle.
This is the seat of the fire element.
Visualize a bright red flame burning steadily,
Encompassing the rays of an inner Sun spreading out from this triangle,
Illuminating your life's purpose.
As the golden rays fill your being,
Take some time to clarify your vision,
Seeing your life purpose clearly as you receive the energy and vitality from the fire element to bring it forth and manifest it completely.
Continuing our ascent,
Your awareness now rests in the middle of your chest.
Visualize an emerald six-pointed star at the center of your chest.
This is the home of the air element.
Visualize a meadow of green unfolding from your heart.
Wild flowers are swaying softly in the breeze as the air element wraps itself around your being.
Take some time to sense the lightness and ease permeating your thoughts and feelings,
Allowing you to embrace life completely.
Moving now your attention to the throat center.
This is the physical abode of the space element or ether.
Visualize a doorway,
A portal through which you perceive the vastness of the universe with stars and galaxies unfolding and expanding infinitely.
As you rest in this vastness,
Take some breaths to attune to the inherent spaciousness of your being,
Releasing all that limits your infinite possibilities.
Now direct your breath to your eyebrow center.
Visualize a bright full moon,
A symbol of integration of all the elements.
As you bathe in shimmering moonlight,
Sense all the elements aligned and balanced within your being,
Allowing you to experience perfect harmony.
As you're ready,
You can release the mudra if you haven't already.
Take some time to come back into your physical body.
Open the eyes and take in the shapes and colors of the sacred space you are practicing in slowly.
Bring in the hands in prayer position in front of the heart to close this meditation practice.
Bow the head to the heart.
Thank you for your practice.
Namaste.
