Relax into a hot bath at the end of a busy day. This bath meditation will help you bring awareness to your own breath, open your senses to observe, receive and experience life in the present moment. As you relax deeper into the NOW, you also rest into the silence that holds all the sounds and the space that holds all the things. Bring mindfulness to bath time, feel the relaxation, bliss and peace it brings.

Hello,

Welcome to today's bath meditation.

Lie in your bath and get yourself in a comfortable position.

Relax your body and close your eyes.

Take a deep inhale and slow exhale.

Feel your mind slowing down.

Feel any tension melting away.

Take another deep inhale.

Feel the warm air coming in and exhale.

Feel your body relaxing into your bathtub.

Take one more deep inhale and another slow exhale.

Let go and feel a sense of peace in the mind and body.

Gently come back to your natural pattern of breathing and enjoy this moment.

If thoughts arise,

Once you become aware of them,

Let them pass by simply bringing your awareness back to your breath.

Now focus on the water.

Allow the heat to comfort your muscles as if it were massaging you to release tension.

While you lay in a state of tranquility,

The water wraps around you like a soft blanket,

With the water particles keeping you warm and soothing you from your head to your toes.

See if you can feel the soft touch the water has on you and feel the steam around your face and neck.

Slowly scan through the rest of your body by simply placing your awareness there as if you were saying a gentle hello to each part of your body and thank them for their service.

Gently allow the awareness to flow from the head to the neck,

Along your arms to your hands,

Your chest to your stomach and your legs to your toes.

Are there any aromas coming from your bath?

Pay attention to it.

Are there other fragrances you can smell?

Where are they coming from?

Enjoy them as you smell them,

Feel the wonders of scents,

The pleasure they gave you,

Immerse yourself into the joy they bring.

Now listen.

What sounds are there in your bathroom,

Aside from my voice and the music?

Maybe you hear a flickering from a candle?

Or maybe you hear the movement of the water in the tub?

Notice any sounds you hear.

Is there any sound you hear from outside of the bathroom?

Say listen and receive.

No need to further enquire or change anything.

As you continue to breathe,

Listen to the silence that's behind all the sounds.

Take a slow deep breath and gently bring a smile to your face.

Let that fuzzy feeling spread through your body.

I am going to be quiet for a few minutes and let you bask in your bliss.

I am going to be quiet for a few minutes and let you bask in your bliss.

I am going to be quiet for a few minutes and let you bask in your bliss.

As we come towards the end of this meditation,

Smile and wrap the arms around you to give yourself a big hug.

Thank yourself for taking the time for a pause and a rest.

When you feel ready,

Take your own time.

Slowly open your eyes.

Thank you for joining me today.

Enjoy the rest of your bath time.

Namaste.

My first “bath meditation”. At the age of 72, not naturally a firm fan of the internet revolution, How splendid to have a Chinese lady with a lovely soft voice in London talk me through a meditation in my bath in Somerset UK. Makes the concept of our individual connection to the universe so much more believable. Thank you Ling Jin!
