Welcome to this meditation to help you relax while you're waiting for results.

You can do this meditation either sitting upright or lying down,

Whichever is more comfortable for you.

If you choose to lie down,

I invite you to place a pillow under your knees for extra relaxation.

Cover yourself with a blanket to keep things cosy if it's cold where you are.

Think about where your body is,

Are you sitting or lying down?

Try and feel the support of the chair,

The floor or the bed below you.

Take 3 full,

Deep belly breaths and let them out slowly.

Feel yourself sinking down and feel your limbs growing heavier.

Waiting for results is really tough,

This is not an easy time in your life so it's important to acknowledge that and be kind to yourself.

It's natural for your mind to run off in all directions so it's great that you're here taking 10 minutes to rest,

Relax and breathe.

Think about where your mind is,

When you notice your thoughts have run away with you,

Return to your breath.

Today we are going to breathe into our bellies,

Feeling them rise and fall,

Expand and contract.

We know that deep belly breathing has a calming effect on the body and mind so this is a tool you can use any time you feel anxiety rising.

You can return to this meditation or you can just pause whatever you are doing and breathe,

Pushing air gently into your belly and then exhaling slowly.

No matter what comes,

You absolutely will be able to face it.

Trust me when I say you are stronger than you know.

And you are here,

Resting and relaxing and that's exactly the right thing to be doing at this time.

As much as you can,

Try and rest your body and mind and breathe deeply.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Let's relax and listen to the music for a while.

We are coming to the end of our time together.

Take a really deep breath and start to slowly move your body,

Move your head from side to side,

Gently wriggle your fingers and toes.

Think about where you are,

Which room you are in and what time of day it is.

Open your eyes,

Take a look around.

One last deep breath together.

Thank you for spending this time with me.

This is such a blessing. I am going to share with my mom who is getting scans today to see if her cancer is localized or not. It helped me too to deal with the stress of waiting.

Such a helpful practice, I know the longer one would be helpful and it’s good it know it’s there if I need it. It’s easy to want to avoid anything with the word cancer in and yet I found this so helpful. Thank you for sharing 🙏
