Boost your mental alertness and productivity with this short Power Nap. Research suggests that taking short naps during the day not only combats drowsiness and improves powers of concentration, but increases your capacity for patience, logical reasoning and optimum performance. This nap-inducer uses your breath, mindfulness and progressive relaxation to allow you to enter a light but restorative state of rest, where your mind can switch off for a few minutes and your body re-balance itself. You will be guided gently out of your nap towards the end. The soothing background music is ‘Adrift’ by Christopher Lloyd Clarke.

Transcript

This short power nap is designed to reboot your mental alertness and boost your productivity.

When you are ready,

Allow your eyes to comfortably close.

As you do so,

Allow the weight of your head to soften into the support beneath it.

Breathe out,

Down the full length of your body,

Letting your shoulders soften,

Your arms soften,

And your hands soften.

Let the whole of your body soften and release what it's been holding.

As you do so,

Allow more of your body's weight to be taken by the surface directly beneath it,

And come down into the ebb and flow of your breath,

Letting it gently slow,

And take you into deeper resting now.

Letting the out-breath release everything your body has been carrying.

Letting the out-breath release everything your mind has been carrying.

Let it all flow out and away as you let that happen.

Allow your eyes to soften and sit back to rest.

Let your mind do the same,

Allowing your mind to soften and effortlessly drift into velvet sleep.

Letting the whole of you drift into sweet sleeping,

Drift into deep resting now.

In your own time,

And when you are ready,

You can slowly begin to wake up from your nap,

Becoming aware of the ebb and flow of your breath.

Notice the contact your body is making with the surface directly beneath it.

Notice you're here in this moment,

Have a stretch if you want to,

And when you're ready,

You can open your eyes to restart your day,

Refreshed,

Renewed,

And restored.

A Lindall Hall signature meditation. Wonderful, restful, relaxing, restorative, to be revisited every time you need a short reset moment. 🙏🏼 😴 😀

I was able to get a deep couple of minutes in. While I wasn’t “up and at it,” I could ease back into my day. Lovely. (It normally takes me another 30 minutes to wake from an afternoon nap!)
