This is a gentle guided meditation for relaxation and stress relief combining mindfulness, breath awareness, grounding and the power of suggestion. This practice is helpful for slowing down an over-active mind, releasing tension and stress, and achieving deep rest.

Transcript

Allow your eyes to comfortably close.

As you do so,

Breathe out.

And allow yourself to soften and sit back.

Feel your body making contact with the surface beneath you.

Soften into its support.

And surrender more of your body's weight.

In your own time,

Let the steadiness beneath you begin to ground you.

And allow your body to release down to the ground what it's holding.

Flowing out of the breath.

Out of the body.

Down and away.

Allow your breath to ebb and flow now.

Allow your breath to ebb and flow naturally.

And your thoughts to come and go without attaching to them.

As you sit back on steadiness,

Let everything sit back from you.

Allow the space to open up in front of you.

And all around you.

To the horizons and beyond.

Take as much space as you need.

And in your own time.

Take your attention gently to your eyes.

Let them soften and sit back in your head.

Look your eyes for all the hard work they've done.

Give them permission to rest in this moment here.

As you breathe out,

Allow any tiredness and tension in your eyes to flow out from your eyes.

Down and away.

And in your own time,

Thank your mind for all the hard work it's done.

Recognize it's been doing its best.

Let it know it doesn't have to work hard right now.

As you breathe out,

Allow any tiredness or holding.

Things in your mind to soften and flow out of your mind in a river.

Down and away.

Soften the muscle of your mind.

Give it permission to rest in this moment here.

And in your own time.

Take your awareness gently to your physical body.

Thank your body for all the hard work it's done.

Recognize it's been doing its best.

Let it know it doesn't have to work hard right now.

Give it permission to rest in this moment here.

And in your own time.

Let it know it doesn't have to work hard right now.

Breathe out,

Down through the length of the body,

And allow what it has been carrying to flow out from your body in a river.

Down and away.

Give your body permission to rest.

As you breathe out,

Let the body release its readiness to do the next thing.

Allowing its muscles and tissues to soften,

Loosen,

And lengthen.

In your own time.

Take your awareness gently to your shoulders.

Breathe into your shoulders.

As you breathe out,

Allow what your shoulders have been carrying to flow out.

Down and away.

Breathe down your arms,

Allowing them to release what they have been holding.

Down and away.

Out through the hands,

Releasing what the hands have been holding.

The arms loosening and lengthening.

The hands softening.

Breathe down the full length of the body,

Once again in a sigh.

And allow what the rest of your body is holding to soften and flow out,

Down and away into the ancient times.

You In your own time,

Take your awareness gently to yourself,

The you inside,

The part of you that's been holding all the shoulds,

Shouldn'ts,

Should've dones,

Have tos,

And what ifs.

Recognize this part of you has been doing its very best for you.

Thank it for all the hard work it's done.

Give yourself permission to rest in this moment,

To not to have to do.

Do not have to push yourself,

Or prove yourself.

Do not have to try hard.

Do not have to try at all.

Breathe out all those shoulds,

Shouldn'ts,

Should've dones,

Have tos,

And what ifs.

Let them flow out of you and away.

Really give yourself permission to rest in this moment.

Allow the you inside you to sit back along with your body and your mind and rest.

Supported by the steadiness beneath you,

Breathing with the space around you.

Allow every aspect of you to just be for a while.

Gently notice what happens when you give every aspect of your being permission to rest.

And in your own time,

You can draw this meditation to a close.
