In this 13-minute rest recording, we slowly move through co-regulation in practical ways, including the role of gravity, where we find solidity and a space that is holding our bodies at the moment. As we become co-regulated we discover a belonging that is directly experienced in this very moment: a simple and inherent belonging of this moment of mutuality. Please excuse the sounds of my cats who join in at the end, as they belong too.

All right,

If you have a candle that you run a red light Go ahead and grab that We're gonna do a tiny bit longer rest this morning.

Not super long.

Maybe like 10 minutes,

But 15 you never know.

I don't All right,

So eyes open for a second here as we often start with eyes open so we can Start eyes open we can start with being here bringing our cognitive attention Into this very moment right now Not the moment in our thoughts or the moments in our memories But the moment of right now As much as possible So we let the eyes look around the space that we're in And Orienting to the safety of this room in a practical way It's not practically safe where you are.

You should move to a different room or a different location I'm gonna assume that we're all in pretty safe rooms that we've chosen to be in and we're just Verifying that with our eyes not we're not a bit.

We're not verifying that with our thoughts or our emotions We're verifying that with our eyeballs and that cognition will connect to our brain in really practical ways scientific ways even Then let yourself if you haven't already look behind you Let yourself twist a tiny bit gets engages the vagus nerve which helps our brain Yourself see the solid Ceiling the solid floor the solid walls The solid space that you're sitting upon I'm gonna assume that even if you are in a rocking chair or in a little bit of a moving chair,

It's still Perceived as pretty solid to your sit bones So then we can let the eyes close and feel that we can feel how Our sit bones or something in our sitting body is going to be feeling solidity under us behind us in an actual factual way And of course this will be experienced for all of us depending on our context I'm sitting with nothing behind my back and my legs cross-legged under me So I feel the solidity and the softness of my couch All right,

So we talked about and both it's both soft and cushiony and solid you can feel that under my feet You can feel that under my sit bones and Then my hands are resting on my lap and my hands are also connecting to the solidity beneath them Through my legs and blanket So I'm just letting your attention discover What is solid What is predictable in this moment for your experience We're inviting attention to really come to an actual factual in this moment through our sitting body there's something of our sitting body that is Connecting to that solidity under us through the field of gravity Or behind us Or in some way,

It's just very simple Doesn't require figuring out and automatically I can I bring in the armpits a lot for fun But I'm also like yeah,

The armpits are there's like a predictable Ness here in my armpits It's gonna be different than my sit bones,

But at the same time there's nothing to solve with the resonance of my armpits There's nothing to fix or manage or figure out Can't really even use words to very well relay the experience Other than maybe warmth or a pressing subtle pressing It's just easy for my attention to rest within So letting your attention continue to very gently and curiously meander in your in your context and to discover What is Not requiring figuring out It's not requiring managing or fixing or analyzing and maybe it's just your little pinky Whatever it is.

Let your attention Hang out there Rest with that as if that's the epicenter of your existence for a few breath cycles We're not denying that thoughts are here,

We're not denying that other things are here of complexity and we're including What is simple in any kind of way in this moment and We're letting ourselves belong with that for a few breath cycles longer What would it be like to belong to this resonance That you're discovering that's simple and easy And just ponder the question it's not one to be figured out it can't even be figured out Breath is here because breath Inherently belongs in the moment.

It can never exist outside of the moment.

So it inherently belongs in this moment We can connect or just notice our relationship with That which belongs right now and in this case the breath We are in belonging with a breath that's happening of this moment.

It can't be anywhere else Breath automatically inherently breathes us in its belongingness If you're trying to make sense of these words,

Just know that you the mental Thoughts will not be able to grasp this but you can feel it you can feel Your ribs being belonged by breath In a way that may not even make sense,

But you can feel the ribs moving How the ribs are belonged to by breath We belong with the movement of breath in this moment we can Feel that in simple Ways so we're invited to really let attention discover the simplicity that we're experiencing this inherent belonging of this moment It may just be the belonging of the breath coming through the nostrils or an exhalation or an inhalation And maybe we don't really feel it as much with breath Maybe we just feel that sense of belonging to the couch in this moment or belonging to our with our sit bones in this moment We're really letting that word belonging be really soft and curious Letting go of what we might have attached to that word and Connecting to it in its most simple way in this this moment right now The breath and I the breath and you belong together The couch and I belong together the sit bones and the couch belong together Just as an actual factual Maybe the air on the skin are belonging With each other in your attention or the hands within each other you can feel that simple Resonance of them belonging in this moment together Maybe if you're outside you feel the Sun belonging and you are belonging with the Sun or the wind You're really being curious of this mutuality that's always in existence and it is here right now in simple ways underneath the minds Right and wrong or good or bad ideas.

There's something simpler happening There's something simpler happening There's something simpler Happening whatever that resonance has That has been discovered That we might have been connecting with through this simple belongings.

Let your attention continue to stay with that Resonance,

It's not a mental or a thought or an idea.

It's an experiential somatic happening Continue to keep attention with that Even as the eyes slowly open even as the body slowly starts to move See if some of your attention can stay with that which is most simple in this moment Can be challenging when we share data as we are sharing more data when we're have the eyes open when our bodies are moving And so it can take effort to keep attention with what is somatically most simple as a resonance Then we'll just gently bring our attention back to screen here If there's something that you discovered in that rest that you want to remember or Continue to be curious about maybe just take a moment to write a couple words down If you're listening to this later you can journal about what's arisen for you Taking this any learning that's come today in this Just inviting that to be Generative any learning be generative to for your system to keep learning discovering
