Hello and welcome to this guided meditation suitable for mothers in their second trimester of pregnancy.
As someone who works closely with pregnant mothers,
One thing I find is it is the most diverse part of pregnancy in terms of where each individual mother exists.
For some mothers it can be a challenging time for a number of reasons.
Our cortisol levels,
Stress hormone,
Is higher in pregnancy and this can cause heightened anxiety and stress.
For many mothers it's the physiological symptoms like pelvic pain,
Headaches,
Back pain.
There are many things that could continue causing stress on our bodies during this time.
And for some mothers,
The second trimester feels blissful,
They feel truly elated and at home within their own bodies.
This meditation has been designed to meet you wherever it is that you are.
So when you're ready,
Getting yourself into a comfortable position,
Whether that's seated,
Lying down,
Whatever it is that will allow you to be comfortable and as present as possible for the next 10 or so minutes.
And once you've arrived here,
Taking a deep and grounding breath and allowing your breathing to flow through you like waves.
You feel your breath rolling up your body and then receding like the tide with each exhale.
And with your eyes remaining closed,
Taking this time now to go within,
You might notice as you draw attention to your body,
Areas of tension,
Discomfort,
And instead of pushing those away,
I want you to allow those to be there.
But breathing into any sticky spots and knowing that your breath is healing.
I'm going to walk you through a quick visualization now to help you connect with yourself and your baby.
I want you to see yourself as you're lying or sitting but I want you to appear in a place.
This place is a garden,
Filled with thousands of flowers,
Grass that is the most rich green you've ever seen and when you reach out and touch the grass,
It's soft.
Taking some time to be familiar with your surroundings,
Noticing the vibrant colors,
Feeling the rich textures around you and noticing the overwhelming sense of calm and ease.
Now before you,
You notice a floating golden orb and for some reason it looks so familiar to you.
You don't know why but you want to reach out and touch this orb and as the orb drifts closer and closer,
You do just that.
Clearly seeing your arms now reaching out in front and holding this orb close to you and closing your eyes,
When you open them,
You're going to see your baby.
Now being mindful that they may appear to you at any age,
But noticing their features.
They might be in your arms and you're looking down at them with love or they could be standing before you,
Not judging what you're seeing,
Just noticing and feeling the love,
The unconditional love between the two of you and I want you to take this time to communicate with your baby.
As parents,
It's really easy to want to protect our children and withhold how we're truly feeling,
But right now,
You are your baby's home and they know how you're feeling,
So taking the next few moments to release whatever it is you need to and sharing with your baby.
And now I want you to be receptive to whatever it is that your baby wishes to share with you and you might have questions to ask during this time,
Just allowing whatever messages come through to be.
Enjoy these last rich moments of being with your baby,
Knowing that there isn't much time now where you'll see them and hold them earthside for real.
So allowing those last minute exchanges to take place and watching as they begin to form into a golden orb again.
You reach out,
You hold the orb and bring it towards your belly.
The connection that the two of you share will remain for the rest of both of your lives and just feeling how comfortable,
How right it feels to have them with you now.
Starting to bring your awareness back to the now,
Back to your body,
Begin recognizing the sounds or the feelings around you and taking one last deep breath,
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
