Preparation For A Tree Honoring Ceremony
by Cindy Bowen
This is an informal intro and podcast about honoring the trees with the ceremony. Grab your tree-hugging friends and join together in meditation. The actual meditation is in the next audio. Start with a sacred fire and offerings to the fire, meditation, then offerings to the trees. Enjoy.

Hello everyone,
Welcome back.
So I wanted to share something with you that happened to me,
To my house,
Actually my yard when I was in Mexico.
We were on vacation and I had a house sitter watching the house and I get this call of panic from my house sitter that a tree had fallen in the yard during this microburst storm.
And I knew that these trees were going to be falling soon and there's very many tall hemlock trees that are very tall and not very well supported by the soil.
And I had spoken to my landlord about,
You know,
Checking on these trees,
Making sure that they're safe and that they don't,
They're not ready to fall down.
And they had said that they were fine,
But anyhow,
One of them did actually fall.
But prior to this,
Because I was knowing and sensing something was going to happen soon,
I had a conversation with the trees and I asked them,
You know,
To please not hit the house.
And if you're going to fall,
Fall this way to the side of the house.
And when I came home and I saw how this tree had fallen,
It just barely missed the house and fell perfectly across the yard,
Only damaging a part of my picnic table.
So I was super grateful and,
You know,
Just so much gratitude when I came back that nothing was really damaged.
But this kind of caused my landlord to be concerned about the other trees that were surrounding this tree that were also leaning towards the house.
And they ended up cutting down 18 trees,
Very large,
Tall hemlock trees.
And,
You know,
Of course,
I kind of fought them on that.
And I felt really bad that it's either us or them,
That they have to die so that we can possibly live.
And went through this whole guilt thing and,
You know,
Just trying to really fight for saving the ones that we could and,
You know,
They just weren't really going to budge.
So anyway,
18 trees came down and I was here the day that all of them died.
And it was very shocking and devastating.
Because being as large as they are,
When they fall down and hit the ground,
It's like a gunshot going off and the entire earth shakes.
It's just the most disturbing feeling and sensation,
You know,
Being that I have meditated with these trees for years and connected with them and made pagamentos to them and payments and offerings.
And it just was very devastating.
So I sat there for several hours listening to these trees die and praying for each one of them,
Crying and sobbing the whole time.
And also,
You know,
Feeling guilty and saying,
I'm sorry,
You know,
I couldn't do more.
And,
You know,
So this has been several months ago that this happened.
It was over the summer.
And I've been making my own,
You know,
Offerings to these trees,
But I really felt that they deserved some sort of blessing and ceremony and honoring of all these trees that were taken down.
And so I invited some very sweet goddess sisters over to my house that love loving on trees as much as I do.
And we sometimes will just kind of go hunt trees around town and give them offerings and honor them and notice them and witness them together.
And,
You know,
It's fun things I do on a Friday night,
Right?
So,
So anyhow,
I did the ceremony last night and I did this channeling prior to the ceremony that we had.
And you can find that meditation and channeling after this audio.
But I just wanted to share with you what we did and how we did it so that maybe you and your friends can do the same thing for either just honoring the trees in your yard that are living or honoring the trees that have fallen,
Whether they have fallen willfully or against their will.
But I also believe everything is some sort of cosmic agreement.
So there's some underlying agreement there for their lives.
Yet,
So we went ahead and did the ceremony.
And first what we did was we honored the trees by starting a fire because it takes wood to start a fire.
And so that's the beginning of honoring the trees.
We collected,
You know,
Some branches and leaves and pine sticks and whatnot from the yard,
From these hemlock pines and created this little teepee and tender starting a very sacred fire,
Offering it cornmeal and tobacco and sage and copal and all of these sacred offerings to the fire.
Once we created the perfect fire and got it lit,
Then we called in the four directions.
And then the above and below,
I guess you would call the six directions.
And you can Google how to do that.
I don't need to tell you exactly.
It's kind of lengthy how to do that.
And then we just sat and listened to this meditation that I created.
And once we were done,
We went along and honored all the trees that were fallen and making them offerings of cornmeal and tobacco and sage and all sorts of different types of offerings.
But we also,
Within the meditation,
Honored the trees that are still alive,
Because those trees that are living are kind of holding down the frequency and the energy of the trees that have fallen.
And one of the most important things of the offerings that we made to the living trees is a clipping of our hair.
And you may have heard me speak before about the Mamos and you know how they talk about making offerings of your hair,
Or cotton or whatnot.
But with the Mamos teachings from the times that I spent with them,
You know,
The hairs are like your antennas,
And the trees are like the antennas of the earth.
And so when we when we give our hairs an offering to a tree,
It's like amplifying that trees energy,
It's amplifying its broadcast.
And so the offerings that we made were there to charge and revitalize those trees and to give them nourishment so that they can hold their frequency and kind of become more vibrant.
And so that was one of the things that we did afterwards.
The other thing was that we and this is a really informal podcast,
I realized it's,
It's just me kind of telling you what I did.
Just so as like a preparation for the meditation that's coming.
But I just wanted to share something with you.
And the one of the other things that we did,
And when these trees died,
I made a promise that I would plant 18 trees in place of the ones that had died.
And so I gave seeds to everyone.
And as we were meditating,
We were holding the seeds in our hand and just charging up with this frequency of love and energy that we were connecting with the trees.
And so once we were done,
We put that seed into a little pot to grow a tree.
And you can even just if you're not,
If you don't have much of a green thumb,
You can just get a tree starter and just kind of keep that close to you while you're meditating and just kind of charge it with the energy and the frequency of the space that you're holding or even can kind of use that tree in your meditation to really give it some vitality and energy for growing into a big strong tree.
So that's really all I have to say.
I just wanted to kind of share with you what we did and how we did it so that when you listen to the meditation audio,
You can get a group of friends together and have a fire and have a whole ceremony and just,
You know,
Really move through that process from beginning to end with fire and meditation and making offerings to those trees in a really beautiful way.
So I hope you enjoy the meditation and many blessings to all of you.
