Welcome.

Today we're going to be going through an exercise,

A visualization,

To really get into the future you.

So I want you to bring up for yourself right now the things that you want most.

Maybe you focus on one goal or two,

But I want you to really think about what it is that you want as we get into this practice.

So let's start by moving around.

I always think it's helpful to move the body before we try and quiet the mind.

So stretch or do whatever feels good to you.

And then when you're ready let's take a big deep breath in letting it all go.

I want you to think about really pressing all of the air out of your lungs on the exhale to really bring our bodies back to and out of rather the flight or fight response.

So I want you to take another big deep breath in and let it all go.

Again pushing all of that air out of your lungs.

And on the next exhale I'd love for you to close your eyes.

And I want for you to bring up that goal again.

Let's pretend like we're fast-forwarding into the future.

We don't have to know exactly when,

But now you have everything that you want.

Put in all of the details.

What does accomplishing this goal look like for you?

What would change?

How would your day be different?

How would your life be different?

Really get into that place where this is done for you.

Put in all of the details that feel good without needing to know all of the details.

So for example if you're looking to get a job offer maybe you don't know exactly what company you're working for,

But we can think about what it feels like to work for a company that you love.

So put in all of those details right now.

Imagine moving yourself into that body.

Put your fingers in their finger slots.

Put your toes in their toe slots.

Feel what it's like to see the world through their eyes.

Feel what it's like to be this future you.

Walk around in the world a little and notice what's different.

Notice how you might speak to yourself differently or how you feel about yourself or about others.

Really take a second to take it all in.

Feel the air on your arms,

Maybe the wind in your hair if you're outside.

What does it smell like to be this future you?

Put in as much detail as feels good and just sit here in the future.

Now I want you to imagine as this future you looking back at the you from the past,

The you of today.

What advice would you give your younger self?

What would you say to the person who's having a hard time or who's struggling to believe that their goal is possible?

Now that you've accomplished what you set out to do,

What would you want to tell that you?

What do you want to tell yourself?

What advice would you give?

Sit here for as long as feels good.

Just look for all of the things that you've learned now that you've accomplished what you want.

And then I want you to imagine reaching back through time and giving that you of today a hug that passed you.

Telling them that it's gonna be okay,

They're going to get there.

You just have to have faith,

Right?

Thanking them for how they're showing up and everything that they're doing to help you reach your goals.

Give them a high five,

A hug,

Maybe dance with them,

Whatever feels good.

Remind them that they're doing a good job.

And then I want you to take one more big deep breath as this future you and let it all out.

And now I want you to zoom back in time to the you of today.

Putting your fingers back in your own finger slots,

Your toes back in your own toe slots.

See the world with this new perspective from the future you.

And notice what changes for you now.

What do you want to do today?

What's one small thing?

What's the minimum thing you could do today that would help you reach your goal that you were focusing on?

What would the future you want you to do?

What's that one small thing that you could do today?

And just in case that achiever part of you really wants to do all of the things and not just one,

What would the future you have to say about that?

How could it be okay that we're not in a rush today?

How could we commit to doing one thing?

And maybe if there are some other things you want to do as well,

Certainly you can.

But how would it feel today to just let yourself off the hook knowing that what you want is happening?

It's closer than you think it is.

And trusting that that's true.

What might you do for fun today?

How could you really love and celebrate the life that you're living right now?

Maybe take some notes on what feels good to you.

And then whenever you're ready let's take another big deep breath in and let it all out.

Pushing all of the air out of your lungs.

Reminding yourself that it's okay to be where you are and that you whatever you want is coming.

And it's a lot closer than you think.

I know it's just the beginning and I can't wait to see what all you accomplish.

Your future you is a lot closer than you think.

Cheers friends.

That was so lovely, thank you. Different to other ‘future you’ meditations I’ve tried - comforting rather than overthinking everything!

My future me is actually just a few hours ahead. I found this incredibly useful for my intermittent fasting which I'm fairly new to. Thanks!
