We're living in challenging times. If you are having trouble adjusting to the "new normal," taking the time to bless the mess can help you more than you might imagine. When you bless the mess, you allow yourself to embrace all of the chaos that exists in life. Blessing the mess is all about acknowledging and accepting and seeing things as they are, not how you want them to be. This mindfulness session can help you go from surviving to thriving, or as we like to call it sur-thriving.

Welcome to the Bless the Mess series,

Mindfulness for a New Normal.

As you go from surviving to thriving,

It's important to acknowledge where you are in life.

In other words,

You have to bless the mess.

When you bless the mess,

You allow yourself to embrace all of the chaos that exists in life.

You can find things to be grateful for,

Even in the midst of a storm.

Blessing the mess is all about acknowledgement and acceptance,

And seeing things as they are,

Not how you want them to be.

You can't move forward in life until you embrace where you are and bless the mess.

You have to be able to embrace your life for wherever you happen to be,

Good or bad.

Blessing the mess helps you sit with your thoughts in a detached manner.

By observing your thoughts in this kind of manner,

You can then begin to disassociate from them and let them go.

Mindfulness really means to live in the moment.

It's really that simple.

Let's do that now.

Stop whatever you are doing and take a nice deep breath in.

Feel the gratitude of being in this moment.

Make yourself mindful.

Notice what's on your mind.

Mindfulness isn't solely about stopping thoughts.

It's about acceptance and acknowledgement.

And before we get started,

Let's take a moment to repeat a short blessing.

In this quiet space within,

I honor who I am.

I bless the mess.

I embrace the chaos.

Help me to be present only in this place and time.

Help me step away from all that worries me.

Help me have faith that I am being guided in ways that will bring me amazing results.

Thank you.

See if you can accept things exactly as they are today.

Bless the mess.

Be grateful.

Life is messy.

People are complicated and it's okay.

Now bring a big smile to your face and give yourself a mental hug.

Congratulate yourself for how far you've come in life.

We don't often give ourselves enough credit for everything we have already overcome.

Smile in once again and let your thoughts float away.

And imagine those thoughts are like white puffy clouds in a beautiful blue sky.

And gently push them away.

Acknowledge those thoughts and let them go.

You are not your thoughts.

It's okay to take this time to live in the moment and live in the breath.

And don't get discouraged or frustrated if your mind is wondering.

Thinking can be a powerful distraction.

It's important to realize that it's okay to take five.

It's okay to stop and take a break.

You deserve it.

Now begin to let go of any expectations as to how your life should be.

Embrace this new normal.

Bless the mess.

Become mindful of your surroundings.

Listen for the sounds around you or the beating of your heart.

Listen to your breathing and focus on that.

Notice what you sense or feel with your mind's eye.

Be willing to observe without judgment.

You're not trying to change anything here.

You're simply acknowledging.

Become mindful of anything you notice and sit in the silence.

Stay present in the moment for as long as you like.

Ease into the stillness of this beautiful moment.

Bless the mess.

Be grateful for your life,

Even if it feels challenging.

And take some time every day to sit and breathe.

Bless the mess.

So grateful.

And with one more deep breath,

Bring your attention back to the present moment and open your eyes.

It fit exactly what I needed today, where all things had landed at this moment. The title is fitting and I'm glad for it to distinguish from all the other meditations with general titles-what this one was about.
