I developed this visualisation/meditation to help people visualise success before attending a job interview. The breathing techniques used in this are inspired by Thay Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen Master, Buddhist Monk. I wish you all the best in your upcoming interview. Enjoy.

My name is Leonie Lam and I am a career coach,

Corporate trainer and speaker.

The purpose of this meditation is to help you visualise success in your job interview.

I personally wish you peace,

Calm and success in your upcoming interview.

I invite you to close your eyes as it will help you effectively visualise the interview.

I will invite the sound of the bell to commence our visualisation together.

We will begin with three rounds of breathing exercises.

Breathing in,

I'm aware that I'm breathing in.

Breathing out,

I'm aware that I'm breathing out.

Breathing in,

I am aware that I'm breathing in.

Breathing out,

I am aware that I'm breathing out.

Breathing in,

I am aware that I am breathing in.

Breathing out,

I am aware that I'm breathing out.

I invite you to place both hands on your heart,

Connecting with how you feel.

Connecting with how you feel.

As you listen to my words,

Please repeat these words in your mind or out loud.

I am calm.

I am relaxed.

I am well.

I am calm.

I am relaxed.

I am well.

Imagine arriving at the interview location 10 minutes before the interview.

You approach the receptionist,

You smile,

You introduce your name and you let the receptionist know that you are here for a job interview.

The receptionist walks you to the interview room and you are invited to take a seat and wait for the interviewers.

You place your notes,

Your phone number and your phone number.

Pen and paper on the table.

You take a seat,

Making yourself comfortable in your chair.

And you take a moment to take some deep breaths.

Now just notice the colour of the walls in the meeting room.

Notice the sounds you might hear,

Maybe the sound of the air conditioner.

Notice what you can smell,

Such as the smell of coffee or tea.

Notice what you can taste,

Maybe the aftertaste of coffee.

Notice what you can touch,

Maybe the pen or paper on the table.

Get in touch with all of your senses,

Connecting your body,

Your mind and your heart.

As you sit in the interview room,

You can imagine the atmosphere.

Waiting for the interviewers,

You feel slightly nervous.

It is natural to feel nervous at job interviews and the interviewers understand this.

Sometimes the interviewers are nervous as well.

It might be their first time interviewing a candidate.

But be kind to yourself,

Be gentle with yourself.

Allow the nervousness to be released through your breathing.

Breathing in and letting it go.

And remember,

You have been invited for an interview,

Which means you have to be nervous.

Do you have the relevant experience,

Knowledge and skills for the role?

The interviewers arrive in the meeting room and they greet you with a smile.

You smile with enthusiasm,

You shake their hands and speak to them clearly and confidently.

You slowly take a seat,

Sitting confidently,

Straight posture,

Taking a few deep breaths.

One of the interviewers asks you the first question,

Tell me about yourself.

You respond with,

First,

I would like to thank you for the opportunity for this interview.

You respond to the first question positively,

Communicating clearly and confidently.

You feel happy with your response and you are feeling more confident.

The interviewers ask you further interview questions where they ask for information about you.

The interviewers ask you further interview questions where they ask for examples of your work.

You provide relevant examples.

You continue to speak clearly and confidently throughout the interview.

You notice the interviewers are happy with your responses,

They are nodding their heads,

They are taking notes and asking additional questions.

You can see that they are interested in you and your experience.

You are happy that you have provided responses to all questions.

At the end of the interview you are invited to ask questions.

You ask your intelligent questions about the job and the company.

The interviewers are impressed with your questions.

The interview comes to an end and you end the interview on a positive note.

You thank each and every interviewer and let them know you are looking forward to hearing from them soon.

You smile,

Showing your gratitude and enthusiasm for the role.

The interviewers stand up to say goodbye.

You slowly stand up,

Shake their hands and confidently walk out of the meeting room.

You know that you did your very best in the interview.

You are happy with yourself.

Congratulations,

You have completed the visualisation of your upcoming interview.

I personally wish you all the best.

May you be at peace,

May you be happy.
