Hello beautiful souls.
So this month is all about intention and so this breathwork practice is designed to help you become intentional with your breath.
So often we think that breathwork has to be this complicated thing but through this practice I'd like to show you that it doesn't have to be.
Today's breathwork practice is called Shashumna Pranayama and we're being intentional by tracing our breath up the spine to the crown of our head and from the crown of our head down through the spine.
It's really all about feeling and noticing the breath as you inhale up and feeling and noticing the breath as you exhale down.
Are you ready to get started?
So wherever you are find a really comfortable position,
Whatever position feels most comfortable for you.
I do recommend being in a space where you can really notice the elongation of your spine.
So if being seated feels good for you I definitely recommend that.
So as you make your way into this position I invite you to close your eyes if that feels safe for you or maybe you can keep a low gaze staring down at the tip of your nose.
And so with your eyes closed or with a low gaze just take a moment to notice your breath.
Simply noticing the natural pattern of breathing and beginning to notice your inhales and your exhales.
As you continue to notice your inhales and your exhales maybe you can soften a little bit more into the position that you chose.
Maybe you lean back a little more,
Maybe you soften your shoulders a little bit deeper.
As you continue to notice your natural pattern of breath let's take three rounds of cleansing breath here together to prepare us for this Shashumna Pranayama.
So take a deep inhale through the nose as you inhale belly starts to expand and as you exhale sigh it out.
Another big breath in really filling up through the nose and as you exhale sigh.
One more take your deepest breath of the day really filling up through the nose and as you exhale sigh.
As you take your next inhale trace the inhale all the way up through the spine up into the crown of the head and then as you exhale trace that breath back down through the spine.
Inhale it up exhale it down.
Inhale up exhale down.
Inhale up exhale down.
Inhale up exhale down.
Inhale up exhale down.
Inhale up exhale down.
Continue to engage through the Shashumna Pranayama at your own pace inhaling up through the spine and exhaling down the spine.
As you continue this breath work practice maybe you recite the affirmation I am intentional.
Continuing to notice your breath continuing to be fully present in this moment continuing to feel the fullness and the intentionality of the breath.
Coming down to your last three rounds inhaling up the spine and exhaling down the spine.
Two more just like that and let's take our last one together inhaling up exhaling down and let's take a cleansing breath to end this practice together.
Taking a deep inhale through the nose exhale sigh it out.
I hope that you enjoyed this breath work practice and remembering that all you have to do is be intentional about your breathing.
Breath work doesn't have to be complicated it just has to be intentional.
Sending you so much love.
