Winter is the time to journey inward. This meditation invites your mind to mirror the vision of a clear Mountain Lake. On this meditative journey, you’ll begin by tuning into how your mind, when turbulent, reflects the choppy surface of a lake. Then, together, we’ll feel the slowing of the storm, winds, and snow. And as you slow down the mind by slowing down the breath, your consciousness becomes clear and reflective.

Welcome to this meditation for winter.

Winter is a time to go inward.

Reflect.

To connect to the deep truth within yourself.

Take the next few minutes for you.

Just to relax into the moment.

Into who you are right here,

Right now.

Find a place that's comfortable.

Either sitting or lying.

And begin by taking some nice,

Long,

Slow deep breaths.

Inhale through the nose.

And exhale through the nose.

And start to find the rhythm of your breath.

For as you slow down the breath,

You slow down the mind.

The mind and the breath are a bridge into one another.

Inhale through the nose nice and slow.

Exhale through the nose,

Soft and silky smooth.

Let your breath be the guide into your depth.

Winter is a time to go inward.

To connect to who you are from the inside out.

Winter is calling us to find our authentic expression to discover who we are.

Winter beckons us to slow down.

And to seek the truth from the inside out.

And as you slow down the breath and slow down the mind.

Our consciousness becomes reflective.

Reflective of who we are in this infinite universe.

And there's an ancient saying.

Let your mind be like a clear mountain lake.

And so as you drop into this meditation experience and the thoughts settle down.

Your mind becomes clear and reflective of the scenery all around.

The turbulent mind is like the choppy surface of a lake.

And as you slow down the mind by slowing down the breath.

Your consciousness becomes clear and reflective.

Like that mountain lake reflecting the sky,

The mountains and the trees all around.

And if any thoughts arise,

They're like a cloud floating by the sky.

You can notice them and then let them pass without attachment.

For you are the observer.

You are pure awareness.

Breathe in and breathe out.

And you can notice the thoughts but you also notice the observer of the thoughts.

And this is who you truly are.

Pure consciousness.

Pure awareness.

Observant.

Observant but not grasping.

Not attached.

Present and powerful.

Inhale through your nose.

Exhale through the nose a little bit slower now.

Observe the breath.

Observe your mind.

And now just have that intention that the thoughts and the ideas,

The inspirations that come up and come across the surface of your mind.

Be true to who you are.

And whatever images arise,

You can let go of the ones that don't resonate and cultivate those images and ideas that are inspirational and resonate to your authentic expression of who you are.

Keep your breath slow and deep.

Let the universe speak to you through the screen of your consciousness.

And just have that sense of contentment right here in the moment.

And by going within,

The whole universe reveals itself.

Feel that sense of being connected.

Connected to the sky above.

Nature all around.

And the earth below you.

And just take the next few minutes to establish that deep connection to yourself.

That deep connection to the universe all around you.

And when you're ready,

Can slowly open your eyes.

Stretch your body in any way that feels right for you.

And just take five minutes to write down any inspirations that you received from your meditation.

Any ideas?

Any creative inspirations?

Anything that you want to bring into your daily life.

And have a beautiful,

Peaceful rest of your day.

I love this winter meditation and hope you’ll do a longer version with more time to be and breathe in this deep, reflective space. Thank you. 💚
