Struggling to get to sleep? Allow me to guide you into a very relaxed state of mind and body. Repeating silent affirmations along the way, when your mind starts to get busy. The first seven minutes of this practice is guided by my calming voice. The remainder of the time is gentle music, to further calm the nervous system into a restful state of awareness. Sleep well, my friend.

As you lie here now,

Ready for a beautiful sleep to come,

Start to take a few long breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.

In through the nose,

Filling the chest and the belly,

Side out through the mouth.

One more big breath in,

The biggest breath of your day.

And a slow but big release through the mouth again.

As you find yourself settling into your sleeping position,

Adjust to where you need to be right now.

Whether it's on your back,

Your belly or your side,

Whatever position you best sleep in.

Get yourself comfortable because once you're comfortable,

You're going to be as still as can be.

As you lie here now,

Notice exactly how you lie.

Whether your head rests,

Your belly or your back,

Even down to your legs,

Are they straight,

One off to the side,

Curled up.

What is your favorite sleeping position?

I want you to do your best here to remain still,

Not letting any fidgeting happen.

Unless of course you have an itch or something like that.

Now notice your breath.

Is it slow or fast?

Is it shallow or deep?

Does it feel irregular or steady?

And when we do drift off to sleep,

Your breath is actually coming from your belly.

So if you're lying on your back,

Make sure your shoulder blades are comfortably tucked behind you.

If you're on your belly,

That's fine,

Or any other position for that matter.

And start to breathe into the belly,

But just short breath.

And then relax as you exhale.

You breathe in slowly and mindfully through the belly.

And relax.

Continue that belly breath now until it becomes a habit.

And as we drift off to sleep,

Sometimes our thoughts can get in the way.

We toss and turn,

Going from one thought to another,

Or maybe stressing about something in particular.

There is a wise quote that goes like this.

If you are depressed,

You are living in the past.

And if you are anxious,

You are living in the future.

But if you are at peace,

You are living in the present moment.

So let us be in peace right now.

Let go of all else.

Just be here.

Allow yourself to think of nothing.

Think of nothing.

Think of nothing.
