Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit who is in you,
Whom you have received from God?
Our bodies are our temples.
We hear this phrase,
But what does it truly mean?
Historically,
Temples were places of worship and where man communed with God,
A space where heaven met earth.
Our bodies are powerful conduits of knowledge and energy that point us to our Creator in every single way.
They work in tandem with our minds and souls to alert us when something is out of balance.
We were made to experience the Spirit of God holistically,
A deep knowing through our mind,
Body,
And soul,
Not just as a surface level acquaintance.
We were created as a direct reflection of our Creator's image.
Our bodies let us know when something is wrong physically,
Emotionally,
And spiritually.
In the same way that making choices that are not beneficial to our bodies leads to unrest,
The same is true for spiritual and emotional aspects of things.
The choices we make,
Just as they affect others around us,
Affect every aspect of us.
There is a ripple effect through our minds,
Bodies,
And souls whenever we make a decision on where to draw physical,
Emotional,
And spiritual sustenance.
Romans 8 explains it in this way.
It says,
Those who live according to the impulse have their minds set on one's desires alone,
But those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
The mind governed by impulse and compulsion is death,
But the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
There is a difference between living life alive and essentially sleepwalking or remaining unaware of what our bodies and minds are communicating.
We were created in a specific way that mirrors resurrection power.
If we are constantly choosing things for our bodies and minds based on how we feel in the moment,
Giving in to every desire,
It has a domino effect on our health.
It leads to a sort of spiritual death or disconnect,
Affecting our physical and emotional health as well.
Getting to the root of addictions,
Compulsions,
Trauma,
And identity issues returns our bodies to a state of wholeness,
Life,
And relationship with our Creator.
Our bodies and minds were wonderfully created by a Creator who seeks deep relationship with us.
We have the responsibility to do the healing work in our lives as an act of love and reconciliation towards ourselves,
Others,
And our Creator.
Creative wellness is the idea that allows us to discover healing modalities that fit our personalities in each of our unique situations.
Healing can become an outlet through which our creativity flows.
Our creative blocks begin to dissolve just by exploring ways to heal that are conducive to our individual bodies.
Creativity and healing can be intertwined to set a solid internal foundation.
I truly believe that healing can be a joyful adventure that produces clear vision and breakthrough.
Proverbs 29 18 says,
Without a vision the people perish,
And this perfectly speaks of how our souls were created to create,
Dream dreams,
And how we experience hopelessness when we have no vision for the future.
We have an innate desire that was placed in our hearts before the beginning of time to fulfill our destiny,
And healing is the first step.
Psalm 139 13-18 When I first saw my unformed body,
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
When I awake,
I am still with you.
One of the greatest struggles in life is not being able to truly grasp that we are created in our Creator's image.
In spite of the fact that we were known before we were even formed in our mother's womb,
We are created with intention,
Purpose,
And for the glory of God.
To know him and to be fully known by him.
What would it look like to fully realize this incredible truth?
Genesis shows us the first lies in recorded history.
In Genesis 3 1-5,
We see the serpent say,
You will be like God,
When addressing Eve's hesitance to take the forbidden fruit.
Even today we see many ideas that spring from this lie.
The other lie we see are the serpent's words,
Did God really say?
These words alone are a problem.
They are the basis of our lack of identity,
Along with a dissolving of trust,
Security,
And peace.
Did God really say we are wonderfully made?
Did God really say that he brings the peace that passes understanding?
The list of doubts this lie spreads is never ending.
The sowing of discord through these lies has trickled all the way down to our current day and still seriously affect our self-worth.
These lies were spun to make it look as though God was withholding something good from his children and that they were missing out on something.
One of the best counteractions to these lies is to immerse ourselves in the truth.
The word of God is living,
Active,
And provides strength in our times of doubt.
We can tend to view God's love for us through a clouded lens.
If we have experienced an emotionally absent parent,
An abusive partner,
Or some other skewed form of what love means,
We tend to subconsciously limit the extent of God's love and compassion.
But there is hope.
Renewing our minds with truth is imperative.
For you created my innermost being.
You knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful.
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place,
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
I awake.
I am still with you.
