Namaste,

Everybody.

Welcome to In the Flow with Lori Albert.

My name is Lori Albert and I will be your guide on this journey today.

Today we are going to talk about meditation.

Imagine that,

Right?

Did you guys know that we as human beings have between 60 and 80 thousand thoughts a day?

That's a lot of thoughts,

Right?

And you know if you really look at it in in these times,

You know,

I wonder if there's even more,

You know?

I wonder if there's even more,

But you know this is why managing these thoughts with meditation is so important and that's why I wanted to talk about meditation today.

The act of meditating,

There are so many reasons why we should meditate.

There are so many reasons why we could,

Why we should,

Why you know all of that,

Why we should meditate.

But I get,

Because I talk to a lot of people about this because this is one of those,

You know,

I talk about spirit and I talk about meditation like constantly to everybody,

Right?

And there are so many reasons why people give me why I just don't,

I just don't meditate.

And I'll be like,

Well why?

What is your reasoning?

Well it takes too long.

I don't have that kind of time.

I just can't,

I end up thinking too much or I end up or I just can't think,

I just can't sit that long.

You know,

The phone will ring or my favorite is,

I don't know how,

Right?

And I'm always like,

Well join me.

But you know,

There are so many reasons why people give,

Why they don't meditate.

And you know it's funny to me because I always want to say,

And I would never say this to anybody,

But I always want to say,

Just tell me you don't want to.

You know,

Just tell me you don't want to.

I can give you,

You know,

And this is probably what they don't want to hear,

The 25,

000 reasons or the 60 to 80,

000 reasons why we should meditate,

Right?

Meditation helps with stress.

It does and it helps you physiologically too.

It helps you and your blood pressure.

I have an autoimmune disease,

Right?

And so people with autoimmune diseases tend towards like depression and that sort of thing,

Right?

And so every time I go to the doctor,

How are you doing?

Are you feeling okay?

Do you like,

How's your head?

You know?

And I'll be like,

Oh I'm great,

You know?

And I went in for a procedure one time and the lady was like,

Wow,

Do you like run?

And I started laughing my butt off because I kept thinking,

Ah no,

I haven't done that in a long time,

Right?

I can't,

I can't do that right now.

And she goes,

Why?

I said,

Why?

And she goes,

Because your heart rate is like so amazing.

And I'm like,

Well,

If you want to know the truth,

I meditate twice a day and I have for 20 years.

Not twice a day for 20 years,

But I've meditated for 20 years.

I've meditated twice a day for several years now,

But,

But you know,

You got to start somewhere,

Right?

So there are many reasons to meditate.

There are many types of meditation.

If you're interested,

Shameless plug here,

My,

My meditation teacher,

My guru,

David G,

Has a book called Secrets of Meditation and it has everything you would ever want to know about meditation if you're interested.

If you're not,

That's fine too.

I don't,

I don't get upset about stuff like that.

So you know,

If you're not interested,

That's all good,

You know,

But there are many ways to meditate and here's the thing,

You got to figure out what the right way is for you because we all have that special way that like tweaks us,

You know?

It's kind of like when you're going shopping and you buy this dress and this dress feels awesome on you and you look great,

But then your friend tries it on or somebody else tries on the same dress and you come out and you go,

I wouldn't buy that.

You know what I'm saying?

It's all,

It not,

It doesn't fit for everybody.

Not every single type fits for everybody.

There are multiple ways of meditating.

There's breath,

There's following your breath,

There's mantra meditation,

Which we do a lot,

There's affirmation meditation,

There's color meditation,

There's chakra,

There's guided meditation,

There's chanting,

You know,

And that's my purpose of doing this daily is so that I expose you guys to all the different types and what and so you can figure out what works for you because it's not a one-size-fits-all thing,

Right?

My personal favorite is ethereal music.

Oh my gosh,

Ethereal music,

Meditating and I just sit in the,

Well it's not silence,

But I sit in the ethereal music and I follow my breath and it takes me to another plane.

It is freaking amazing,

Right?

That's my favorite,

But I love chanting,

Love,

Love,

Love chanting.

Krishna Das is like freaking amazing,

Right?

And mantra,

I mean here's me,

I love them all,

But it all depends on what tweaks your melon,

As they say,

Right?

So today what we are going to do is we are going to do a basic one.

We are going to follow our breath,

Okay?

So let's get ourselves,

Let's get ourselves comfortable this morning.

Let's take a nice deep breath in really,

Really slow through your nose,

Filling up your body with oxygen and release.

Beautiful.

Let's do that again.

Let's take a nice long,

Really,

Really slow,

Deep,

Deep breath in through our nose,

Filling up every cell in our body with oxygen and release.

Very good.

So today,

As we get set to sit in the silence,

I'd like for us to create our intention for the day.

What is your intention for today?

It may be,

It may be just to smile more today,

It may be to be more productive,

It can be as generic as you are,

Or as specific as you choose.

And with that,

Let us get our gratitude on.

What are a few things,

What are three things that you are grateful for?

Could be the beautiful day,

The sun outside,

It could be that you are actually getting out of your house today,

It could be that you're proud of yourself for getting up and meditating every day.

What are you grateful for?

So now,

As we get ready to sit in the silence,

Let's start following our breath as we breathe in and breathe out.

We breathe in and out.

And just follow your breath.

If you find yourself wandering from following your breath,

It's absolutely okay,

Just gently bring yourself back.

I will keep the time,

And let's begin.

Breathe in and out.

Breathe in and out.

Breathe in and out.

Breathe in and out.

Breathe in and out.

Breathe in and out.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Let's breathe in our intention for the day,

Whatever you created.

Make it real,

Have it go deep into your bones.

Breathe out.

Beautiful.

You can start your breathing to come back to normal,

If it isn't already.

And whenever you feel comfortable,

You can open your eyes and know that you have created,

You have created an intention for the day,

And you've sealed it with this meditation.

That's awesome.

That is awesome.

So I challenge you all today to go out into the world and be your intention.

And then join me again tomorrow or whenever to meditate some more and try a new way.

Thank you all for joining me as much as you do.

I appreciate who each one of you are to me.

And this is in this community that we are creating.

So until next time,

Namaste everybody.

Thank you so much for joining and enjoy your day.

Bye bye.
