When you know you just want to meditate, let’s take on making it meaningful. My dear friend, Pierre Bensusan, has permitted me to use his track called ‘Sentimentales Pyromaniaques’ from the album 'Altiplanos'. “The Ancient Angels” composed by Music Of Wisdom - Licensed from meditationmusiclibrary

Namaste and welcome to the Spirit Rooms daily podcast,

In the Flow with Lori Albert,

Where we discuss spirituality,

Meditate,

And allow positivity to envelop every aspect of our souls.

Welcome.

So I had one of those crazy,

Exhausting weekends where I was super,

Super busy.

It was so tiring and I clearly lost my voice a little bit.

But yesterday I was like completely down for the count.

It was,

Yeah,

One of those,

You know.

But I'm telling you all this because I wasn't able to meditate since Friday.

Friday.

Oh my gosh.

Now for a meditation teacher,

That is a really long time to go.

It's been three days since I've meditated.

That's a really,

When you're a meditation teacher,

It's a long time to go without meditating,

Right?

You don't have to own it.

You know,

We're nothing if we're not,

You know,

Being truthful.

It was really stupid of me because I could have used that balance,

You know?

Oh my gosh.

It was really stupid and I could have been more balanced.

I could have been less nutty.

I could have been more relaxed because this is how I feel when I meditate.

I feel centered and I feel centered spiritually and physically.

So we are going to jump right into meditation today because I feel like that I'm not the only one feeling that way.

So today I am going to use the Gyan or Chin hand mudra.

And I'm talking about this and I'm saying it this way because this particular hand mudra,

It assists and helps us with concentration,

Helps release the tension going on in our bodies,

Creates positivity.

So now those are the things I use it for and I love that.

It creates connection,

But it also helps with like focusing and insomnia,

All that kind of stuff.

So the cool thing about this hand mudra is that the index finger represents ourself,

Our self and our thumb represents our higher self.

So when we bring or spirit,

You know,

So when we bring the index finger and the thumb together,

At the tips,

It's like we are connecting back to spirit and we sit with our palms up and you can sit,

You know,

You sit with your palms up,

Your hands on your knees and it's like you're inviting in the energy,

The energy of the energy of self,

The energy of concentration and focus and just surrender.

Cool.

Now we are not going to use a mantra today.

I want us to sit in the stillness and concentrate on our breath and when,

And I use when because it's going to happen,

When you have a thought while you are sitting in the stillness,

Because we all will have thoughts.

You will have a thought while you're sitting there.

Just gently in your mind's,

In your mind's eye,

Not physically,

Just gently wave it away.

Just gently wave the thought away.

Don't get upset that you're having a thought.

Just push it away in your mind and come back to your breath.

You can always just focus on the in and the out of the breath.

Right?

Okay.

Today's meditation is about the surrender of it all.

The surrender of just allowing ourselves to be.

Okay.

All right.

So let's get ourselves comfortable.

However that looks for you.

If you're not interested in using the hand mudra,

That's absolutely fine.

But I will be using the gyan or the chin hand mudra.

Close your eyes.

Allow your body to relax just a little bit.

If you fall asleep or you have thoughts,

It's all okay.

I will keep the time and remember to focus on your breath.

Allow yourself to surrender.

Breathing in and out.

And let's begin.

B you you you you you you you you you you you you you let's start bringing our awareness back to our bodies the chair we're sitting in be very gentle with yourself start to move your fingers and your toes you can release the hand mudra allow yourself to come back to the present moment whenever you feel comfortable you can open your eyes namaste
