It's All Within Us
by Lauri Albert

Namaste everybody.
Welcome to In the Flow with Lori Albert.
How's everybody feeling today?
Feeling okay?
Yeah.
It's one of those times,
You know,
Mercury's starting to get ready to go retrograde,
All of that good stuff,
Right?
So when I was young,
Oh and probably up until I was a little older too,
I guess,
You know,
I was really fragile and sensitive.
If you said boo to me,
I would be like,
Oh my god,
Oh my god,
Oh my god,
And I'd be like,
Why does that person hate me?
Or why does,
You know,
Why are they making me feel that way,
You know?
Why do they want me to feel bad?
I would do that all the time.
Now many,
Many years later,
And many self-help seminars and all that kind of stuff later,
I realized and learned that it all starts from within.
And my favorite,
One of my favorite quotes of all time,
Eleanor Roosevelt said,
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
And I remember hearing that many,
Many years ago and thinking,
Whoa,
And it's like it smacked me between the eyes.
I have to consent to that,
You know?
I have to,
When somebody says something to me and it makes me feel bad,
Well that that comes,
That's me that's making me feel bad.
Those are just words.
And I think about it in terms of like all of that kind of stuff,
It's just words.
Words are man-made.
Whoa!
That's pretty deep for a,
For morning,
Right?
If it's morning where you are,
Right?
It's pretty deep.
Time is made up.
Time is a man-made thing.
That's why living in the present is so important.
It's so important.
It's so important.
And not allowing these things to get to us,
You know?
Like not allowing what somebody else says to get to us.
So it starts from within.
It starts from here and right here.
I was so,
I used to get so discouraged and so sad,
You know?
But we don't have to be that way.
We don't have to live like that.
So we,
What we do is we find modalities to help us to get out of that place and know if we're here,
If we're good here,
If we're good in our heart,
Then we're good,
Right?
We have to find modalities that help us get out of that space,
That head space,
That space,
That little voice in your head that says,
Well,
They just think that you're ridiculous,
Or they just,
They don't like you,
Or,
Or,
You know,
They,
They're trying to make you feel bad.
Not necessarily.
We're trying to make us feel bad because that's what we do.
That's what we do.
That's our,
What our mind does,
Unfortunately.
So like I said,
We need to find the modalities to help us get ourselves out of that.
And quite honestly,
Meditation is one of them.
Meditation can be the vehicle for you to get yourself out of that,
That headspace because it helps us get present,
Right?
Another modality for that is chanting.
And that's what we're gonna do today.
I know we don't do this too often because I,
I don't want it to be,
I never want to keep us in like one frame of mind.
I like to keep us thinking and learning about other ways of doing things,
Right?
So we're gonna chant today.
So I hope you guys are ready for that.
You can chant very quietly if it's,
If it's not the right space for you to be chanting.
You don't have to do it loudly.
You can whisper it,
All of that,
Right?
It is what it is.
And that's what I love about what I've been learning these last several years.
It's just,
It's all what is your comfort zone,
Your own personal comfort zone,
Okay?
So what we're gonna do is we are gonna chant a beautiful chant.
And the chant is Om Nama Shivaya.
Om Nama Shivaya.
Some of you may have heard of that.
It's a,
It's a,
It's a an adoration to Lord Shiva,
The Hindu God.
But what is so cool about this,
And in more sort of modern times,
Om Nama Shivaya has kind of come around to be like a chant to say,
I bow to the divine inside me.
So it could be what,
Whichever you choose,
Whatever feels right for you.
That's the whole important point to this whole thing.
It's whatever feels right to you.
But you know what?
It's good to try these things,
Right?
So we're gonna try chanting today,
Okay?
And I have my mala beads.
Oops,
I kind of nodded up there.
I have my mala beads,
And mala beads are kind of like they reminded me of the rosaries,
Because you know I grew up Catholic,
Right?
They,
They remind me of rosary beads,
But there are exactly a hundred and eight the whole way around,
Okay?
And when you're chanting,
You chant whatever the phrase is or whatever,
108 times.
And 108,
All these ancient mathematicians and such,
Have said that 108 times is like the completeness,
Right,
Of the presence and in the harmony of the universe.
That's what this,
That's what 108 times represents,
Okay?
So we are going to chant Om Namah Shivaya 108 times,
And after that we will be silent,
And you concentrate on your breath.
You can say Om to yourself,
Or you can just concentrate on your breath and be quiet,
Okay?
And I will keep the time so you never have to worry about that,
Okay?
So let's get ourselves quiet and comfortable,
Okay?
And close your eyes,
And let's take a nice deep breath in and release.
Very good,
Very good.
The chant today is Om Namah Shivaya,
And you can just follow along.
Om Namah Shivaya,

Let's take a nice deep breath in.
And release.
Let's seal this meditation time by chanting Om one time.
Take a deep breath in.
Take a deep breath in.
Whenever you feel comfortable you can open your eyes.
So how did that feel?
Did you guys feel the vibration after we were finished?
I could have sat in the silence for another hour.
That vibration is therapeutic and loving and it's just amazing to be able to sit in that.
So that's one of the joys,
The beauties of chanting is that it creates this vibration and it helps bring up your vibration.
Your energetic vibration so that you are in a place of joy.
So I hope you enjoyed that.
It's a little early in the morning here and boy my voice was not that great.
But you got the gist of it I hope.
So yes,
We just do the best we can.
So thank you for joining today.
I appreciate all the beautiful vibes that you guys send me everyday.
Thank you for joining and until next time,
Namaste everybody.
Have a beautiful day.
