Look at a stranger on the street. Do you know what is in their heart? They could be happy, angry, broken, crushed, or joyful and we will never know. But we CAN radiate love… the healer of all things. My dear friend, Pierre Bensusan, has permitted me to use his track called ‘Sentimentales Pyromaniaques’ from the album 'Altiplanos'.

Welcome to In the Flow with Lori Albert,

A brief,

Positivity-inspiring chat and meditation designed to uplift and motivate us to live our best lives.

Let's get in the flow.

You know,

You just have some things that happen to you sometimes,

Right?

And you just get this,

You have this moment of clarity,

Right?

I saw a quote last week,

Actually,

I think it was on Insight Timer,

Where I,

You know,

I saw a quote,

Okay,

First of all,

It was a Maya Angelou quote,

Right?

So I see the quote and I read it,

And then I looked away,

And then I was like,

Hold on,

I need to be present to this,

You know?

And the quote is this,

Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.

It's so simple,

Right?

It's such a simple thought.

And all I could think of was,

I got,

I don't know what it is lately,

I do not know what it is lately,

But I keep thinking about seeing strangers on the street,

Right?

So many of us,

And I'm just going to say it,

So be prepared.

So many of us have,

Men and women,

Have RBF.

And some of you probably know that that means,

I'm just going to say resting bitch face,

Right?

I have that,

Right?

Okay,

So,

But I'm very fortunate in that I'm on Zoom a lot,

I'm on,

You know,

And I get to see what my,

I get to see my face.

So I'm learning how to kind of maneuver that.

But then I started thinking,

I started thinking like,

So many people don't have that.

That like,

We just,

We can't tell,

My bottom line here is,

We can't tell if someone is happy.

You can never really tell if someone is happy or sad or mad.

You can usually tell when somebody's mad,

Right?

But just by looking at someone's face,

Like the stranger on the street,

They,

These,

Sometimes people look like they're happy as all get out and they're not.

Like look at Robin Williams,

You know,

We think in terms of,

You know,

Face value a lot of times.

And we think about,

You know,

We see people and we think,

Oh my God,

Look how beautiful they are.

They,

They must have their whole life together,

You know,

Like their hair is gorgeous and their clothes or whatever.

And they probably,

Oh my gosh,

They have the best life.

They have money,

But maybe they don't.

Maybe they don't.

We really don't know.

You don't know.

So today I was thinking in terms of this,

Because just because it looks like someone has it together,

They might not.

Right?

So there's that.

The bottom line is we judge.

We judge everything.

Don't we?

You go to Starbucks and you get a coffee.

You judge the people in front of you.

You judge the person behind the thing getting your drink.

You judge the people waiting for the,

You judge the person making your drink.

Are they going to do that?

Right?

You know,

We judge everything.

It's crazy.

It's crazy when you think about it.

Right?

Now,

We all do it and we all do it all the time.

And the sooner we recognize that fact,

The sooner we can move on.

You know what I'm saying?

Like,

So we,

So we realize that we were a judgy person.

We're all judgy people.

Every single one of us judges everybody and everything.

So get that off the table.

Right?

And just sit back and say to yourself,

You know what?

I'm going to do this differently.

There's a,

There's a principle and it's it's a big conversation,

So I'm not going to get totally into it now.

It's called Ahimsa.

Ahimsa.

And basically what it is is it's the practice of non-judgment to all living things.

Non-judgment,

Kindness and compassion.

That's what Ahimsa is.

Right?

So we think about that.

Sometimes we are so quick to judge.

Nonviolence is what Ahimsa is.

Nonviolence,

Meaning,

That's why I said it was kind of a big conversation,

Right?

Nonviolence,

Meaning in our thoughts as well as anything else.

Right?

We're so quick to judge and not have that kindness and compassion.

Right?

You could see someone's skin tone and you make it,

You make a snap decision.

You could see someone's dress,

Someone's outfit and make a snap decision.

We do.

Could see someone's hair or their face.

But here's the point.

What if we became the light in someone else's darkness?

That's what Maya Angelou is talking about.

Be the rainbow in somebody's cloud.

Paying it forward in kindness,

Even just a smile can change it all for someone.

You don't know what that person might be going through.

I love the idea of being just a little bit of a light in someone else's darkness.

And it amazes me how simple the concept is.

You know what I mean?

It's like it's a simple concept to just be light to somebody and just give somebody a stranger,

A perfect stranger,

Just a tiny bit of kindness.

So what we are going to do today is,

Well,

First of all,

I want to offer that to you all as a challenge for today.

When you're out and about and you're seeing people that you don't know,

First of all,

Smile.

Let's get rid of the RBF.

I mean,

Seriously,

RBF is like a real thing,

Man.

It really is.

I mean,

Before I was doing a lot of Zoom and stuff,

I did not realize.

You know?

It is difficult with a mask,

But you can see it in somebody's eyes when they are smiling.

And that's what I think it would be great today to pay it forward.

I love that.

Right?

Okay.

So what we're going to do is we're going to meditate on this,

Right?

We're going to meditate on being the rainbow.

In someone's cloud.

I love that.

So let's get ourselves comfy.

Sit yourself in a comfortable position.

It can be any way you want.

Close your eyes.

And as we're getting ourselves comfortable and ready to just meditate for a few minutes,

Let's consider a few things that we are grateful for.

You know,

This is going to sound strange.

Maybe or maybe not.

I am so grateful for these little tiny things that I recognize.

Just seeing that quote,

That few word quote.

That few word quote,

Be the rainbow in someone else's cloud.

So what are you grateful for then?

What are you grateful for today?

And any day.

And I and I know I say this a lot,

But it's highly personalized,

Isn't it?

I mean,

I'm thankful for the scarf I have on.

I'm thankful for my really cool coffee mug.

I'm thankful that I got to spend yesterday with with my husband and daughter.

Having a little bit of fun.

So our affirmation that we are going to meditate on just for a few minutes is this.

Today,

I release feeling judgment of others and view the world from a place of love and compassion.

Today,

I release judgment of others and view the world from love and compassion.

Imagine saying that to yourself over and over and over again all day long.

We have the ability to change the world.

When we start looking and sending love and compassion to the world,

Other people do it,

Too.

It's that ripple effect.

Today,

I release feeling judgment of others and I view the world from love and compassion.

Today,

I release feeling judgment of others and I view the world from love and compassion.

And that kicks up your vibration,

Doesn't it?

So let's just sit quietly with ourselves and repeat the affirmation.

Today,

I release feeling judgment of others and view the world from love and compassion.

I will keep the time and let's begin.

I will keep the time and let's begin.

I will keep the time and let's begin.

I will keep the time and let's begin.

I will keep the time and let's begin.

I will keep the time and let's begin.

Today,

I release feeling judgment of others and view the world from love and compassion.

Today,

I release feeling judgment of others and view the world from love and compassion.

Let's bring our awareness back to our bodies.

And remember to take this affirmation with us as we go throughout our day,

Spreading the rainbow effect.

Today,

I release feeling judgment of others and view the world from love and compassion.

Namaste.
