Welcome to In the Flow,
A positivity-provoking podcast designed to lift us up to that higher place to live our best lives.
We will laugh,
Cry,
Meditate,
And discuss any and all things spiritual to learn and remove any stigma surrounding spiritual gifts,
Meditation,
Prayer,
And the afterlife.
Hi there and welcome in the great spiritual teachers of our time,
Both living and transitioned,
Right?
They teach us so many lessons,
Right?
Obviously.
I mean,
From all of the books,
The Rig Veda and the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita,
All of these and the Bible and all of these amazing spiritual texts teach us so many lessons on how to live our lives,
Right?
And the things that we can do to live a better life,
Create a better life for ourselves,
Right?
And interestingly,
I came across two quotes from the Paramahansa Yogananda.
And I wanted to tell you guys this because it's so fascinating that all of these spiritual texts that I've been trying to really get into and really read a lot,
Really read,
You know,
Like the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita and all of that.
It's like the answer seems to always go back to meditation.
I don't know why.
So like,
If you want to,
Like today,
What I'm going to talk,
What I'm talking about is fear and how to get a hold of that emotion and,
And,
You know,
Have like a real life remedy so to speak for fear.
And the Yogananda talks about how meditation it is.
So I want to read you these two quotes because it just,
It's amazing to me how everything goes back to meditation.
I love that.
Oh my gosh.
Okay.
So this is what,
This is the quote,
The first quote from the Paramahansa Yogananda.
Okay.
This is what he says,
Under no circumstances,
Let fear take control of your mind and will.
Whenever there is a fear,
Look at squarely in the face,
Try to remove the outer cause and take steps to embolden the mind to overcome that trepidation.
Now what he's talking about there is taking the steps to bolden the mind.
Well that's,
He's talking about meditation and you'll understand why in just a minute when I read the next quote,
But that's just,
It's,
It's,
They make it sound so easy,
Right?
You know,
They make it sound like it's like,
Okay,
So you take the steps,
You embolden your mind to overcome the fear,
Right?
So and then that leads to the next quote.
Fear comes from the heart.
If ever you feel overcome by dread of some illness or accident,
You should inhale and exhale deeply,
Slowly and rhythmically several times,
Relaxing each with each exhalation.
This helps the circulation to become normal.
If your heart is truly quiet,
You cannot feel fear at all.
I just,
I've never seen that quote before yesterday and I'm just so struck by the amazing sort of simplicity of the answer,
The,
The,
The,
The,
The answer to it,
The remedy for fear.
Fear comes from the heart.
Wow.
And it's telling,
And he's telling us inhale and exhale.
Well that's,
That's meditation for sure.
You know?
So that's what we are going to meditate on today.
We're going to meditate on ridding ourselves of fear.
Actually we're not going to meditate on that.
What we're going to do is we're going to focus on our breath and we are going to,
We are going to focus on the inhalation and the exhalation and what that does to us physiologically.
Isn't that amazing?
We have so much control over this.
And it's so funny because it's not like I didn't know this,
But,
But we have so much control over this more than I ever imagined.
We have control over our fear.
We have control over our emotions.
But one of the main ways to control these emotions is with meditation.
So perfect.
So let's get ourselves comfortable.
Let's get ourselves comfortable because we are going to,
We're going to go deep today.
I have a feeling that this is going to be a deep meditation for,
For a lot of us.
Right?
So let's sit comfortably.
Close your eyes whenever you're ready and let's take a nice deep breath in and release it.
Very good.
Before we,
Before we start sitting in the stillness,
Let's get into that space of gratitude that I loved.
It's so wonderful to start your day out in a space of gratitude.
Right?
So what are just a few little things that you are grateful for today?
What are just a few things that make you feel like life is worth it?
Right?
What are a few things?
Very good.
You can feel the vibration rising,
Right?
So our mantra for the day is simply OM,
The hymn of the universe.
OM is the collection of all the sounds that there are,
And it is the connection between everything in the universe and everything on earth.
It's about divine connection.
And I prefer my own personal preference is to sort of sing it.
As we repeat OM,
Let's focus on our breath,
Every inhalation and every exhalation,
Purposefully.
If you get lost in the meditation,
You can always go back.
Just push the thoughts aside and go back.
Focus on the breath.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I know the tapes were mostlyis here,
But I would be Apart,
Probably am.
Cicadas chirping birds chirping birds chirping My Chant.
Aum.
Aum.
Om.
Let's start to bring our awareness back to our bodies.
Let's take a nice deep breath in.
Very intentional.
Exhale.
Very good.
Whenever you feel comfortable,
You can open your eyes.
And I know that that's just a sort of a short meditation,
But it amazes me how it's so true that meditation truly can rid yourself of some of these emotions that are unwanted.
Fear or dread or guilt or jealousy.
If you just focus on your breath for just a few minutes,
It can change everything.
And it's not just the Yogananda's teaching.
It's all of the spiritual teachers.
Devaji,
Obviously,
His main thing is meditation can change everything.
And I love that.
We have the ability to rid ourselves of these unwanted ways of being.
We have the ability through meditation.
So it's absolutely amazing to me.
So anyway,
Thank you so much for joining.
I appreciate it.
And when in doubt,
Meditate.
That's our theme for the day.
Right?
So thank you all for joining.
From my heart to yours.
Namaste,
Everybody.
