There is a deep well of pain from grief and loss within us all, often inaccessible due to a variety of cultural and personal obstacles. It is possible to practice being with what is, without trying to change or eliminate it. We can learn how to contain it, trusting ourselves to hold the pain with compassion and ease.

Feel free to find a comfortable position,

One that allows you to feel relaxed,

Letting your muscles soften as your body finds comfort in its posture.

And begin to take a few deep breaths as you settle into your being.

Letting your awareness settle into your body and taking a moment to notice what's present.

The pain we feel on a day to day basis that's created by recent loss,

Struggle,

Confusion,

Overwhelm.

That pain resides in our body in different forms.

Taking a moment to gently scan through your body without trying to change it or modify it in any way.

Simply noticing where that emotional pain exists.

Could be a tightness or tension in the neck or throat.

Physical pain in the back or bigger muscles of the legs or feet.

Could be a shakiness or jitteriness or need to move from inside out.

It could be a hollowness or void in our belly or a general heaviness on our heart or entire being.

Understanding where these areas exist within you without trying to understand why or from where it comes.

Can you breathe into those areas and gently cradling them like a fragile leaf or flower petals.

Letting them be supported by your strong hands without crushing or changing them.

The pain that exists in our body can also be our teacher's.

Giving us insight to things too unbearable to face.

Asking us to honor them,

Respect it and send it loving currents of kindness,

Of validation,

Of understanding that this is the thread that connects all humans together.

While our brain might suggest it's too much to hold,

Is it possible for us to practice making space for what is here.

Practice responding to this pain with gentleness,

With love,

With kindness.

Giving it permission to rest and find respite within us.

It is only here that we will find an indestructible nature within us.

Albert Camus says,

In the midst of hate I found there was within me an invincible love.

In the midst of tears I found there was within me an invincible smile.

In the midst of chaos I found there was within me an invincible calm.

I realized through it all that in the midst of winter I found there was within me an invincible summer.

For no matter how hard the world pushes against me,

Within me there is something stronger,

Something better pushing right back.

It is not about denying the pain that exists.

It is about feeling it,

Creating a container to hold it while also allowing our inherent goodness,

Love and connection to also be felt.

We can dip our toes into the well of grief in little bits at a time before opening our eyes and also witnessing the beauty around us.

May you all feel at ease and connected.

May you feel vibrant and strong while also noticing pain.

May you be filled with loving awareness towards yourself and others.

Taking a few more deep breaths in and out and when you're ready slowly letting light back in through your eyes.

Namaste.
