This is a meditation for parents and guardians.

Coming into a comfortable seat or even laying down.

Whatever feels best to you in this very moment.

Take a deep breath in and sigh out through the mouth.

Deep breath in and exhale sigh.

Let the shoulders melt away from the ears.

Let the jaw soften.

Just feeling that flow with your breath with each inhale and exhale.

Letting go of your day.

Letting go of what might be coming up for you later.

And just arrive right here.

Right here.

Right now.

The next 10 minutes are for you to relax.

To relax and just be.

There is nothing required of you except to breathe and just be in your body.

You are doing the best you can.

You are doing the best you can with the tools you have been provided.

You are nurturing another human being in this physical realm.

Not an easy task.

Take a deep inhale and exhale release.

That doesn't mean that we can't desire to have more patience and understanding for the little person in our lives.

Inhale and release.

You mean so much to your child.

You are their whole world.

Even though sometimes they may not be able to show their appreciation for all that you do.

They love you very much.

Deep breath in and exhale release.

And you love your child so much.

Even though you may have challenging days where you might lack patience,

Your love always stays.

Deep breath.

Feel your belly rise and fall with each inhale and exhale.

Children are their own people.

Although they may have come through us,

They belong to themselves.

They have their own unique identities and personalities.

You are helping them grow into themselves.

To grow into their best selves.

Take a deep breath in and release.

Maybe there's a challenging situation or some resistance you are experiencing with your parenting.

Maybe you can surrender that now and let go of what you cannot control.

Take a deep breath in and on your exhale surrender.

Let's do that again.

Deep breath in and on your exhale release.

Let it go.

Let it go.

Let it go.

You are doing the best you can.

Show yourself kindness and compassion and love.

Forgive any regrets or misgivings.

Each breath is a chance to start fresh.

Deep inhale and release.

The more understanding you show yourself,

The more understanding you can show your child.

The more love you show yourself,

The more love you can show your child.

The more patience you show yourself,

The more patience you will show your child.

On your next inhale,

Breathe in.

Breathe in understanding,

Love and patience for yourself.

Exhale release.

You have an inner child.

A child that even in your adult form needs to feel safe and to feel loved.

Nurture that inner child.

Be kind and understanding to yourself.

Show yourself the patience,

Compassion and love that you would show the child version of yourself.

Feel your chest rise and fall with each inhale and exhale.

Letting that feeling of having an inner child resonate with you.

What would your inner child want to share with the child in your life?

If they were two kids playing,

What kind of fun would they have together?

No matter if you are an adult or a child,

We are all the same.

We all desire to be cared for and loved.

Deep inhale and release.

Maybe there's an area in your life that you've been taking too seriously.

Maybe there is a way to invite some playfulness into your day.

Take a deep breath in and on your exhale start to bring a gentle smile to your face.

Feel the corners of the mouth turn up ever so slightly.

Children are full of such imaginative and creative energy.

Sometimes as adults our passion for these things start to wane with our daily demands.

Next inhale,

Hopefully still keeping that smile on your face,

Invite creative and fun energy back into your realm.

Nurture your inner child by allowing yourself some silliness sometimes.

Take a deep breath in and release.

Take another deep breath in and release.

Be patient,

Be kind,

Be loving to yourself.

And you will be patient,

Be kind,

And be loving to your little one.

You are doing the best you can and every breath is a chance to learn and grow.

Take one last deep breath and one last deep sigh.

And just sit inside.

And one last deep sigh and just sit in silence for a few moments to end this meditation.

And hopefully carrying this calm and playful energy with you throughout your day.
