Hey there.
Welcome.
I'm Lauren Behr.
I'm really glad you're here.
For today's meditation I'd like us to focus on becoming deeply relaxed and we're going to do this by imagining a place that allows us to feel more grounded and become more relaxed as we progress through this meditation.
What I have in mind is a place like the Colorado Rockies where you've got the steep and jagged mountains where you have areas of exposed rocks and areas of trees.
We'll picture a combination of different kinds of natural elements and I'd love for us to imagine sitting in a rocking chair on a covered porch with a light rain falling.
Perhaps you've sometimes noticed that when there's just a light rain the colors will appear really vivid.
So let's imagine that as we're rocking gently back and forth.
We can hear some gentle rain falling as we're looking out over an expansive view as we start to relax into this meditation.
Pay attention to any tension in your shoulders or maybe even find that you're making a fist which is sometimes I've noticed myself doing during meditations.
You can wiggle your body just a little bit and find any areas that you can relax.
And if you find yourself breathing shallow or it's more up in your chest try to relax your abdominal muscles and allow that breathing to sink down into more of a belly breath.
We continue to imagine that gentle sound of rain.
We can imagine hearing the sound of rain on the porch,
On the roof.
We can even imagine hearing it falling on the leaves or other natural elements nearby.
You can tune in to the sensory aspects of your imagination and you can tune into these different areas as we move through the meditation together and continue hearing the sounds of rain in our imagination.
Feel the sensation of a rocking chair and if you like you can actually rock back and forth a little bit where you're sitting.
Imagine this rocking helping your body settle down into a more relaxed state as you're able to feel the tension melting away.
Let's think about the colors you can see in this picture that you've painted of the mountains.
Are you able to see a lot of different shades of green or are you picturing fall colors?
We can also tune into our sense of smell.
We could imagine that we're able to smell that fresh smell that you can smell along with the light rainfall or maybe you can smell some pine trees or maybe some other plant life nearby.
Tune into that aspect of your imagination for a few moments.
What are you able to smell in this space?
Let's return our focus to the rocking chair.
I hope you're imagining a really comfortable rocking chair moving gently back and forth.
As you're imagining this remember to breathe.
Let's tie these different sensory elements together into one big picture with the focus being on the moment and not time traveling where we're thinking about the future or the past.
For this little window of time let's focus on the imagery of the expansive mountains,
The light rain,
And the gentle rocking.
For right now there's nothing else for you to do and there's nothing else for you to worry about.
We can simply allow the tension of our bodies to relax into a more comfortable place of healing and well-being as you imagine this setting.
Feeling this rocking imagine that you can feel big shifts in the state of your body where you can feel entire areas moving into a more comfortable place,
A more comfortable energy level,
A deeper state of relaxing,
A deeper state of relaxation.
Let's take a moment to focus on any areas that tend to be the places where you carry tension.
Do you tend to carry any tension in your jaw or in your forehead?
Maybe in your shoulders or your chest.
It could be your back or your hips.
Maybe even your arms or your legs.
Tune into your hands and your feet and see if you find any area where you carry tension and encourage that area to let go of that tension.
Sometimes you need to move around a little bit to allow your muscles to settle back into a more relaxed place.
You can take a few more deep breaths before this meditation is over and you move on with your day and you're able to bring this image of the covered porch,
The gentle rain,
The expansive view with you as you go through your day.
Go gently.
