The purpose of this Yoga Nidra practice is to reprogram and re-pattern your mind and body in order to prime your creativity to flow freely through you. We move past the confines of the conscious mind into the deeper levels of awareness. Yoga Nidra transports a practitioner beyond the conscious mind into subtler levels of awareness, a “hypnogogic state” to increase creativity.

Hello and welcome to this Yoga Nidra practice.

This practice is intended to support you in cultivating creativity and removing emotional blockages.

During this Yoga Nidra practice,

Use and absorb what you need at the moment and leave the rest behind.

Try to remain awake by listening to the sound of my voice.

You will be asked to move your awareness to various bodily sensations,

Emotions,

And images.

If the mind becomes overactive with thought or worry,

Come back to the sound of my voice.

Before we begin this practice,

Find yourself in a comfortable position lying down.

Support yourself with any pillows or blankets so that you can feel completely at rest.

Now,

Become aware of your breath as it moves in and out of your body without effort.

Notice the sensation of the breath as it moves in and out of your nostrils.

Follow your next inhale into your nose,

Up your sinuses,

Down the back of your throat,

And into your lungs.

Then,

Let that breath go and allow the breath to flow naturally.

Continue to watch the flow of breath in this way.

Now,

It's time to state your sankalpa or intention for your practice.

A sankalpa is a deep heartfelt vow of something we wish to experience or manifest into our present life.

It is not anything material but rather a feeling or emotion we wish to more deeply embody.

What is this for you?

What is the feeling you wish to feel above all else in your life?

The sankalpa is formed using an I am statement.

I am grounded,

I am centered,

I am energized.

If nothing comes to mind,

Simply say to yourself,

I am opening myself up to learning more about my deepest self.

Repeat your sankalpa in your mind three times,

Feeling it as truth.

We will begin a systematic journey of sensory awareness throughout the body.

You will transfer your awareness to different parts of your physical body as I name them while remaining completely still.

Allow your mind to effortlessly transition from part to part with the pace of my voice.

We will begin on the right side.

Now,

Feel into the energy just outside your skin.

Notice the connection between you and the space around you.

We will go on a journey by starting to float your awareness outside your body,

Feeling into the room around you.

Now,

Expand your awareness to include the community around you.

Now,

Feel into the whole town or city that you're in.

Expand out even more to feel the entire province or state that you're in.

Now,

Expand further to feel and visualize the whole country.

Continue to expand until you are aware of the entire continent you are relying on.

Become aware of the whole northern hemisphere of the globe and the southern hemisphere.

Become aware of the western world and the eastern lens until you're aware of the whole entire planet Earth.

Take your awareness to see the whole solar system recognizing that we are spinning rock part of a larger whole.

Now,

Gently reverse your attention from space back down,

Down,

Down until you're back in your room,

In your body and in your breath.

Visualize your whole body relaxed and resting on the earth.

Now,

Imagine you're walking through nature without a sign of the modern-day world.

You notice the beauty of nature all around you.

Your feet as you walk make direct contact to Mother Earth beneath you.

With each step feeling grounded to the earth and while feeling lifted towards the sky.

Feel the vibrant heartbeat of nature in the plants,

Air,

Water,

Earth and animals.

Feel the natural vibration of life flowing all around you taking it in through all five of your senses.

You hear the sound of moving water and feel moved to investigate with your curious mind.

The sound of water gets louder.

You feel and taste the moving water in the air as you get closer.

The water appears in front of you as a flowing river.

Watch the water flow freely within the confines of this natural forming riverbed.

Your curiosity leads you to follow the flow of the water.

As you follow the river,

You notice the sound of water begins to change.

Up ahead,

You see the river has big rocks blocking the once flowing river and causing the water to disperse in all different directions.

You approach the blockage and slowly begin to pick up one big rock at a time and then placing it on the riverbed.

One rock at a time,

You reform the edge of the riverbed.

Feeling the weight of each rock in your arms as you consciously lift it with all your body,

Move to the outside and slowly place and release the heavy weight outside the river's path.

You continue to do this process with each rock until the river is unblocked and the water is flowing in one long powerful movement.

Now,

You follow the river to its resting point,

A big open clearing where the water pools up as far and as wide as your eyes can see.

You are inspired to get into the deep and full pool of water.

Now,

Inside the vibrant pool of water,

You lay floating on your back staring up into the clear sky.

You allow the sky to act as a blank canvas to mirror what the creative mind is ready to tell you.

Watch the sky without needing to control the messages.

Clouds might begin to pass by or take shape.

Watch with detachment.

What message does your higher or intuitive self want you to know right now?

You receive the messages you need and with a deep sense of gratitude in your heart,

You repeat your sankalpa to yourself three times now.

Come back to the feeling of your breath flowing in and out of your body.

Notice the heaviness of your body as it rests on the floor.

Take your awareness into all the points that are touching the floor.

Keeping your eyes closed,

Visualize your surrounding room.

Imagine where you are in the room and the objects or beings around you.

Lie quietly until you feel ready to move.

Start by slowly moving your hands and feet.

Take your time,

There is no hurry.

Gently roll to one side and use your hands to press yourself up from the floor and let your head come up last.

Give yourself a closing moment to consciously let this practice sink in.

Remember that your practice moves with you from this moment and into the rest of your day.

Take a nice full breath and fill yourself up to your version of full.

Pause at the top and then open your mouth and sigh it out.

Bring your hands to the center of your chest.

Gently nod your head.

Namaste.
