There are seasons when we follow every flicker of interest, mistaking movement for momentum. This meditation is a return — to presence, to discernment, to the quiet art of noticing. We begin with the breath to anchor the body, move through a gentle noting practice to soften mental noise, and close with a contemplative prompt that asks: Where is it you most feel the flow of attraction? This is not a meditation to figure things out, but to feel your way back to the center. To trust the compass you’ve always carried. To steer gently.

I always wonder about how easy it is to chase things that feel exciting in the moment,

But often leave you feeling emptier.

Like attraction without direction,

Desire without discernment,

And how sometimes we call it intuition,

When really it's just a beautiful way to drift.

I've had weeks where I've followed every pull,

Every flicker of interest,

Thinking it meant something just because it sparked.

But interest isn't always alignment.

Attraction isn't always direction.

Michelle Lamy,

French cultural icon and muse to Rick Owens,

Once said,

She follows a flow of attraction and she tries to make a living out of it.

And I love that,

But it also makes me wonder,

How do you tell the difference between the flow and the flood,

When you're following something real and when you're just trying to run from stillness?

So today I really wanted to just sit with that,

Not to necessarily figure it out,

But to feel it more clearly,

To notice the moments where presence gives shapes to pull,

To see if there's a current beneath the current.

We'll move through breath,

Through simple awareness,

And we'll close together with a contemplation practice,

Not to fix,

But just to notice.

If you're here,

Maybe you've been drifting too.

Maybe you're also learning what it means to steer gently.

Let's begin.

So wherever you are,

Take a moment to get still.

Not rigid,

Just here.

Spine lengthen.

Crown to tailbone.

Let the shoulders soften.

The jaw unclenched.

No need to do the breath,

Just come home to it.

Let's breathe together.

Inhale deep into the low ribs.

Open the mouth,

Exhale,

Let it go.

One more time together,

In.

Lips close now.

Breathing in through the nose for two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Breathing out through the nose for two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Breathing in,

Two,

Three,

Four.

Let's stay with this rhythm,

Not rigid,

But just steady.

My wonders,

Notice that too.

Let's return back to that breath.

Let your breath be slight,

Effortless.

Back to your natural breath,

No trying,

Just being.

We're going to now shift into a practice called noting.

If you've never done this before,

It's easy.

Whatever shows up in the mind or in the body,

You just label it.

Softly,

Like a whisper.

Oh yeah,

I'm thinking.

My elbow's itchy.

Oh yeah,

I'm planning again.

Note it,

And then return softly back to the breath.

Note it,

And then just gently returning back to the breath.

If it helps,

You can count one with the inhale,

And two with the exhale.

Going all the way up to a count of ten.

When you hit ten,

Just coming all the way back down to one.

Starting over.

And when you do get those thoughts,

Know that you're not doing it wrong.

In fact,

Noticing that thought,

That's the practice.

The breath is your anchor.

The labels your tether.

Whatever arises,

You don't need to chase it or to change it.

Just let it pass.

Clouds in the sky.

Watching,

Not reacting.

You don't need to clear the mind.

You just need to meet it exactly where it's at.

We're going to move into our contemplation practice,

And we're going to close with a question.

Not to answer it,

But simply sit with it.

Bring to mind this prompt.

Where is it you feel the flow of attraction?

What do you notice about this place?

That's it.

That's it.

You might feel something shift,

Or you might not feel anything at all.

It could be a place.

It could be a memory.

It could even be a version of yourself.

Whatever comes up,

Let it come.

When it leaves,

Let it leave.

Keep the question close,

But not clutched.

You're not solving anything.

You're simply listening.

And if it's silent,

Maybe that's part of the answer too.

Coming back to the breath now,

That inhale.

Exhale.

Let's take one more together,

In through the nose.

And out through the mouth.

I'm still learning what it means to trust that flow of attraction.

Still learning that it's not the same as impulse or escape.

It's slower.

It's quieter.

But it knows something I often forget.

If something surfaced for you today,

Hold it lightly.

Don't rush to name it,

Just let it stay close.

And if it felt empty,

That's also saying something too.

The stillness,

When you really let it,

Has a way of showing you what you weren't looking for.

Thanks for flowing with me.

I'll see you again next week.
