Hello there!
I am Christy Marie Davis and I'm here to talk with you about all things spirituality,
Self-growth,
Self-expansion,
And becoming the most authentic and empowered you in this world.
So today our topic is self-embodiment.
What does that mean?
What is self-embodiment?
It is embodying your full self.
So many of us come into this world and we have these unique abilities,
Unique gifts,
And talents,
And strengths,
And desires.
I'll say it again,
Desires to do things in this world,
To share things in the world,
To even just have certain experiences here.
We're drawn towards certain things that are for a purpose.
It's because we enjoy it or because we are meant to.
It's related to our purpose and what we want to do here in the world.
So you come into this world and you have all of this unique stuff and then we enter the world as it is.
And in the world as it is,
There is a lot of communal conditioning.
So the community that you grow up in shapes largely who you become and the family you live in,
The culture you're in,
The country,
The city,
Even the school you go to,
The friends you hang out with.
All of this starts to shape who we are in the world and it starts to impact how you express yourself.
So maybe say that you have a trait where you are really heart open,
You have a super open heart,
But then you're in an environment where people aren't like that and maybe people are very closed-hearted.
Maybe they are not receptive the way that you want to hug everybody or you want to express your love to everybody and everybody kind of acts like you're doing too much,
You need to kind of give everybody space,
You're too much.
We hear that a lot,
Huh?
You're too much.
So this happens as we walk and navigate the world.
We have some trait and then maybe something around us,
Somebody around us tells us,
No,
No,
No,
No,
No,
Don't be like that,
Be like this.
So anyway,
All these different ways we go through the world and who we are is shaped by how the world currently is.
And so the journey that we're all on is a journey of self embodiment because the question is,
Who are you really?
And while so much of our culture and our countries and our families,
There's a lot of positive ways they can shape us and impact who we are.
We are also unique individual expressive beings and it's important that we express our individualness in this world because just as important as it is to be a community and to have connection,
We came with unique energy to share and we came here to share that unique energy.
You were like,
You know what,
I want to go to planet earth because I see this is going on there and I think I have something to offer or you know what,
I really want to experience this.
And you came here for that reason.
So if you come here with a purpose,
It's like,
Okay,
If you go to the grocery store and you're like,
You know what,
I'm really craving spaghetti tonight.
And you're like,
I,
And I tell everybody around you,
Like,
I just love spaghetti.
I want it so bad.
I'm going to go to the grocery store and get all the ingredients to make spaghetti.
Then you get to the grocery store and the grocery store,
It's like,
If somebody there,
The,
The,
All the people that will work in the grocery store is like,
No,
No,
No,
No,
No.
Like don't get spaghetti.
Come on tonight.
We're having the special on beef ribs.
Like come get ribs.
They're amazing.
You're going to love it.
I promise you.
And everybody's telling you like,
No,
No,
No,
No,
Don't get the spaghetti,
Get the,
Get the beef ribs,
Get the beef ribs.
And so you kind of like,
Okay,
All right,
All right,
All right.
Everybody's,
You know,
Really raving about these beef ribs.
Everybody's telling me to get the ribs.
Okay,
Fine.
I'll get the ribs and you get the ribs.
But then,
You know,
There was a reason why you wanted spaghetti and maybe the ribs are good,
But they're not what you wanted.
And I think that phrase I'll repeat,
They weren't what you wanted.
And that is so important.
I think this is one of the biggest reasons people do not self embody in this world is because we downplay the importance of desire.
We downplay the importance of our desires.
We think wanting something is not enough of a reason to go for it,
To have it,
To get it.
Well,
Okay,
I don't really need it.
Well,
You know,
Okay.
You know,
It's,
It's,
It's going to be raining tomorrow.
You know what,
Tomorrow's the Tuesday,
Uh,
You know,
We just come up with all these reasons to say,
Ah,
You know,
It's not that big of a deal.
I can do it another day.
It just,
It was something I wanted to do,
But you know,
It's not really necessary.
It's not that practical.
I mean,
There's a lot other things going on a thousand times,
Excuses,
Reasons why we just kind of let go of the things that were,
That are important to us because what you desire is important to you.
I even challenge you to say that right now,
That,
That affirmation,
What I desire is important to me.
Yes.
It's important to say that because we downplay our desires and we talk ourselves out of what we want.
And that causes us in little,
All those little ways that we do that.
We begin to become not embodied,
Not self embodied.
We talk ourselves out of being ourself in all these little ways.
And sometimes in big ways say,
You know,
You really wanted to be a doctor or you really didn't want to be a doctor and you ended up being a doctor,
You know,
And then it's like,
That's not what you wanted.
And now you're living something that you didn't want.
And you try to talk yourself into it and say,
You know,
It's not that bad.
And here you are living a life made up of all these really small moments when you did things you didn't really want to do,
Or you,
Or you didn't do the things you didn't,
You did want to do.
And here you are.
And you're wondering something doesn't quite feel right.
I don't feel like I'm living my purpose in this world.
And I don't feel totally fulfilled.
I'm not that happy.
I,
There's got to be something more to this life.
This,
All those phrases come from when we're not fully self embodied.
This means you are out of alignment in some way with your authentic desires and who you really are.
Okay.
So how do we embody ourselves?
If it's,
You know,
If it's this important,
And if it's this is integral to our experience here on earth and our happiness,
How do we become self embodied?
Great question.
And that's why it's a journey.
The number one way we're going to have multiple ways here,
We're going to start number one,
Know and respect and honor your desires.
Know and respect and honor the desires that live in your heart.
When you want something,
Take it seriously.
Okay,
Then here's where we get into it,
Because someone could say,
Okay,
I really want that chocolate cake.
Do I eat it every time I want it?
And this is where it gets tricky.
And I think this is where desires get complex.
Because we are very complex beings,
You have a lot of different parts of you.
You have the parts of you that feel like they were not heard or witnessed or seen enough as a kid,
And you feel a little bit hurt,
And you want to,
You want love.
And there's the parts that were taught,
You have to behave certain ways to receive that love.
Or there's the parts of you who tried so hard to cope with challenging circumstances,
By developing certain habits or patterns to get you through something hard.
So that's why it can be kind of hard when we say,
Okay,
When we when we start looking at what do I really want,
It can be a little bit complicated at first,
Because we have all these different parts of us that do want different things.
There's the part of you that wants to be seen.
There's the part of you that wants love and has certain beliefs around what it needs to do to get that love.
There's the part of you that,
You know,
Wants to be accepted and belong.
And there's certain things you want to be able to belong.
So you could see how just saying,
Okay,
What do you want?
Can be a hard question.
Because there's all these different parts of you wanting different things.
And which part do you listen to?
Which desires do you honor?
And this is where that piece comes in of self embodiment.
And what we're really saying with self embodiment,
We're really saying,
Soul embodiment,
Embodying your soul.
Because that is another part of you,
Your soul,
Your soul.
Just imagine the sun coming in shining down your soul.
Yes,
You have a soul,
You are a soul.
You don't have a soul,
You are a soul.
It is a it's a massive part of your being here.
And so many times I feel like that is the thing that is left out.
When we focus too much on the physical reality and the physical things we want and need,
We don't always pay attention and prioritize the soul.
So what if you haven't prioritized your soul in a while?
How do you really identify a soul desire?
How do you know when it's coming from your soul?
How do you know who your soul is?
Well,
One of those ways is intuition.
What is coming up in your intuition?
What signs are speaking to you here,
I'm going to give you one of my favorite ways to tell when my soul is speaking to me.
And it is external confirmation.
I love to get signs from outside me to confirm how I feel inside me.
I'll give you an example.
I wanted to go to Bali.
This was years ago when I was first going through my spiritual awakening and quitting my job back home,
Working for my family's business,
Ready to go explore my own path.
And Bali showed up in this group program,
I don't know,
Some sort of program I was seeing online where they had trips there.
And I was looking at all the different locations around the world that they could go to.
And when I looked at the Bali page,
Something about the photos,
The activities they mentioned,
The pictures of the rice fields,
Something just really drew me in.
And I couldn't stop thinking about it.
So it kind of stayed with me.
Soul desires stay with us.
They're not just like things that come up in a moment.
It's like,
Oh,
I really want that.
Whatever,
Never mind.
They don't do that.
They really stay with us.
They've been with us all along.
And so they are patient and they come in for the long run.
You know,
They're there and they start speaking and they say.
So there was like this little sign like,
OK,
This is important to me.
This is calling to me.
And I didn't get that from any other pages.
OK,
I kind of left it.
Well,
Then I started seeing Bali coming up in my reality in a lot of different ways.
Other things on Instagram or,
You know,
I kept thinking about it and then I decided to apply for the program,
But it didn't work out.
I talked to someone and then it ended up falling through and still it was in my reality.
So I decided,
OK,
Maybe I just need to go on my own and maybe I need to book a flight.
And it just was one of these things that for months on end,
It was just this weird feeling.
And even to the point where I was on another path,
My other pathway besides quitting my job and moving to Bali for a few months was to move to another city where my family's business was.
And I said,
OK,
Well,
This will be a way I can at least get out of where I'm from.
I can go to another city and I can still basically stay safe,
You know,
Stay in what I know.
And so my friend called me out of the blue with an opportunity to move to that city because she was moving.
And she said,
Hey,
I'm moving and my apartment just opened up.
If you want to move in,
You can like next week or in a couple of weeks like that soon or,
You know,
In a few weeks.
And I said,
Wow,
OK,
I was just thinking,
You know,
I have this crossroads,
Go to Bali or move to this other city and still work for my family.
And then all of a sudden she calls me out of the blue with the opportunity to move there.
Some could say that's a sign to go there.
But you know what?
The signs are confirmation of what we feel inside.
So just because she called me and offered me a spot in this other city,
What it really showed me was that I really didn't want to go there.
When it became real and I had the choice,
It showed me.
I remember feeling like,
No,
Like this party was like,
No,
I it just you know,
I can't let go of this call for Bali.
And so that was the moment I said,
OK,
I'm doing it,
Not moving to that city.
I'm going to Bali.
So I did quit and I did book my flight and I was terrified and I moved there or,
You know,
Traveled there not knowing anyone.
And I had just the most insane,
You know,
Spiritual awakening journey.
And nothing has ever been the same ever since.
And my life has never been the same.
I've never been the same ever since.
So.
The point I'm trying to make is that soul desires can come in,
They stay,
They nag at you.
And the most important thing is I didn't know why.
I didn't really know why I wanted to go to Bali when everybody asked.
I mean,
Obviously,
It's a beautiful place.
And nowadays everybody wants to go to Bali.
So there's not you know,
Everybody wants to.
There's no like questioning it.
But back then people questioned me quite a bit and I didn't really have an answer.
And that's another sign of a soul desire.
You don't know why.
I mean,
The only answer is because you want to.
You know,
Sometimes when I'm craving chocolate cake.
Okay,
Yes,
I want chocolate cake.
And sometimes it's good to have chocolate cake.
But you know,
I would crave it every day.
And so I do see it.
I want the cake.
But you know,
I can usually say,
Well,
Because it tastes really good.
It's gonna make me feel really good.
I'm gonna sugar high,
I'm gonna feel relaxed.
I'm gonna feel like satisfied.
There's a there's a why,
You know,
And that's,
That's,
You know,
Probably just like a fleeting moment there.
But a soul desire,
You don't really always know why except because you want to.
It just feels right.
It just feels like who you are.
And it's okay if you're scared.
It's okay to be terrified,
Really.
And that is just a part of saying yes to yourself.
When maybe that yes is different than the when everybody else around you is saying yes to.
Maybe your soul is is calling you to something that nobody else around you is called to.
And that's why it feels wrong.
And that's why we walk away.
When really,
It's meant for you.
It's calling you.
And it's okay if nobody else is called to it.
Because it's yours.
And they're called to their own things because they're their own soul.
So soul desires come in,
They stay,
They poke you,
They nag you.
Maybe you've you you put it away.
Maybe you have a book you've always wanted to write.
You put it back in in under the covers under the rug for years.
And then it's like,
You know what,
I've always kind of wanted to write a book.
And then it comes back out.
Maybe you're sharing with somebody you know.
And then you kind of forget about it again.
And then you know,
Maybe a few years later,
Say,
You know,
I always wanted to write a book.
It's like,
It's just stays there,
It's always going to be with you.
So if you're ready to really connect with your soul desires,
One of the things is that they come in in their own time,
We don't have to rush it.
But we can pay attention to them.
And if there are soul desires that you've been kind of pushing under the rug or ignoring,
Right now,
You can just decide in yourself,
I'm going to listen to my soul desires.
Just say that I am going to listen,
Or I listen to my soul's desires.
And it's okay,
If you have to practice that,
We're just getting into the mindset of instead of I do what everybody else around me thinks is the best thing to do.
You know,
That's kind of what we don't do affirmations when we're young,
You know,
In our society,
We're getting conditioned,
But that's kind of what is happening.
Now we're saying I listen to my own soul,
I listen to the voice of my soul.
And just having that intention is powerful.
That decision in this moment,
If you really want to shift in your life,
And you really,
Really want to know who you are,
And you want to live the life you really want to are excited about living,
Decide right now.
And it's okay,
If it's a journey,
You know,
It might not be like,
You might have a eureka moment right now,
You might have a desire come in,
You're like,
Okay,
You know what,
This is a sign,
This is the sign.
Right now,
Me saying this is a sign if you've been looking for one,
You know,
To do that thing you've been wanting to do.
But if you don't have anything coming to you right now,
It's okay.
Just that intention of I'm going to pay attention,
I'm going to listen to what my soul is saying.
Decide that right now and your life will change.
So we're listening to our soul's desires,
We're taking them seriously,
We're honoring them,
We're respecting them as sacred,
Sacred soul desires.
That's what it is.
It's a sacred soul desire,
My friend.
And that's how we're going to start treating them.
As sacred.
I respect and honor your sacred soul desires,
And I honor my own.
So that's number one,
Honoring your desires.
It's a way to self embody,
To embody your soul,
Soul embody.
Okay,
So number two,
Activate your soul energy,
Your soul frequency.
This is number two.
So this is when we get talking a little bit more into energy.
So you have a physical being,
Your body,
Right now,
You can take a look at it,
You feel it,
You're in a physical body.
But you're not just a physical body,
You're also an energy body.
You're also an energetic being and your soul is an energy form.
And so you into your physical being.
How do we do that?
How do we embody our soul frequency in our physical being?
Well,
Whenever you go to do any activity,
And you're going to put your energy into it,
That energy is coming from somewhere.
Where is it coming from?
What is your intention behind what you're doing?
Where are you pulling your frequency from?
A lot of times we do things out of a frequency like fear.
If you're saying,
I'm going to do this because I'm scared of X outcome,
So I'm going to do this instead.
Like anything you could do,
Doing it out of fear.
That's not your soul frequency.
That's fear frequency.
Your soul is not made of fear.
Fear is just an energy in the world.
Your soul has its own frequency,
Just like fear.
So are you doing it from fear?
Even love.
Love has a frequency and love could be in your soul frequency.
Love could be a part of your soul frequency.
It could be a way you decide to express your soul frequency with love,
But that is also a frequency.
And then you have your soul.
I'm going to do this thing because it's exactly who I am.
I love doing it and it's me.
That's your soul energy right there.
So when we decide to do something because it's who we are and it feels right and we love it,
We're doing it with our soul frequency and you are bringing your soul frequency into the physical world.
When you do something from the intention of being yourself,
Being authentic.
How many times have you ever posted something on Instagram or on social media and you really were saying something new in a way you've never said before,
Maybe posting something you've never posted before and you get terrified.
You get so scared because you're like,
Oh,
This will be really fun.
This is like so me and you post it and then you get terrified.
Sometimes,
You know,
If you're honest with yourself about what your intention is with posting it,
That can be you're being authentic and you're scared because we're so used to doing things everybody's already approved of.
Like,
Okay,
It's okay to do this.
And then we do it.
And then we don't feel anxiety because we know,
Oh gosh,
Everybody's going to approve of that because you already,
You know that.
But when we do something new,
When we do something different,
When we do something aligned with our authentic being,
It can be scary because you might be like,
I've never seen anybody do this before.
Even if it's something simple,
It's not like,
You know,
You created something brand new,
But you just did it in your own way.
And that can be scary.
You know,
When I was in grade school,
I really didn't love sports.
I was not a sports person.
But one year,
And I was in eighth grade,
The girls came to me and they were not going to be able to have enough people to make a basketball team.
So they asked me,
Chrissy,
Will you just come sit on the bench,
Be a body on the team so we can have a team.
And at the time,
I was like,
All right,
Fine,
I will join your basketball team so you can have a team.
So I joined.
And funny enough,
I was actually pretty good,
Not at basketball,
But I was good at shooting the ball.
I wasn't good at navigating the court,
Going up against opponents,
Running around the court,
All these things,
Actual takes to play the game.
But I was pretty,
I wasn't terrible at actually just shooting the ball.
So anyway,
I never took the shot.
I would never take the shot.
And one time they put me in,
I don't know why.
And I remember I got the ball,
And I had open court in front of me.
And I started taking off,
And you know,
Because that's what you do,
Everybody,
You know,
And you get the ball,
And then nobody's on your side of the court,
You run,
And you go shoot the ball.
You can really tell I'm not a sports person here.
But I remember taking off because it was just instinct to start dribbling the ball towards,
You know,
Our side,
And no one was in my way.
And then I questioned myself,
Because it was just so,
I was just,
You know,
Taking off into the unknown doing something that I guess I was supposed to do.
But I questioned myself because it was like,
Too easy.
It was too good.
I don't know,
Like,
Where was everybody else?
Like,
Why was I able to do this?
And so I stopped,
And I would dribble really fast,
And then I would stop.
And then I would take off,
And I would stop.
And I remember the coach commenting on it after,
Because,
You know,
Anybody else would have just taken the open court and run.
And I just didn't know what to do with it.
I didn't know that it was okay to just go for it.
I looked around and saw no one else around me,
And thought,
Oh no,
I'm doing something wrong.
Oh no,
Other people aren't doing it too.
So is this okay to do?
Am I doing it wrong?
So you see what I mean?
We do this in our lives,
When we start doing something,
And then we look around,
And we say,
Wait,
Nobody else is doing this.
Does that mean it's wrong?
So I'm going to encourage you to stop yourself.
When you see yourself doing something no one else is doing,
And if it feels like legitimately something you want to do,
Do it.
Do it.
Do it.
Because so often when we really break into doing something unique,
We question and doubt ourselves.
But uniqueness,
Authenticity,
Is powerful.
It is the fuel that will fuel the life of your dreams.
Because when you are authentic,
When you are unique,
You are living your soul frequency in the world.
And that is what you came here to do.
So activate your soul frequency.
Make decisions.
Make action in your life with the intention of being yourself,
And that will call in more of your soul frequency into your life.
Okay,
Number three.
How do we embody our soul,
Our self,
In this world?
Joy.
Joy.
Number three is joy.
Joy.
So many of us like to have joy,
But we don't necessarily prioritize it.
We like to have fun,
But we don't prioritize it.
Maybe,
You know,
You're going out with your friends,
Or something like that.
There's a few activities that you do that you really enjoy.
But how much,
If you look at your week,
How much in a percentage of the things that you set out to do are with the purpose of joy?
Because it brings you joy.
That's why you're doing it.
Think about your day.
Think about what you did today,
Or what you're going to do today.
How much of your day,
Any part of today,
What activities that you did or going to do revolve around because you enjoy it?
It's a serious question.
This is transformational.
It might sound simple.
But prioritizing your joy will change your life.
Because we prioritize many other things.
And the thing with joy is that it is activating.
Joy activates us.
Because when we do things that we enjoy,
Like,
Say something simple.
Imagine when you were a kid,
And you loved to jump rope,
You legitimately got joy out of that.
And when you're a kid,
Look at kids,
They make a lot of choices based on joy.
When their friends come over,
Or when it's recess,
And it's time to do something fun,
They think,
What would be fun to do?
That's like,
That's like,
Their whole purpose,
They get together as a group at recess,
Or if they're friends over,
And they're like,
What would be fun,
And they just come up with activities.
And that's why you see them doing the most random things,
Or the most,
You know,
Just joyful things like they jump on the trampoline,
Or they build a fort,
Or they run down the street,
Or they play basketball,
Or they,
You know,
It's like they have this so much energy,
Because they're doing things they enjoy.
And you know,
You might not enjoy the things that you did as a kid fully.
But what do you enjoy now?
And how do you revolve?
How do you create your life around that joy?
Because we really,
At some point,
Many of us took in the belief that life is not about joy.
You get to have it a little bit on the weekends,
Or,
You know,
On your vacations,
But your life is primarily not found.
If joy is not the foundation of your life,
It is like an extra.
But what if joy was the foundation of your life?
What the heck would your life look like?
If your day was foundational on joy,
What would your day look like?
Do you even know anymore what you enjoy?
What brings you joy?
Whether that's decorating your bedroom with colors,
And objects,
And textures that you just love,
And make you smile.
What if that's going to your favorite coffee shop,
Because every time you go there,
You just feel good?
What if that's doing something silly,
Playing games,
Or,
I don't know,
Video games,
Or building something that's just for the sake of joy?
Not because it's going to look good,
Not because people are going to like it,
Not because you'll have a great story,
Because you get to enjoy it,
The activity of it.
So this is your challenge,
To embrace your joy,
To embrace joy.
Can you have a day where you prioritize joy,
And you step out into the world,
Or in,
You know,
Stay in your house,
Either one,
Figuratively step into the world,
And you do all the things you enjoy.
Can you give yourself that?
And it's okay if it's hard.
It's okay if right now you're saying,
What's the point?
Or,
I don't even know what I enjoy anymore.
That's the journey,
Is the discovery.
Because that discovery of what brings you joy,
Is connecting with your soul.
Your soul is the one who brings joy.
Your soul laughs,
And loves,
And giggles,
And feels free.
That's your soul.
All those moments when you feel those things,
That is you connected with your soul.
And it's powerful.
So the moment you have joy,
You have your soul.
The moment you laugh,
Giggle,
Feel like,
Wow,
Free.
That's your soul.
So if you want to embody it,
Embody joy.
Seek joy.
Prioritize,
Embrace joy.
And there you'll find yourself.
So there we've made it through three ways you can embody your soul,
Embody yourself in this world.
Go out there,
Embrace your desires,
Be yourself,
And embrace joy.
And see how your life changes.
